Chapter 40 #2
He spins me toward the bed and pins my hands over my head as he lifts the skirt of my costume up and slips my panties to the side. His finger grazes my entrance before pushing hard inside me, almost bruising as he pulls it back out and then twists it around to hit a spot that makes me whimper.
The sound causes him to lose control.
He pulls his fingers from inside me and takes them into his mouth before pulling my panties off completely and disappearing between my thighs.
He devours me, and with each swipe of his tongue, I shake more violently than the one before. I begin to ride his face, “Fuck, Carson.”
That only makes him lick harder, the sound of his name. He pulls his tongue agonizingly over my clit before replacing it with his fingers.
By this point my chest is heaving as I explode against his palm, riding it. When my legs are jello, he lifts me from the bed and I sink myself down onto his dick. He groans as he fills me, and I drag my thumb against his bottom lip before claiming his mouth again.
My heart rate picks up as we move rhythmically against each other.
I reach up to take his mask off but he grabs my hand to stop me and fucks harder.
Alarms go off inside my mind. I can’t help it but imagine this is how it would feel with Nash and the second I let my mind go there.
Like he’d actually be sick enough to do this to me, it makes sense.
“Nash…” I trail off, unable to stop.
His hand grips the back of my neck, “Fuck, Princess.”
Everything is so euphoric, I wonder if I’m imagining this and nothing is actually happening.
That it wasn’t just his voice that maybe I am with Carson and my mind is just fucking with me.
It doesn’t matter because my mind has already been made up.
We both moan collectively as we ride out our orgasms and I don’t push for him to take the mask off.
I think I knew from the first time he kissed me.
Time has passed, but I’m not exactly sure how much. I am still coming down off of an incomparable high. I look over at him, mask still pulled over his face but his body hidden beneath the sheets. My costume lies in a pile on the floor, and I pick it up, slipping it back on.
He stands up, pulling the suit over his boxers, following me out of the bedroom. When I get to the railing that overlooks the living area, I hear Carson’s voice and I freeze.
I knew it.
He’s standing there, in street clothes with his arms wrapped around Avery.
All the stares from down below turn my way, including Carson’s. I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn around to Nash. The Spider-Man suit, no mask.
Tears blur my vision as I stare at him. I’m speechless but not surprised.
Deep down, I knew his touch was too familiar.
As I turn back around, Carson’s stare meets mine, realizing what just happened.
I try to swallow, but the lump in my throat is too big, my mouth is too dry.
His jaw tightens, and Avery’s eyes widen with shock.
This was a fucking test.
I can’t get my feet to move, but I want to get the hell away from here. In the midst of all the chaos, Lainey climbs the stairs, standing in front of us, “Did he hurt you?”
She grabs my arm, trying to pull me away, but Nash doesn’t allow it. “Don’t touch her.”
“Don’t tell me what to do,” she sasses, pulling me towards her.
Drayton and Madden stand behind Lainey, my tears are flowing at this point.
I’m not crying because I’m sad, though. I’m crying because I’m so mad, he did this to prove a point.
Drayton steps between Nash and us, “This is low, even for you.”
Nash pulls his phone from his pocket, causing Lainey to drop my arm. “Nash, no. Don’t do this.”
“No. Go ahead,” Drayton growls. “Whatever it is doesn’t mean shit. I’m sick of you thinking you have some kind of power over me.”
Nash turns his phone in Drayton’s direction, “Let’s tell everyone at this party how perfect Drayton Lewis’ life really is. You knew about your dad’s affair, but no one else does, do they? Looks like maybe there always was trouble in paradise.”
I stare at the screen and watch as Drayton’s face falls. He pushes the phone against Nash’s chest to hide it, “Let’s talk about this somewhere else.”
“Wait,” Madden snaps. “Show me that.”
Nash and Drayton are still staring at each other, but Madden snatches the phone out of Nash’s hand.
“That’s my mom.”
Lainey stares at the screen with Madden, both of them in shock, “Drayton, what is this?” she asks.
“These are old,” Madden states. “How do you have these?”
Drayton looks at the phone, then to Madden, “My dad gave them to me.”
Lainey interrupts them, “Why Dray, why do you have pictures of your dad with Jenny Atwood?”
His eyes flash to Madden, and he falters, “Because he wasn’t just my dad.”
Madden’s eyes turn dark, his jaw tight, but Lainey is much more upset.
“You lied to me?” she questions, fully turning to Drayton.
Drayton grabs her arm, pulling her to him, but she pushes away, “No! Did you know about this when you met me?”
He hesitates a minute before speaking, “Yeah, but—”
“No,” She interrupts, “This entire thing has been a lie? Just a way for you to get closer to Madden?”
Her voice is cracked and weak, and I look at Madden, who is still standing there in shock.
“No,” Drayton quips. “It’s not like that. Well, it was at first but not anymore. Lainey, I love you.”
She steps back defensively when he tries to get close, causing Drayton to shoot Nash a murderous glare.
“Don’t look at him,” Madden warns. “For once, this isn’t his fault. This one is on you.”
He pushes by him, grabbing Lainey by the hand and leading her down the stairs. By now, the attention of everyone at the party is on us. I give Nash one last glance and follow Madden and Lainey down the stairs to the front door.
The shuffling behind me demands my attention, and I turn around just in time to see Nash’s fist connect with Carson’s jaw.
I stand there in shock for a moment as Nash loses his mind,, but I feel the need to walk quickly away, putting as much distance between all of us as possible. Lainey’s sobs fill the silence as she drags me by the hand away from the party.
Finally, I find my voice, “Why are they fighting?”
She stops dead in her tracks, “You don’t know?”
She pulls her phone out, showing me a screen recording of the video posted to Carson’s story that has since been deleted. Emotion fills my throat, and it’s like Chicago all over again. Except this time, the only thing I feel is rage.
The video was taken from my bedroom window.
Only one person could’ve taken it.
Suddenly, everything starts making a little more sense. Carson left the party with Avery as damage control. He chose her, and Nash saw the video, too. It’s why he’s here. He thinks I lied to him about Carson.
I want to be pissed at him but remembering what just happened in Carson’s room, I knew.
I felt it and I knew. I just didn’t care. Nash was testing me, but when things escalated, I knew that it was Nash.
Things with Carson wouldn’t have gotten that far.
Everyone from inside starts to filter out the door, a couple of the guys holding Nash and Carson apart. I glance at Jovie, seeing the smug look on her face, and I snap.
“Madden, pop the trunk,” I demand, walking around the back of his Honda.
“What are you doing?” he asks, watching as I pull a baseball bat from his bag.
“Taking what’s mine.”
I grip the bat with both hands and walk to Jovie’s car, slamming it into the windshield, watching as the glass explodes into the front seat.
Gasps and whispers fill the night air, and I walk across the lawn to Jovie. She looks absolutely terrified as I toss the bat at her feet, taking the one thing she wants away, “Nash will be going to Homecoming with me.”
I step back, and my eyes find Nash, watching as the flashing blue lights reflect in his. He closes the distance between us, grabs my hand, and pulls me behind him as we run.
Suddenly, I know this is nothing like Chicago.
I’m not alone.
I have Nash holding my hand and an invisible crown on my head. One that I plan on keeping there, for now.
“I’m sorry,” he says. “I lost it when I saw that video.”
“That video was old,” I argue. “I knew when you grabbed my wrist that you weren’t Carson.”
“You called me Carson,” he pants, still pulling me behind him. “It made me crazy.”
“I was just playing your game.”
“I’m done,” he snaps. “The games are done. If you think I’m letting anyone else have you now, you’re crazy.”
I stop running, “Do you mean that?”
He pulls me against him, “You’re mine, Princess. I’m done fighting it.”
We cut through the yards, running close to the water before making it to Nash’s house. We round the corner and run straight into an unmarked police car.
I watch as two officers get out, not wearing uniforms.
Detectives.
I feel Nash squeeze my hand protectively.
Is he afraid they are here about the warehouse fire?
“Are you Corinne Clark?”
I feel my throat burn, my voice weak, “Yes.”
“We’d like to ask you a few questions related to the death of Aspen Porter.”
I freeze, watching as my mom and dad appear before me. I have no idea where they came from or that they were here. This couldn’t be good.
“What’s wrong? Is everything okay? I’ve already talked to the cops about Aspen.”
“Miss Clark,” the detective takes a step toward me, Nash’s grip on my hand tightening. “Aspen’s death has been ruled a homicide.”
