Chapter 14 #2

My skin continued to itch and he fell on top of me on the bed.

Atticus slid his palm up my thigh and my stomach twisted, bile threatening to rise at the back of my throat.

His hands felt sweaty and meaty, and I tried again to ignore the unsettling sensation that boiled in my veins, pulsing through my chest and arm.

Atticus pushed my robe aside as he grabbed onto my breast, sucking my nipple into his mouth and I winced again.

His tongue felt like knives as it flicked, and he leaned back flashing me a wide grin mistaking my wince for pleasure instead of discomfort.

With a flick of his finger my robe fell open fully and his eyes roved down my exposed body greedily as his lips crashed back onto mine.

His meaty hand continued to grope my breasts.

A vision of Xavier’s disapproving face flashed in my mind and it had me squeezing my eyes shut.

I would not think of him, not now. But the image flashed again, and his glaring intense gaze speared into my soul.

I imagined him in a black fluffy robe, his arms crossed over his chest. His tattoo peeking out of the deep V his robe created.

Fire burned in my gut at the thought of him, at his mouth between my thighs. His lips at the base of my neck, his teasing whispers brushing against my skin, my nipples. How he—no. No. No. No. No!

I tore my lips from Atticus’s and pushed him back. He didn’t seem to notice my conflicting thoughts as he leaned down and captured my breast again in his mouth.

Something flickered in corner of my eye and I swore I saw a ghostly silhouette of Xavier, arms folded, leaning against the bedpost, but when I blinked he had disappeared.

Scowling at my addled brain, I shook my head and ran my hand through Atticus’s hair, pulling at his bun until his hair came loose. I yanked it, pulling him back to my lips, my hand grabbing onto his and thrusting it between us.

Atticus chuckled, and his hand slid between my thighs as an angry voice filled my mind.

What do you think you’re doing?

My eyes shot open and Atticus’s finger pushed into me. I felt Atticus smile against my lips and he moved to my neck, nipping at my skin as he pushed in another finger.

I turned and my eyes widened further as they locked onto Xavier, who was indeed leaning against the bedpost. THIS BEDPOST.

His silhouette was shadowy as if he were a phantom, not fully here. As if I were imagining him.

I told you, little stalker, once you were mine, there would be no one else.

His growl vibrated through me venomously and I watched as his gaze locked onto Atticus, murder shining in his emerald eyes.

Atticus didn’t seem to notice my shock, or sense that someone else was in the room with us. I felt his fingers plunge into me deeper and a gasp left my lips for a whole other reason. Atticus took that as encouragement and started to move them faster.

If you don’t stop him, I will.

Xavier barked the words, taking a threatening step forward, his fist now clenching at his sides. The words in my mind were so loud, so vicious that it made me flinch.

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

“Stop,” I bit out.

I reached down and shoved him away, his fingers leaving me as he leaned back and smirked. Atticus pushed himself up, kneeling over me as he started to unbutton the top of his pants.

My gaze darted to Xavier and he snarled. My heart quickened and I snapped my attention back to the male whose dick was almost out of his pants. “I’m no longer in the mood. Get out,” I snapped, my pulse sounding in my ears.

Atticus paused. His metallic eyes narrowed before he said darkly, “Then get in the mood.”

My brows shot up incredulously.

“I’m serious. Get out Atticus,” I warned and fiery defiance flared in his gaze.

“I don’t think I will,” he snarled, and continued to try to take off his pants. Rage exploded through me and my power responded by wrapping around his throat and throwing him backward. Atticus grabbed onto the tendril at his neck, eyes wide as his body crashed with a thud onto the wooden floor.

Leaning up, I glared down at him. “Get out.”

Atticus unceremoniously got to his feet, his fists clenched, his teeth bared.

“We aren’t finished,” he snapped, stalking toward me again, but I threw a barrier between us, one that his face crashed into with a nice crunch.

“I say we are done. I'm no longer in the mood, now get out.”

This is the type of male you let into your bed?

Xavier’s voice boomed through my mind disapprovingly and I resisted turning toward his shadowy looming form.

Blood poured from Atticus’s nose and unfiltered rage flickered across his features.

His hand was moving viciously to dismantle my shield and his gaze met mine.

It looked like he was about to say something, but I didn’t give him the chance.

My shadows once again wrapped around his throat, cutting off his words as the door to my room slammed open.

I flung him into the hall and shut the door with a loud thud before locking and warding it with a spell.

Atticus’s curses and shouts could be heard through the door, but I couldn’t make them out. I threw an additional silencing spell to cut out his ranting and turned my attention back to Xavier who was staring at the door murderously.

“Pathetic.” Xavier scowled and turned to face me, a predatory glint entering his gaze.

“How is it you are here?”

“No idea,” he breathed and I watched as his gaze lowered.

My cheeks heated as I remembered I was naked and I cursed, pulling the silken fabric closed, my arms crossing over my chest as I hissed. “You can't be here, you need to leave.”

Xavier chuckled darkly, his form solidifying with my words and he glanced down, his lips twitching. “Looks like I’m staying.”

Scrambling off the bed, I quickly tied the robe and glared at him. “No, you are not.”

His gaze, however, was fixed on my chest, his eyes going nearly wholly black.

“Who did that to you?”

Frowning, I glanced down and spotted the still lingering red line painted across my chest, peeking out between the folds of my robe.

“It’s nothing.”

Suddenly he was in front of me, his palm cupping my jaw as he wrenched my head to the side, his thumb traveling along my chin.

I thought the bruises had already healed, but I guess a few lingered.

My breath hitched, and his touch had my stomach heating but I tore out of his grip, taking a step back.

“Did that male do this to you?” Xavier seethed, his face twisting into murderous rage.

“No. I told you it's nothing.”

“This doesn’t look like nothing. Why isn’t it healing?” He growled again, his face now inches from mine.

“It is healing. Just slowly…” I mumbled. “Why do you even care?”

“Why do I care?” He laughed coldly, his words leaving his lips on a sharp breath. “You are my mate.”

“I am your enemy.”

“Is that so? Is that why you summoned me to your bedroom?”

“I did not summon you.”

Xavier’s face darkened as he breathed. “Oh, but you did, Zara. Do you think I could not sense it? You? Do you think I would allow another male to touch what is mine?”

“I am not—”

“You are,” Xavier said darkly, his eyes darting to my lips. “And somewhere deep inside you, you know it. Want it, me, this, us.”

“You are wrong,” I snapped, although it felt forced. My left arm vibrated, itching to reach out to touch him.

Xavier smiled. “Am I? Then explain to me why I am here, Zara. I felt it, your desire, your thoughts. You brought me here because you wanted my fingers, not those pathetic, useless males inside you. Wanted my lips on your skin.” His gaze rose again to meet mine and I swallowed.

His scent enveloped me, and I couldn't help but respond to it, to him. His proximity. My throat pulsed, my thighs tensing almost imperceptibly as heat spread through my core. His gaze flickered to my neck, a faint smile touching his lips. Desire ignited, the scent of it filling the air.

I cursed internally because he was right, I had been thinking of him. Wanting it to be his fingers, his mouth on mine, not Atticus’s. This infernal bond was becoming a problem. I couldn’t think straight and when did he get so close? Why had I let him?

I watched as his eyes once again lowered, skimming over my body, and a low, gravely rumble vibrated in his chest. When his gaze met mine again, the whites of his eyes were gone. His pupils blown wide.

“So why don’t we finish what you started?” My brows furrowed, but then he added, “Take off your robe.”

Surprise rang through me. He wasn’t serious?

Was he? He couldn’t possibly think I would— flames burned in his eyes, and a gate opened between us, that barrier I felt him always keep tightly locked.

It burst open, crumbling away as a wave of emotions crashed over me.

Desire mixed with murderous jealousy slammed into my chest, taking my breath away.

A primal need coiled its way through my blood, my chest. Our bond.

It thrummed through me, begging me to touch him, to go near him.

It was all-consuming, overwhelming, and heat gathered at my core.

Challenge gleamed in his emerald eyes, and I felt myself reaching toward the sash across my waist. Xavier tracked my movement, his gaze following my fingers as they slowly untied the fabric.
