Chapter 30 #2
She stiffened when I said her pet name. I am so used to calling her pet or Kitten that it naturally rolls off my tongue.
I know I should use her real name, but I prefer the personal ones I put in place.
It solidified my ownership of her. After all, she is technically my pet.
Her eyes glanced over at our guests before gazing into mine.
" Yes, I feel less tired. Thank you."
I swept my arm towards my kin.
"Kit, I don't believe you have met my brother Zach."
He still had a goofy grin spread across his face, but he nodded, greeting her with the utmost respect. He knew very well if he didn't, I would knock him on his ass.
"It's nice to meet you, Kit. I have heard a lot about you."
Kitten looked surprised. She quirked an eyebrow at Zach.
"Oh, I wasn't aware that Atlas ever brought me up in conversation." He laughed, scratching his chin.
"Oh, he does, trust me. As a matter of fact, I had something to do with him getting you here."
I turned my head towards him, scowling.
My voice was loud and angry. "We don't need to talk about that right now, Zach."
My brother didn't take it any further. He knew I had a mercurial temper, so he backed off, leaning into his chair.
I pointed to Jacob.
“This is my other partner, Jacob. He is my right-hand man. Someone I trust implicitly.”
She looked at him and smiled.
“Nice to meet you, Jacob.”
He nodded with a blank look on his face.
“Same here. I’m sure I will see you around.”
He cocked a brow, a slight grin tugging at the corner of his lips. “If we are done, Atlas, I need to get going. I'd like to take care of a few things at the office.”
I nodded.
“Sure thing.”
I pulled the remote from my pocket and unlocked the doors. We shook hands, and he left.
I looked at both Yara and my brother.
"We are done. I will see you tonight. Yara, you are free to go. Zach, make sure you're logged in and ready to go when the time comes. I don't want any mistakes."
He rolled his eyes, stood up, shook my hand, and headed towards the door. He turned to look at me, a smirk spreading across his face.
"Yo, Atlas, you want to let me out of this prison?"
I shot him an angry glare for busting my balls.
I unlocked the door.
"Good riddance, asshole, I growled. I will be in touch with you later."
He chucked the bird and laughed.
"Oh, Atlas, you are just too easy to annoy."
He glanced over at Kitlyn.
"Do me a favor, young lady. Help my brother with his stress. He needs to tone it down a few notches."
Before I lost my temper, he bolted out the door. He knew it was best to hightail it out of here before I charged at him. Kitten took a seat in the kitchen chair opposite me.
Yara yawned, stretching her arms over her head while purposefully jutting her chest out. Kitten's eyes widened, noticing that Yaras's see-through tank showed off more than it had concealed. Yara looked bored, paying no mind to Kittens' unmistakable look of disgust.
“Well, I think I'll get going. I'll meet you at 6 PM sharp."
She looked at me, then back at Kitlyn.
"Before I go, I must use the facilities, if you don't mind."
I nodded towards the bathroom.
"You know where it is. If you open the windows, use the code to lock them."
She glanced at me, smiling.
"Of course. We wouldn't want your little bird to flee her cage now, would we?."
She smirked at Kit and walked into the bathroom. Kitten's face was red with either anger or embarrassment; I didn’t know. She gave me a dirty look, frowning.
"I don't like that woman. She is practically naked on top and mocks me every chance she gets. I can't help my situation, which is your fault, by the way."
She huffed loudly as she crossed her arms over her chest and shook her leg back and forth. A habit she often did when she was angry or nervous.
I shook my head, running my hand through my hair. Yara went out of her way to annoy Kitten.
I will speak with her about it later. Right now, I want her to finish in the bathroom and leave. I need to plan for Kit tonight while I am away for a few hours.
Yara strolled back into the kitchen with her see-through shirt, screaming-
Pay attention to me!
"Okay, Atlas. I am off to change my top since you find it so offensive."
She looked at my pet, smiling.
"Kitlyn, have a good rest of your day and try to behave yourself. I saw firsthand what Atlas did to you, and I am sure you don't want a repeat performance of that punishment."
I frowned at Yara, not happy with her little dig.
"Okay, enough!" I sneered.
"You need to get going now. I'm warning you, Yara, if you don't stop being rude to my guest, I will spank your ass black and blue as well."
She threw her head back, laughing.
The look on her face screamed,
Challenge me.
"As if you could. There's a big difference between me and your little bug, Atlas. Besides, I was only giving her a bit of advice. I am older, after all. Sorry if I offended either of you."
She threw her hands up in surrender and headed toward the door. I pushed the code on the remote and let her out. I wasn't in the mood for her shitty attitude.
I shook my head.
Fucking women! They're all brats!!
She was right about one thing, though. If I punished her, it would be a bit more challenging than with Kitten. Yara is a trained killer, like me. I know I could overpower her with minimal effort. I am at least seven inches taller, and there is no comparison in strength.
She would be an easy conquest, but that didn't make her less dangerous. I looked back over at Kitten. She was sitting in her chair, glaring at me.
"I don't care if she only tried to advise me, which I know is total bullshit. She doesn't like me, and I certainly don't like her. I know who she likes, though....you!”
She wrinkled her nose at me as the tirade continued.
"Honestly, Atlas, I don't understand why you two aren't a thing. She would welcome your punishments without so much as a whimper."
I looked at my pet, amused, grinning from ear to ear.
“Why, Kitten, I wasn't aware you were so jealous.”
She shot daggers at me.
"I assure you, I am not jealous at all."
I winked at her.
"If you say so, sweetheart. Let's drop the subject; we have more important things to discuss, like who will sit with you while I am gone this evening."
She looked at me while clasping her hands in her lap.
"You mean while you are out killing someone tonight?"
I stood up and walked over to where she sat. I leaned in close to her ear and whispered.
"Yes."
