Chapter 10
APODIS
Why did he have to be so awkward?
Apodis tried to maintain his composure as he worked in the kitchen, but it was difficult with Gemini staring him down like she wanted to eat him. Humans didn’t seem like a predator species, but at the moment, he felt every bit her prey.
A thought that exhilarated him to no end.
He could see the hunger in her, and it wasn’t just food that would satiate it. Not when she was going into heat. And he was going into rut.
Tasting her had not nearly been enough, and he had no idea how he would lie in the same bed with her tonight without driving himself mad. A cold shower would hopefully help abate the raging erection in his pants, but for now he tried to focus on the task at hand.
“It smells so good,” Gemini said from her chair, her voice coming out in a soft moan that made every muscle in Apodis’ body coil with tension.
The sounds of her pleasure, the taste of her arousal, it had almost put him in a frenzy earlier and his brain was flashing with all sorts of erotic images that were not helping the matter.
After a few seconds to compose himself, he turned to her with a smile.
“I hope you like them.”
He was folding the dough around the mushroom mixture, while the finished dumplings fried in a pan with some synthesized butter.
Gemini stood, limping over to him with a big grin on her beautiful face.
“Can you show me how to make one?”
“Oh, uh, sure,” he said.
He explained the process, handing her a circle of dough and watching as she stuffed it with the filling and folded it with her delicate hands. Not perfect, but an admirable first try, though she seemed disappointed in herself.
“I was never much of a cook,” she said as she took another circle, repeating the process. “I mostly order takeout on Earth.”
Apodis gave her a sly grin as he observed her efforts.
“It just takes practice. I was pretty rusty until I moved here and was forced to cook for myself, but I really love it.”
She gave him a proud smile, holding up her dumpling, which looked much better than the first.
“See!” he said, removing the finished batch from the pan as Gemini plopped the uncooked ones in.
They prepared the rest in silence, and Apodis enjoyed the peaceful monotony of it, though every time Gemini brushed his arm it sent a jolt through him.
When the meal was ready, he helped her to the table, then offered her a plate.
Gemini breathed in deeply, practically rolling her eyes as she smelled the dumplings.
He couldn’t help but stare as she took a demure bite, a tiny bit of steaming juice dripping down her chin, which she caught with her tongue.
She smiled when she saw him staring, and he hastily turned to his own plate.
“These are amazing!” she said, and he gave her an awkward smile.
What would it be like to sit at this table every night with her? He loved Zenith, of course, but it was not the same as having Gemini here too. And clearly the little caerulian was eager for her to stay as well, which warmed Apodis’ heart even more.
They ate eagerly, a pleasant conversation passing between them as if they had known each other for years.
He loved the way her eyes glimmered when she was talking about plants or telling a story, the passion she had for the book she wanted to create.
When he thought of the male who had hurt her, had rejected her in lieu of a robot with no soul, he felt nothing but rage.
Human males seemed unfit for a female as intelligent and sweet as Gemini, but that was what she’d be resigned to if she returned to Earth.
Gemini ate two helpings of food, her eyes half-lidded like she was tired when she was finally done.
“So good,” she said, giving him a sleepy grin.
“I think it’s time for you to go to bed,” he said, and she rolled her eyes, but let him help her to the bedroom.
“Where are you going?” she asked as he headed to the door after he’d gotten her settled in bed.
“I’m going to clean up, but I’ll be back soon.”
“Good,” she said, her eyes already shut as she curled up in her nest. “Don’t take too long.”
Apodis hurried to the bathroom after getting the kitchen back in order, desperate to quell the urge racing through him. He turned the shower on, stepping into a stream of cool water, though it did little to calm his heated flesh.
In an instant, his hand was gripping his cock, unable to wait a moment longer, the sensation of his fingers grazing his hard flesh sending a spark of pain through him. He closed his eyes, letting a cascade of cold water hit his face as if he could drown his shame.
Without thinking, he started stroking himself, feeling the tug of desire as he remembered the taste of Gemini’s beautiful pussy. It was like he had been starving, and her slick was the sweet nectar that had saved him, his mouth watering at the mere memory of her.
Apodis sucked in a breath, canting his hips forward in slow strokes, though it wasn’t long before his rhythm quickened, the blood pumping through him making his cock throb in his hand.
Galaxies, he needed it to be Gemini—her cunt, her mouth, her ass—he’d fuck each part of her until he’d given her every last bit of his seed. He palmed his knot with his free hand, actually whimpering like a pathetic beast at the pain of emptiness.
He bucked into his hand, letting out strained breaths, picking up his pace until he was pumping himself with quick, shallow strokes. The pent-up arousal washed over him like a wave, his cries turning to breathy groans as he fucked his own hand.
He was suffocating, he was drowning, his body radiating heat like he was the sun itself.
Dizziness threatened to overwhelm him, but just as his vision started to darken, an orgasm tore through his body, his cock pulsing and thick bands of cum splattering the tile.
His knot swelled, and it was a terrible sensation without a wet hole to fill, his stroking fingers doing little to ease the pain.
Apodis’ chest heaved as the water drowned his shame, sending his seed down the drain instead of into Gemini where it belonged. Filling her up like a good little omega. Every part of him was on fire, and despite the release, he knew he’d be hard again as soon as he was in the same room as her.
After drying off, he slumped against the sink, checking his comm when it started to buzz. A number he recognized, though it wasn’t someone he knew personally.
Gemini’s team.
Apodis swallowed hard, almost tapping the face to answer the call, but stopped himself short.
He should pick it up. The person probably wanted to check that Gemini was okay, perhaps inquire about when she’d be returning.
But he couldn’t bring himself to do it. He knew if he answered that would mean she’d be gone, and when she left, she wouldn’t be coming back.
The call continued to buzz his wrist for a long while, anxiety twisting in his stomach until it finally stopped. Just a couple more days, that was all. He needed to observe Gemini, anyway, if this really was her first heat.
Yes, it was wise to let her stay until he knew for sure. And if there was something strange going on, he was obligated to tell her, and help her through it.
Not like that, of course. But he could be there for emotional support, bring her the food and water she needed, explain the changes that were happening in her body.
He was doing the right thing. Telling her about the call would only worry her, would make her want to return immediately, and that would be a bad idea if she really was transforming into an omega.
