Leaning against the wall just inside the school’s front entrance, I offer a casual nod to passing students.
Girls glance my way, giggling and whispering behind flirty smiles as they walk by, hoping to get my attention.
But my gaze remains fixed on the door. When she steps inside, the world around me blurs into nothingness.
Serenity’s gray eyes lock with mine, and my heart pounds fiercely in my chest.
She halts, swallowing nervously. “Are you stalking me?”
Without hesitation, I grasp her hand and draw her near.
“I owe you an apology for Saturday. Fighting with your dad right in front of you that was wrong. It won’t happen again.
” Her eyes soften, a crack in the armor she’s held up.
“Apology accepted,” she whispers. I trace her cheek and press my lips against hers forceful, possessive.
A kiss that marks my claim. Murmurs of surprise and admiration echo down the hallway as we stand there.
I pull away, gaze locked on hers. “You belong to me, Serenity.” A shadow of doubt flickers across her face. “I’m yours.”
That’s all I needed. I’ve got her now. The finish line is in sight.
From that moment on, I shed the hard exterior of a future mafia boss and became the boyfriend she deserves.
I shower her with jewelry. I fill her locker with her favorite treats.
I ensure the cheerleaders always sit with the football team at lunch.
And whenever I can, I steal a kiss in front of Rod.
His twisted expression when he sees her in my arms only intensifies my craving to devour my beautiful woman whole.
