Chapter Nine Savage #3
“For a normal person, anywhere from three- five days. Lucky for you all, Mr. Laurent has already paid for services to be expedited the same day”, she said with a polite smile.
I just nodded my head, satisfied with her response. Trill and Grit gave their samples after.
“Look, I know you’re ready to go. All I’m asking for is another hour at the most. I need y’all to know the results before y’all leave here today. I know this moment is the deciding factor for a lot of shit. That’s why I arranged for her to be on standby today. I get it man, trust me”, Grit said.
“Words alone just won’t do it for this kind of situation man.”
“Trust me, I understand.”
Ro just stood by, giving his moral support. I knew he wouldn’t say much in the presence of strangers. When we’re alone, I’m sure that he’ll share his sentiments with me.
It was hard as hell to believe that Trill and I were sharing a room and not trying to kill one another.
Emotions and tensions were high, but we were bearing with it all.
We may have been giving one another death stares here and there but shit, we both were playing it cool.
Had both of our crews been with us, that would have been a different story.
Trill came through alone, and Ro was the only person with me.
I came to the conclusion, the beef between Trill and I was a result of shit that our crews had against one another.
If it hadn’t been for that, it’s no telling how different things could have been between us.
Everyone was in their own little bubbles as we anticipated the results of the DNA testing.
It didn’t take long before the analyst was coming back in the room with paperwork in manilla folders for each of us.
Once she passed Grit his, he laid it on the desk.
I guess he didn’t feel the need to view results to some shit he already knows the answer to.
Instead, he propped up against the table and allowed us to view our results for ourselves.
Trill and I eyes met, like we were both trying to see who would open their envelopes first. Without verbally agreeing, we retrieved the paper from the envelope simultaneously to view the results.
I didn’t feel the need to read the fine print.
Only thing I wanted to know is the results of this shit.
This shit has held my entire day up and I refused to leave without answers.
My eyes scanned over the paperwork for the information that I was seeking. Once I located it, I took my time reading it to ensure that I was interpreting everything properly. I’m not a slow ass nigga by far, I just needed confirmation.
“Based on the analysis of the 24 genetic loci, the statistical results show a conclusive inclusion. It is the opinion of this laboratory that Gianni Laurent is the biological uncle to Khalil Knox.”
I stopped reading right there because that shit told me everything I needed to know as far as my relation to Grit.
The next thing I wanted to see was how high the probability was for me and Trill being related.
After reading the paper and determining that we are in fact brothers, I was stunned.
The shit really had me at a loss for words.
I just stared at the papers, like the words on them would change.
When I looked up, Trill was finishing reading his paper.
I guess he realized that shit at the same time that I did.
Now was the deciding factor in all of this shit.
I knew he hated we are related. I’m sure the fact that we are brothers is something he hates even more.
What are the fuckin odds? All of my life I have gone fatherless.
Only family I’ve ever know was my mom and my sister.
Then the crew that I developed eventually became family to me.
Always just been me and them. I grew up standing up for myself because I didn’t have anyone else to look out for me.
No father, no brother, no big cousin or anything like that.
Here I am standing in the room with my brother.
The person who just so happens to be the biggest enemy that I have.
It’s clear that all of this shit is bigger than us though.
This man has left us his fortune. The fact that we can’t touch shit unless we learn how to coexist and cooperate with one another spoke volumes.
Giovanni knew what he was doing. He knew what he created.
And in a strange and odd ass way, this is his way of trying to fix the shit.
Only God knows if that something that can be achieved or not.
If me and this nigga could come to some kind of common ground, it could be beneficial to the both of us.
My baby sister and my mom came to mind instantly.
My mom never wanted this street life for me.
I never truly wanted it for myself. I just had to make ends meet in a quick manner.
Now, if only Trill and I could play our cards right, we can become billionaires overnight.
I need this shit just as much as he does.
Not only the money but the businesses could be a good look.
That’s the life I’ve always wanted. Just never had the means to make the shit happen.
Now with finding out about my late father, everything has the opportunity to be different.
Never in a million years did I think I would be willing to work with Trill but I am.
Right now, the ball is in his court. If the nigga is ready to rock, then I’m ready to roll.
