Epilogue
ETTA
* One Year Later *
This is the first time I’ve been completely in the dark about a plan and been okay with it.
I trust Boss completely. So even though I don't know where we’re going or what we’re doing from day to day on this holiday, I’m completely relaxed about it. I don't have to organize or plan. It’s incredible.
Sighing softly, I lean back against his firm, wide chest as his thick arm wraps around my waist. Staring off into the sunset over the river, I can't believe this is my life. The balcony of this five-star hotel is practically a private patio.
"Tired, baby?"
"Maybe just a little. In the good way."
"Don't worry, tomorrow will be a lot less walking," my new husband chuckles, giving me a squeeze. Then he lifts my left hand to kiss my fingers just above my sparkling engagement ring and wedding band.
"Am I allowed to ask what we're doing tomorrow?" I ask.
"I figure after two days of hard-core sightseeing, we're best to lay low. Just stroll around some galleries and shops within a few blocks of the hotel. Have a leisurely lunch. Maybe go for a swim." He chuckles. “We can go back to that café with the incredible cheese bread, if you like.”
“Mmm, that all sounds amazing.” I shift to wrap an arm around his neck so I'm sitting in his lap. "And the day after that?"
"Lots of little surprises." His eyebrows waggle mischievously. Don't worry. I'll make sure I have the energy to do my husbandly duty as much as you like."
His eyes light up when I laugh. After the first day of sightseeing, my feet hurt a bit. So he decided he had to give me a long foot massage, since it was “his fault”. Hey, if that's his train of logic, I'm fine with it.
"I don't even know how long we're staying. Are we going anywhere else besides Rome?"
Boss snorts. “I can't tell you all my important honeymoon secrets. You're supposed to just relax, see the sights, and eat too much."
"Fine." I roll my eyes. "I guess I can handle being spoiled some more."
His expression becomes suddenly serious. "One thing I should probably mention…"
"Yes?"
“On the way home, we're not going straight back to Rusty Hill. I thought we could stop by Wolfe Mountain for a week?"
I gasp, throwing my arms around him. "That's a wonderful idea."
"You don't mind?"
"Of course not! I want to meet your whole family. See all your billions of cousins."
"I can't guarantee they’ll all be there." He chuckles. "Five of them run a tech security company and are zipping all over the planet. It’s their busy season. And a couple of them are backwoods loners that rarely come out to family functions. But you’ll meet the social ones. That’s still quite a few. ”
"Eee, I'm so excited!" Cupping his face in my palms, my lips brush his gently. "I don't have a family. You are my family now. So I'm excited to meet them. Really."
His dark eyes light up, then Boss kisses me. It's light and sweet at first, then quickly becomes intense. Like a brushfire taking hold.
After a moment, he pulls away, grinning. "Now you’ve got me thinking again about starting our own family. It’s going to be so much fun to knock you up in a few months—" He hesitates for a second. “Or, you know, whenever you’re ready. You said you’d know when the time is right.”
The time has been right for Boss for months. He never stops talking about our future children, and how much he wants to get me pregnant.
My lips quiver as I try to suppress my grin. Of course he notices. "What is it, beautiful?"
"I wasn't going to tell you until we got home, but…"
"Tell me what?" His eyes blaze as he takes hold of my hip. "Tell me now."
Look at this man. I can't believe how lucky I am. How much potential our future has.
He shakes my outer thigh, then narrows his eyes and growls. "Tell me."
"Well, I was supposed to start a new pack of pills the day before the wedding.” I shrug. “But with everything going on, I guess I just forgot. Oops."
I hope the other guests don't hear my squeal as Boss lifts me and throws me over his shoulder, marching us straight to the bed. "I'm going to teach you a lesson about hiding things from me, beautiful."
I knew ever since Boss protected me from my own family that he’s the one I belong with forever. He is my family. With all the incredible sex we've been having for the past few weeks, I don't think I'll be hiding anything from him for long.
Our family, and our love, will be expanding for all the world to see very soon.

“I’m guessing you didn’t get any videos done, though.”
Zoe laughs musically. It’s a sound I’m already falling in love with. “Nah, too busy. All good, though.”
Pulling her into my arms, we sink into the chair together, arms entwined as if we’ve known each other for years.
Zoe’s cheeks flush slightly as she squirms into a comfortable position curled against my shoulder.
“You gave me exactly what I needed to get started with my project. So I thought…you know… I should return the favor.”
My thumb caresses her cheekbone. “Can you guess what I need right now?”
Her breath catches. “Maybe? Or maybe I’m just hoping.”
Leaning back slightly, I tilt so that she’s leaning over me. I want the decision to sink toward me or not to be completely hers. “Kiss me?” I whisper. “I’ve been dreaming of it since we met.”
The next few seconds while I wait are the longest of my life, as my palm strokes her back. Her lovely eyes are huge as her tongue darts across her lower lip and she takes a slow breath. Then Zoe leans in tentatively, sweeping her hair out of the way behind her ear before pressing her lips to mine.
My pulse pounds in my ears as I pull her closer, the soft kiss progressing from gentle to fiery in just a few racing heartbeats. She’s clearly as excited as I am, her lips parting as the kiss deepens even more.
My entire existence is reduced to a series of snapshots. The feel of Zoe’s soft hair against my cheek. The pressure of her fingers gripping my shoulder, and her round ass on my thigh. The sound of her uneven breath, followed by her slight gasp. The way our bodies fit together so perfectly.
Soon she’s practically lying on top of me as I hold her close, my hand shifting to caress her hip. Her lips are soft as we kiss eagerly, tongues exploring and sighs and moans from both of us hovering in the air.
I adore this woman.
The logical part of me points out that I don’t know her well enough for thoughts like this.
Well, logic can sit down and be quiet. She’s what I’ve needed.
What I’ve dreamed of. Like being underwater for a full minute, then resurfacing and taking that first full breath.
The bright spark that has been missing and that I’ve craved my entire life.
Even though she has no idea yet what it means that I’m a Wolfe.
