3. Milly

It took a moment for me to figure out how to work the shower since all four shower heads kept coming on. Do they expect me to be showering with multiple people? I didn”t think this was that kind of resort! Not that I would mind some steamy shower company after that tense plane ride here, but it”s only my first night, and sometimes, a girl needs a shower to herself.

Once I have only one shower head going, I strip off my top and ditch it on the ground. But as I”m about to peel off the thong that”s been riding my ass all day, I remember I”ll need something to wear afterward and leave the warm bathroom in search of something more comfortable out of my meager belongings.

I still can”t believe I didn”t think to ensure my stuff had been switched out with Millicent”s swanky wardrobe. I can only hope there are some things in that ancient turn-of-the-century wardrobe that I can make work for my small figure, though even the thought of wearing items from that woman threatens to make me sick.

At least I have a few things I brought with me in my carry-on, which I”ll have to put to good use until I can figure something else out. I”m not sure if there are any clothing retailers on this tiny island, and would probably have to do online orders.

I open the bedroom door, thinking I”ll just run in and quickly grab a shirt to have nearby and bump straight into the bare chest of a tall blonde stranger. He”s completely naked save for a small towel he”s holding in front of his junk, which, of course, my eyes are immediately drawn to.

”Oh... um, hi there,” he stammers, and I let out a scream, pushing him away and backing up towards the wall. I remember what I noticed earlier that there is only one way in and one way out of this place, and I panic because he is standing in front of the only door. My eyes dart across the room and notice a table lamp, which I grab, yanking the cord out of the wall and brandishing it in front of me as a weapon.

”Who are you?” I demand with all the confidence of a six-year-old at show and tell.

”Branch Thicket,” he says. ”I live in the blue house down the way from here.”

”And why are you in my room?” My voice shakes as my eyes wander over the man”s body. I can”t help but stare; this guy is built! Not quite as muscle-bound as the security guard from the plane, but lean and sculpted with deliciously smooth-looking skin. Something about him pulls me forward as if some unseen force is pushing me closer. Then my eyes go right to the towel he”s holding over his obvious erection, and I gasp from the familiarity of the fabric.

”What did you do to the rabbit?”

”I am the rabbit.”

”Huh? What are you talking about?” I can feel my face pale. Is this guy as crazy as he is attractive? Just my luck, I get to my island hideout without a hitch, but then some lunatic crashes my place on the very first day.

”Here, I”ll prove it; just please don”t throw that lamp at me. It looks expensive,” he says slowly, and then right before my eyes, his body shrinks into itself, growing soft brown fur tinted with blonde flecks, long floppy ears, and then a small twitching pink nose that makes me want to immediately boop it.

”Fuck me...” I whisper, falling backward against the wall. ”You”re a shifter.”

Then, just as quickly and magically, the rabbit resumes his human shape once more, quickly grabbing the towel to cover his now flaccid junk.

”Yes...” Branch starts slowly, tilting his head at me. ”This island is full of them.”

I open my mouth to respond, but nothing comes out, so I close it again. I try again, but nothing still, and we just stand there staring at each other. Me, wearing nothing but a black lacy bra and thong, and Branch Thicket, holding a hand towel over his crotch.

Shifters are rare, very rare, and often keep to themselves. I only ever met one once when I was a child. He was the son of Millicent”s lawyer, and we used to play together when his father was around and, um, ”working on things” with Millicent. Though looking back at it now, I bet they were fucking.

The lawyer was human, like Millicent, and it was highly unusual for a shifter child to be born to a normal parent, so I don”t think anyone else knew what the young boy could do. Something must have happened, though, because the lawyer and his son stopped coming around the mansion when I was a pre-teen, and I never saw either of them again. I have some vague memories involving a treehouse and fire, but I can”t remember the details. I don”t even remember what my young friend could shift into; it was so long ago.

Shifters also tend to be very, very wealthy since much of it is generational wealth. It”s built up over the decades, and they always ”keep it within the family” by marrying only into other shifter families. And because of this increased wealth, Millicent was always up in their business and surrounding herself with them because she was, for lack of a better term, a greedy sycophant.

So, of course, this island I”m on caters mainly to shifters! This is exactly what someone like Millicent would do: worm her way into the wealthy families and the exclusive societies they are a part of, and what better way to do just that than to live among them herself? She wanted to be among the rich shifters!

None of this shifter nonsense was mentioned in the paperwork I found on her desk a few days before she died, but given the shifter community”s penchant for privacy, it explains some of the secrecy I experienced in getting here. I didn”t even know the name of the island until I arrived!

”And what”s your name?” Branch asks suddenly, and my mind snaps back into the present.

”Milly, well actually it”s Mildred Taylor, but please call me Milly,” I say, extending my hand. He shifts to hold the towel with his left hand and grabs mine in a warm embrace.

”Milly,” he says, sounding like a sigh coming from his perfect lips. My hand buzzes with a warm, invisible energy, and I have a hard time even thinking about letting go. I think he must, too, because I make out a small twitch in his muscles as if he wants to pull me closer to his naked body. I”m thinking I wouldn”t mind it. It”s been a long day, and that shower does have plenty of shower heads to share, but a loud knock on the front door startles both of us.

”Ms. Taylor!” Mark”s voice rings loud and clear through the walls. ”I was hoping to have a word with you, yes?”
