I t's early when I wake up, Aiyana still lying on my chest. 1 Staying true to my word, I run my fingers along her back, and she stirs from her sleep. When her eyes pop open, she gives me a small smile that lights me up. If every day could start like this, I'd be king of the fucking world .
"Morning," she says. I cup her cheek and press a chaste kiss to the tip of her nose and another to her forehead before sliding out from beside her. I head to the bathroom and call over my shoulder to her, "Go back to sleep. I just wanted to let you know I'm heading out."
Her smile falls slightly before she picks it back up, but I don't ask questions, knowing she doesn't want me to.
I use the restroom, swishing mouthwash before I head out, pull my coat on, and slip back into my sneakers. I walk over to her, pressing another kiss to her forehead, and let her know I'll text her later. I lock up and head out, knowing I have a game tonight and should get my house chores done before our away game on Friday.

We won tonight's game too, and as I head home, I answer my messages, one from Aiyana catching my eye first, of course.
