Chapter 37 #2
“My room. Well, my other room, where I’m allowed to go live on socials. If I film a TikTok, it’s in here. A YouTube video? In here.”
“Why? Why lie like this?” I ask.
“It’s what people want to see. It’s what they expect.”
It’s like putting a filter on her entire life, not just a picture. I notice the sliding glass door is boarded up, and right at the time I start to ask about it, she cuts me off, “They haven’t sent anyone to fix that yet.”
That broken door is a pretty good visual of what this room represents. Is that why she smashed it?
She closes the door back and we walk back over to where she feels more like herself. “Carson knew about that room? Did he know about Lindsay?”
“That’s the only room Carson ever saw, and yes, he hates Lindsay.”
“Carson’s never been in here?”
“No. No one knows about this room, really. Nobody is ever here to care. I just can’t sit in that other room and not want to break everything in there.”
Call me a selfish asshole, but it kind of makes me happy that Carson’s never been in the bed I’m sitting on. And why would she choose to show this room to me?
I must zone completely out because I startle when I hear her voice, “Madden?”
“Yeah.”
“What is it?”
Her fingers graze along the tattoos on my forearm.
“I just kind of pictured you and Carson as this power couple. I didn’t really expect you to hide much from him.”
She sighs, “You mean sex.”
“Yeah, I guess I kind of do.” I wince.
“We haven’t had sex. So I guess the image we were portraying to the world worked. Especially if we had you fooled.”
“But you had sex with me?” I blurt.
“Yeah, I did.”
“But not Carson?” I slowly ask, as if I’m trying to figure out what that means in my mess of a brain.
She wraps her arms around my neck, “No.”
Her lips softly touch mine for the first time in weeks, and I realize I’m in trouble when it comes to her. We might not make sense to the world, but we make sense to us.
“What does that mean?” I croak, forgetting my own name as her lips hover over mine.
“It means I like you, stupid.” She teases, her lips falling back down against mine.
I shake my head in agreement as she deepens our kiss. My mom’s voice echoes inside my clouded mind as I ask, “Are you on birth control?”
She nods against me, her lips never leaving mine as we fall against her blankets. My dick pushes against the fabric of my sweats as she reaches up to tug against my hair.
“I should get a condom anyway,” I breathe against her. We didn’t use one the first time but I don’t want to be the one to fuck up her plans with a baby. Even if I am pretty good at pulling out. “Just in case.”
She pulls away with hooded eyes and I allow my head to fall against her headboard.
They are in the car.
“I didn’t bring one in, I’m gonna have to go to my car.”
She rolls over, pulls a condom out of her nightstand, and tosses it against her sheets, “Can you stop freaking out now, please?”
Greedily, I claim her mouth again, slipping my hands under my Legacy baseball shirt she’s wearing and pulling it over her head.
Her bra is light pink and lacy against her dark skin.
I drag my forefinger against the outline and down into her cleavage, touching her full chest, before pulling the see-through fabric to the side, exposing her nipple.I take my tongue against it and watch as it pebbles up before taking it between my teeth.
“Oh my god,” she moans, her back arching off the bed.
“You have the most perfect tits I have ever seen,” I tell her, sucking one into my mouth. “The perfect body.”
She pushes me onto my back, taking my sweats and pulling them down my thighs, before wrapping her perfectly manicured nails around the base of my cock.
My head falls back and I groan when I feel myself hit the back of her throat.
One agonizing stroke after then next until I feel like I am going to shoot my cum down her throat.
I wrap my hands into her hair and pull her off, devouring her mouth with mine and fish for the condom next to us. She pulls it from my hand, slides it down my length, and then sinks down on to me.
She looks like an angel hovering over me, riding my dick.
“I’m going to come fast like this,” I tell her, knowing I was almost there a few minutes ago when I was hitting her tonsils.
She groans and it’s a slow, agonizing pace that she’s using to chase her orgasm. It’s pure torture. After a couple more strokes, I feel her thighs and pussy clench and I’m done.
She shakes against me and she’s fucking loud when she finishes. It sends me right over the edge with her. She rides out her orgasm and doesn’t immediately roll off of me. We lay like that until we both fall asleep.
The next day, I wake up tangled in a mess of Avery’s grey satin sheets.
Her soft dark skin feels like fire against my ink-stained arms, while her hair is fanned out on the pillow beside us.
Her phone buzzing on the floor next to the bed draws my attention.
Messages from Carson are filling the lock screen.
Carson
United front your first day back, right?
No matter how hard I try, I can’t push the uncertainty from my mind. I don’t like her pretending with Carson, I don’t like that she feels the need to.
Carson
I did miss you. I’m glad you’re doing better.
Avery moves around next to me, her eyes opening slowly. “Good morning.”
She kisses my chest, tracing one of the tattoos up the side of my neck, “Your mom just let you get these?”
I shiver as she barely touches them, “Yeah.”
“I like them.”
I knit my brows, not really expecting that. “You do?”
“Yeah, Mad, I do.” She continues kissing, her full lips soft against my skin, “You know why?”
I feel my heart flutter, “Why?”
“Because they’re on you,” she whispers.
A strange feeling creeps into my gut as her phone goes off again, pulling her attention. She slides off of me a little, reaching to the floor for it.
“Can we maybe act normal today at school? Just until Carson and I publicly break up. I just don’t want to send the wrong image, you know?”
I stare at her, getting defensive, “So you can fuck me here in the dark where no one can see, but you can’t act like I exist at school?”
“It’s not like that. I want to be with you, Madden.”
I laugh sarcastically, “Just not when Carson is around, right? Or your cheer team? Or anyone who might catch you hanging out with someone like me.”
She sits back on her heels, defeated, “Madden. Stop. I have to break up with Carson in public first. That’s it. I can’t be seen doing all the things I want to do with you when I’m supposed to be dating him.”
She crosses her arms over her chest, over my baseball shirt. She looks sexy as hell when she’s angry.
I pull her into me again, her eyes locking on mine. “Promise me that it won’t be like this for long. I can’t do this forever. I don’t even like seeing you with him, and I wish he’d lose your number.”
She pushes my black hair off my forehead, “I like you when you’re jealous.”
I smile, “When it comes to you, I’m going to be very jealous.”
She melts into me again, and I push all the uncertainty away.
At least for now. Turning my focus to the next thing that needs my attention.
