Chapter 81

Mel stumbled as they stepped out of the ride share. Alfie was right there behind them, a large hand low on their back. He reached back to help Rhys out of the car. They were glad they’d thought ahead to hire the car instead of driving themself. It gave them the opportunity to actually let loose.

They’d laughed with Caleb, wished him good luck, and had very much not told him about the possible loss of the program. What was he going to do about it? He’d told them before he didn’t make a lot as a minor leaguer. That his time was all he had to offer.

They’d thought it would be enough.

As Rhys’s arm went around them, those thoughts scattered. Maybe they could stop worrying about the center. With how Rhys leaned into them, his lips brushing over their throat as they dug their keys out of their pocket, it might just be possible.

“Not helping,” they said, the laugh that came out with the words high and light. A giggle? Had they really just giggled?

“So sorry.” Rhys kept nibbling behind their ear. Alfie swooped in and took their keys from them, slipping one into the lock.

He’d only had one beer that Mel had noticed.

And seemed to be the most clear-headed out of the three of them.

Not that Mel was drunk themself. Beyond tipsy, maybe.

Not that far. While Rhys may have drunk more than Alfie, they’d seen the way he’d stretched each drink out, and switched to water well before they’d left the bar.

Not drunk but definitely feeling good. Alfie got the door open, and the three of them stumbled inside.

Once the door was shut and locked, Mel slid their hands under Rhys’s shirt as Alfie stepped up behind him.

There’d been something a little off with Rhys all evening, but Mel couldn’t put a finger on what it was.

Still, he’d laughed and danced and even now his tongue slid past their lips.

Alfie’s fingers brushed over their hips as he held onto Rhys.

“I might be a little too lightheaded to do this standing up,” they said.

Alfie let out a deep laugh, and the vibration seemed to go right through them. Damn. Yeah, they wouldn’t mind if his fingers happened to caress their skin. They knew his boundaries and wouldn’t touch him if they could help it.

Rhys... Well, there would definitely be a lot of touching going on there.

The three of them made their way to the bedroom, and Mel slid their lips down Rhys’s chest. He pulled their shirt off, and Mel shimmied out of their leggings as he took one breast into his mouth.

He was the one sliding down their body, fitting his shoulders between their legs, and licking over them.

They gasped his name. He moaned, and they could see Alfie draped over his back, one hand beneath Rhys.

His tongue stroked between their folds, and Mel’s eyes nearly rolled up in their head.

He knew what he was doing with that thing.

He took them up to the peak and then over, and he groaned against their thigh, his hips rocking back into Alfie.

Mel lay there, spent, and watched as Rhys slid off the bed, sinking to his knees and taking Alfie into his mouth. Alfie’s hand went into his hair, and his eyes closed.

When they opened again, they landed on Mel, and they thought it was more than pleasure in his eyes.

They wouldn’t think too much about that.

He slumped down onto the bed. Rhys crawled up between them.

He kissed Alfie, long and deep, before turning to Mel and kissing them.

There was still a slight salty taste to the kiss.

Rhys nuzzled their throat with his nose then he relaxed. When his breathing turned to soft snores, Mel looked across him at Alfie. “Does he always do that?” they murmured. “Fall asleep immediately.”

He looked stunned and shook his head. “His thinking usually keeps me awake.”

Mel ran a hand through Rhys’s hair and pressed a kiss to his forehead, then they nestled in next to him. They weren’t sure what to make of it, but tomorrow was soon enough to figure it out.
