Folklore scholar Isadora Kane has devoted her career to stories of doors between worlds. She never expected a standing stone in Vermont to open for her, or to seal the moment she enters the Briarthorne.

The enchanted autumn forest is dying beneath a three-hundred-year curse. Its only hope lies with two immortal enemies: Bren, the possessive antlered lord of fire and harvest, and Kael, the patient, dangerous king of living shadow.
