EPILOGUE — VICTOR
THREE MONTHS LATER
W hile moving to Los Angeles was the best decision I’ve ever made, not moving in with Keri was the worst. She offered, but I declined, like a fucking idiot. With everything that happened, I didn’t want to rush into living together. Still, I stay at her place most nights. No, I’m not lurking and watching her sleep. I’m in her bed, as her boyfriend.
I never thought I’d see the day when the woman I was obsessed with would be mine.
Her rehearsal is over in an hour, but I have a quick stop at the airport to pick up Paul. It’s Keri’s birthday and no material gift would do. His obnoxiously large dick is a present she wouldn’t expect. To be safe, I hid everything in her apartment that could’ve ever touched an almond.
Once I have Paul in tow, we arrive at the studio where she’s recording music for an upcoming slasher film. I love that she’s living out her dream. I was able to sign on with Baker and use my own badge to access the building. We wait outside the recording studio for her, and after four or five people file out first, out walks my girl, eyes alight and a smile that makes me melt. She gasps the moment she sees Paul and her gaze shifts between the two of us.
“Paul? What are you doing here?” While she’s excited to see him, I expected a little more shock behind it.
“Happy birthday! I made you a pie, but it’s at your apartment.”
I stifle a laugh as her eyes widen. Wrapping her in my arms, I chuckle, “He didn’t, but I thought you’d like to have a little fun for your birthday.”
“I knew he was coming.” I frown as she pulls out her phone and taps a few times. “Why does it say your location is still San Francisco?”
“Because I left the location tag at my place,” he replies with a shrug. “I didn’t want to ruin the surprise.”
“Location tag?”
“Damn it,” she grumbles, then looks up at me. “Sorry, I figured you both knew I planted location tags on both of you when you came to see me a few months ago.”
“Oh, my devious woman, what am I going to do with you?”
“Help me celebrate the best birthday ever,” she sings.
And that’s exactly what we do.
