Chapter 37 – Kai #2
Tina sniffles. I peek back out. “Why her? Why is it always Lana? Blake, Kai, you? You’re all the fucking same. What the fuck is it with her?” He pulls the knife back from Lana and points it at Tina.
“I’d watch what you say next, Tina. If I can have the gall to kill my own brother, I won’t hesitate to get rid of anyone else who stands in my way.” She backs up into the stage door. He follows her.
He puts the knife up to her neck. The tears falling. “Just do it already.” Her voice shakes. He pushes the knife deeper. I watch the blood gather under the knife. “That would be too easy.” He holds her gaze. I clench my fist. As much as I hate Tina, she doesn’t deserve any of this.
And Liam being Blake’s brother? Fucking insane. No wonder I didn’t like him. She presses her lips against his. He lowers the knife. I can’t watch this. I retreat into the darkness of the curtains. I’ll be back for you, Lana, I promise.
I get down off the side of the stage. I make my way to the far side of the wall. I tug my knife away and I crawl on the floor. Once I make it to the back of the seats I feel relieved. I peek up. The knife is on the ground near them.
Liam and Tina are naked. Gross. He’s pounding into her. I duck back down. Of course, the psychos had to fuck in the middle of all of this shit. I lay down on the floor and I try to wait for it to be over. It sounds like it could take a while.
I check one more time. Yep they’re still going. I decide to leave the auditorium. I barely crack the door open and slip out. I’m going to look around for a phone.
I stumble around the production studio. It’s like a labyrinth in here. I do come across a woman’s body on the floor next to a receptionist desk. Shit. Tina did that? Or did Liam? Whoever did it was spineless.
Her stomach is cut open, innards laying out, and there’s blood everywhere. I choke back the bile threatening to make its way up my esophagus. I go to grab the phone. The cord is severed and bloody.
I chunk the phone. I make my way outside. There’s trailers out here almost like Midnight Mayhem. The trailer closest to me has the door wide open. I walk into it. There’s blood in here too. Lana’s trailer? I look around.
“Gotcha.” I pick up the phone by the door.
I dial 9-1-1 and I wait. “Nine one one, what’s your emergency.
” I look around the room. Shit, I don’t remember the address.
“Hey, we have a situation here at this little production studio just on the cusp of Portland, Oregon.” I chew on my fingernail while I wait for a response.
“Do you know the location, sir?” I poke my head around trying to see if anything has the address listed. “I don’t. I have sent a woman to the police department. Do you know if there’s units headed out this way?”
She is silent for a few moments. “You said on the cusp of Portland?” She asks.
“Yes ma’am. I sent a woman named Carly to the Portland PD office I would say maybe an hour to an hour and a half ago.
” I respond. “Let me call them and let you know if there’s units headed your way. ” I wait. She puts me on hold.
I’m pacing while I wait. “There are police headed your way.” The line goes dead. Good. Now I can be reckless if I want. I head back into the studio. I try to remember the way back to the auditorium. Once I see the woman’s body I know I’m going the right way.
I recount my steps. I make it back to the auditorium. I crawl back to my spot behind the seats. I peek my head up. I want to burn my retinas. Tina is spread out and Liam is eating her out like it’s his last meal on earth. Fucking gross. How do they have the stamina?
I duck back down and I try not to retch out loud. Once I’ve regain composure, I look up to see Lana has gained consciousness back. Barely but she’s awake.
She looks around groggily. It doesn’t stop psycho one and psycho two. I can tell she’s still disoriented even from this far away. She looks up and her eyes capture my gaze. I shake my head. She looks down at them. She squirms a little. She looks back at me. I shake my head again.
She lies her head down, pretending to still be out of it. That’s my good little actress. I crawl around, staying close to the wall again. I make it back to my spot in the curtains. I poke my head around. I hear Tina cry Liam’s name. I grimace.
Lana didn’t see me move. She looks up briefly and seemingly panics. She turns her head and sees me. I shake my head again. She gets the hint. She lies her head back down. Liam gets up off Tina.
“I hope that satisfies you.” She rolls over.
“Mmmm for now.” She says. I throw up a little.
“Looks like your little tramp is awake after all.” She gets up, stands in front of Lana, fully naked, and grabs Lana’s cheeks in her hand.
I clench my fists. Lana spits in her face. Tina slaps her across the face.
Lana winces. “Did you get to see me come for Liam?” Tina leans into her face. Lana glares. “He made me squirt a lot.” Tina brags. I watch as she shoves her fingers inside of her pussy. Liam watches now. “Eat it bitch.”
Tina pulls her fingers out of her pussy and holds Lana’s face, shoving her fingers into Lana’s mouth. “Suck them.” Tina says. Lana shakes her head. Liam bites his lip. I anticipate what Lana will do.
Tina slaps her again. “I said suck them.” Lana bites down. Tina yells. “You fucking cunt.” Tina pulls her fingers back. She bends down and grabs the knife. Lana looks scared. Liam tilts her head back from behind her.
“You should’ve been a good girl, Lana.” He kisses her neck.
She involuntarily lets out a moan. Tina stabs Lana in the leg.
Lana screams. I grab my knife and I walk out from the shadows.
Tina pulls the knife out. Her gaze meets mine.
“Well, well, if it isn’t Kai, coming to your rescue. ” Liam grips Lana’s throat.
She squirms. “Kai, don’t.” Liam grips her throat tighter. “I didn’t tell you to speak.” I take a few steps closer. Tina puts the knife against her stomach. “Take one more step and I’ll stab her again.”
Liam loosens his hold. Lana gasps for air. She looks at me. I look at her. “Isn’t that sweet, they’re sharing a moment, Liam.” I look at Liam. “I knew you would come for her.” He lets go of her throat completely.
He steps towards me. I point my knife at him. Tina applies pressure on Lana’s stomach. She yelps. “Put the knife down. Or I will shove this knife so far into her abdomen, she won’t be able to have your children.” I lower it.
Lana looks at me. I meet her gaze then look back at Liam.
“Liam. Please let her go. It’s me you want, right?
Because I took her from you?” I bait. Liam laughs.
“No. I want Lana. Tina wants you. That’s how this little arrangement works.
We have our roles. But when you go outside the script…
” He looks at Lana. “…people get hurt.” Lana shifts her gaze from me to Liam.
“Liam, I didn’t even know you.” She states. “Yeah, yeah, save me the sob story of how my brother came from a broken home, a broken family. He didn’t give a shit to mention mom or I. And you’re the tramp that kept him away from us.” Liam holds his hand out to Tina.
She hands him the knife. He looks at Lana and points the knife at her. “Liam, what did you do?” She asks. I already know by the look on her face, she didn’t know the conversation that transpired earlier.
He laughs. “You mean, what did you do, Lana.” She shakes her head. Liam steps closer. So do I. He cuts her cheek. She winces. “Don’t step any closer unless you like her marked up like this.” Liam says to me.
I’m so concerned with Lana that I didn’t see Tina move. She jumps on my back. I try to pull her off of me but I can’t. She kicks the knife out of my hand. It skids to the edge of the stage. She wraps her legs around my head, almost in a headlock.
She flips us onto the floor. My vision swims. Liam stands over me. “I believe these are the words I told my brother before I killed him. You don’t touch what’s mine.” He stabs me in the abdomen and twists the knife. “Tell my brother hi for me.” He starts to twist it again when a shot is fired.
Liam gets knocked off me. The bullet got him in the shoulder.
Tina scrambles to grab the knife and she gets hit in the breast. Lana screams my name.
I start coughing up blood. My vision starts to darken.
The last thing I see, is Lana fighting with what little strength she has left to get out of the chair. To get to me.
I cough up blood again and my vision darkens further. “KAI.” It’s the last thing I hear before I’m dragged under.
