Chapter Five Trill #3

The nigga looked at me with a quick glance and looked away. I don’t know what that shit was about. Especially being that I just shook the niggas hand. I pushed the ignorant shit out of my brain though. I don’t know this nigga and I know for damn sure he doesn’t know me.

“What’s this going to cost me Raven?”

“Just thirty grand.”

He sighed, as he used his hand to rub over his face in a quick manner. Though it appeared that he didn’t want to oblige, he did anyway. He went into his back pocket and removed his American Express card from his wallet. He tapped his card and paid for the service.

“Thank you, baby. What the fiancé wants, she gets”, she said boasting.

Jay gave him the rundown of everything we were going to do, and they dipped. I was glad because by now both of them were on my nerves bad. The day flew by quick as hell and before I knew it, everybody was leaving, and the shop was getting ready to close for the day.

I already sent Mazi home because he has been a great help today.

I appreciate everything the nigga do for me, so I don’t try to use him up.

I did my walk through, making sure everything was unplugged and out of the way before I officially shut down for the night.

Before I dipped out, I flipped the sign around on the door that said closed.

I retrieved my key from my pocket and began to lock both top and bottom locks on the door.

As my back was turned, I began to hear a vehicle pulling in behind me in the door closed shortly after.

I peeped over my shoulders just in time to see a black Tahoe approaching.

I couldn’t necessarily make out who was driving because all the windows had limo tint.

It wasn’t long before I heard the door opened.

The sound of footsteps on the gravel let me know that someone was approaching.

I wasn’t frightened in the slightest. I just kept working at the mission at hand.

“We’re closed, we’ll open back up promptly at 9 AM”, I said without turning around.

“You’re Trill right?”

Hearing my street name, I turned around to face the person. Some stocky nigga stood before me with some creased jeans, a fitted shirt, and cowboy boots. Though I had no clue who he was. I stood there and answered his question.

“Depends on who’s asking.”

“They call me Grit.”

“What can I do for you?”

He laughed lightly at my agitation. If I don’t know you, or if it isn’t about business, I’m not the nigga for the long talking.

You have to get straight to the point with me.

I’m a nigga with shit to do. Now that the shop has closed for the day, I have other business to tend to.

I don’t particularly have time to stand here and make small talk with this nigga all night.

“Ain’t no easy way to say the shit that I’m here to say. I can see that your patience is thin as a motherfucker. Reminds me of someone. I’m your father’s brother. Unfortunately, he passed, and I wanted to extend an invite to his homecoming”

I cackled to myself. Eventually, this shit turned into a full eruption.

I don’t know who this nigga is or who he thinks I am.

Shit, I have no clue who my sperm donor is.

Why the hell would I believe a stranger?

Showing up twenty-six years too late for me to give a fuck.

But being here to tell me that nigga that I don’t know or never knew has passed.

I could give a fuck about it. The nigga never did anything for me.

Never even showed me his face. So why would I care if that motherfucker is eating dust right now?

“Nah G, you’re mistaken. I don’t have a daddy, father, none of that shit.

I’m cool on it. For you to be the nigga’s brother you’re not any better than him.

Your ass wasn’t there either. I’m a grown ass man.

Any family that I haven’t had all this time, I don’t want or need.

Why would I want to come and celebrate a motherfucker that never cared for me?

And as for you my nigga, you can get the fuck off my property! Fuck you and that dead ass nigga!”

“That’s fair, I can’t speak for him. I can only speak for myself.

I could’ve done better. I could’ve done more.

I was just respecting my brother ‘s wishes. I’m gonna leave you with this card.

It has the address of where the homegoing will be taking place, also the date and time.

Just in case you have a change of heart. I won’t waste anymore of your time”

He placed the card in my pants pocket. It took everything in me not to haul off and punch the nigga dead in his shit.

I think the only thing that kept me from doing it was the vague resemblance that I saw myself in him.

I had one million questions. But the biggest one was why now?

I was pissed that I even looked like the nigga.

He drove away in the black Tahoe that he was driving and sped down the road. Leaving me with my thoughts and the car that I just retrieved from my pocket.

“Homegoing celebration for Giovanni Laurent” …it read.

What the fuck was all I could think.
