Epilogue

Navy

Several Years Later

We were in Aruba, and Kaos and Serenity had just renewed their vows for their ten year anniversary.

The first time around, they got married in Lake Como.

This time, they opted for something with warmer weather for this time of year.

It worked out perfectly since everyone who attended was married.

We were all able to celebrate Valentine’s Day on this warm, beautiful island before the vow renewal ceremony.

Kaos and Serenity had two more children, all boys, and I loved that because Kaos was an amazing man raising amazing men.

Tristan and Taj were expecting their sixth child. He’d honored Taj’s desires for marriage and family—lots of babies and their own family and holiday traditions.

Carson and Venus had two girls, which I thought was cute because Carson was the best girl dad.

Twyla married her soul mate four years ago, and they had no plans of having children. She was dead set on being the rich auntie for the rest of her life, and my kids loved her and their uncle Kingston for that.

And me and Zander? We ended up getting our four children, two girls and two boys, out of the way back to back. As soon as we had number four, Zander had a vasectomy because his ass refused to pull out. And as good as it felt having him inside of me, I honestly had no problem with that.

Montgomery, Pierce, Walker, and Gough had become what the guys wanted it to be.

Not only was it the largest BIPOC firm in the city, but it was the largest BIPOC firm in the South.

Thanks to their stocks and going public, they were able to acquire smaller firms all over, and today, MPWG was a billion dollar firm.

None of the parters actively took on cases these days.

Zander did start teaching law as he said he would, and he’d been doing so for the last three years.

Carson had opened a gaming and gambling bar that kept us young, excited, and capable of having fun at any time of any day.

Tristan and Tyler, Taj’s brother, had gone into business together and opened a security training company that the secret society used thanks to my husband.

Tyler and Emilia were married and had two children—a boy and a girl.

Kaos invested in businesses but devoted his time to traveling with his family.

I loved his dedication to them and how he set himself up to be able to provide a life of leisure for generations to come.

They’d created that for all of us, and I thanked God for that.

I thanked God for the security.

I thanked God for our families.

I thanked God for our unchanging bonds within our community.

I may have been an only child, but now I had brothers and sisters that I was able to enjoy life with.

For so long it felt like I was existing and waiting for something, someone, to cause a shift in my life. That happened the moment Zander expressed his love for me, and I’d been living my best life filled with love ever since.
