Four years later

Epilogue

“Where is she?” Kelly Ann called out when she opened the door.

“I’m right here,” I answered, coming out of our room, putting on the emerald earrings that matched my engagement ring.

Kelly Ann rolled her eyes and kissed my cheek. “As much as I love you, honey, I’m looking for my granddaughter.”

“Overthrown by a three year old.” I put my hand on my chest.

“It happens to the best of us.” Kelly Ann walked down the hallway toward Maggie’s room.

Easton wrapped his arms around me, kissing the side of my neck. “I won’t overthrow you,” he whispered in my ear.

“Only because you know she’s going to turn eighteen in fifteen years, and you’ll be stuck with me when she grows up and lives her own life.”

“I’m going to be sick,” Easton murmured. When I turned to look at him, he did look a little green.

My poor husband refused to think of our precious girl living her own life. He had a couple more years to get used to it.

“You ready, Trouble?”

“Almost. Let me go say goodbye.”

Robert popped into the house. “Your grass looks amazing. Even with the creepy gnomes,” he muttered.

Robert followed us to where we heard our little girl having a tea party with her grandma. We moved into a house on the same street as Easton’s parents when we found out we were pregnant with Maggie. Of course, Jules and Cole moved right next door with their little boy, Matthew.

My husband had been on a mission since he saw Gnomen and Gnomar on my kitchen island.

He’d been buying me gnomes whenever he found one he thought I’d like.

I loved them all, even Jernome, but Gnomen would always be my favorite.

My collection of gnomes were all over our lawn, and Easton happily paid the fines to the HOA every month.

“We’re here,” Jules called out while we were saying goodbye to Maggie.

“Here,” Matthew called out.

Maggie heard her favorite person and got up, running as fast as her chubby legs would carry her. Jules and I smiled down at our little people.

“Why does this scare me?” Easton asked.

“Because if those two end up together, our wives will never let us live it down,” Cole answered.

Jules and I sighed.

“Thank you for watching Matthew,” Cole said, kissing Kelly Ann’s cheek.

“Nonsense, he’s my grandson just as much as Maggie is my granddaughter. When does Aurora come back?”

“She’s in England for another week.”

Aurora’s little project wasn’t so small anymore. It launched internationally with the help of Marketing Madams. Aurora was on a big photoshoot, and if Jules and my snooping were anything to go by, she was going to bring home more than souvenirs. She’d be bringing home a hot souvenir.

Marketing Madams was everywhere as well. We had offices all over the United States hiring mostly women, giving them a chance in a male-dominated field.

“Let’s get going. We are supposed to meet Faith and the band backstage before the show.” Easton kissed Maggie and Matthew on the cheek before throwing me over his shoulder, knowing I would keep saying goodbye if he let me.

Jules and I stayed in contact with Faith, and it just so happened the band was playing in a venue nearby. She invited us to go see them, and of course we said yes.

“Do you want to get a drink before we go in?” Cole asked after we parked, showing our IDs to prove we were on the guest list.

Fucking fancy.

“Not for me,” Jules and I said at the same time.

“Wait! Really?” we cried out, again both of us in sync.

“What am I missing?” Cole asked, looking between his wife and me.

Easton clapped him on the back. “We are in for nine months’ worth of cravings again, buddy.”

Cole looked shell-shocked before he dove out of the car and pulled Jules out. He swung her around, kissing her soundly. “This is the best present ever,” Cole cried.

“Even better than the letter opener Easton gifted you back on our wedding day?” Jules asked.

Cole stopped twirling her, his face guilty. Jules smacked him on the shoulder. “You’re an idiot.”

“I’m your idiot,” Cole answered her.

Easton pressed his forehead to mine. “Feelings check?”

“All of the good ones,” I answered.

“I love you, Trouble.”

“Love you more, sir.”

“I’m so glad you didn’t have sex with my parents,” he whispered across my lips.

“Me too. Also, I’m never giving you road head.”

We both burst into laughter.

“You’re my unicorn, Trouble.”

“Being that you have the horn in your pants, you’re my unicorn.”

“Come on,” he said, pulling me out of the car. “Let’s introduce this baby to their mom’s favorite band.”

“Hey, they’re your favorite band, too.”

He winked at me before pulling me into him and kissing me soundly.

I fucking love this man. And I love our life.

This man is my gnome … I mean Home.
