35. Sam

Sam

My chest tightens and my stomach hurts as I run my fingers over Kioni’s bike.

The feelings I have been battling win the fucking war when it hits me hard how much I miss her.

That hug wasn’t long enough, and now I’m worried.

I’m sure this will be a normal situation for her, but the look on Ryker’s face told me it’s serious.

I grab her helmet, hugging it to my chest before putting it in my car so nobody steals it.

I can’t stay away from her any longer. I’m not even sure why I have gone this long.

Pride maybe? To know I was in control? To see how long she would still chase me while remaining steps behind, so I knew for certain none of this was fantasy and it was indeed very real.

My desires is what led her to me, but not the sole reason she chose me.

She didn’t manipulate me and use them for her own gain.

I held the reins in my hands every single time.

I got to explore safely. She gave me my freedom.

She unlocked the vault and loved every fucked-up creature that was inside.

They were probably dark, scary monsters with rainbow collars and fluffy slippers.

A blend of hell and cuteness only she can handle.

I was going to go grab lunch, but I’m not so hungry anymore.

I have some snacks in the break room that will suffice should my appetite return.

Knowing I won’t be able to relax until I see Kioni and talk to her again, I walk back inside and clock in early.

When my client shows up before his appointment time, I take him back.

I’ll be ahead of schedule, which means I’ll get off sooner.

Should I make a grand gesture or just text her a bunch of green hearts?

I could show up at the station with a big sign that says I’m Green For You and fuck her in front of the large mirror in the gym.

Ohh… I squirm when the image in my mind goes straight to my hellcat.

In front of a mirror is a delicious idea.

I never got to see the cock she used to fuck me and I’m picturing it now.

On all fours with her behind me. Whyyy have I waited this long to let her come back to me?

We have so much time to make up for and so many new ways to fuck and toys to use now that I know she’s Shadow.

I hope the man on my table keeps his eyes closed because I’m smiling so big right now and it has absolutely nothing to do with him.

I get lost within the motions, my mind elsewhere, until the soft timer goes off telling me his hour is up.

“I’ll step out so you can get dressed,” I whisper.

He groans and nods, half-asleep. When he finishes, I walk with him to the front to pay.

“Would you like me to schedule your next appointment?” I ask him, glancing over at some of my co-workers and their clients gathered around looking at someone’s phone.

“Put me on for four weeks from now and send me a reminder text,” he replies kindly before handing me a tip and walking out.

I enter his appointment and check mark send confirmation and reminder texts before telling my next client that I’ll be back out to get her in a few minutes after I clean my table.

Curiosity nags at me at the conversations I’m not privy to when I notice their faces of shock…or was it fear? I wipe everything down as quickly as I can so I can ask my next client what they are all talking about. She’s a nosy one, so I’m certain she already has all the details.

“So…what’s all the commotion out there?” I ask Tessa as I walk with her to my room.

“You haven’t heard?” she replies loudly.

No, Tessa. That’s why I’m asking you!

“I guess not,” I reply, making sure my tone doesn’t convey what I really wanted to say.

“There is an active bank robbery going on! There are cops and SWAT surrounding the building, and there are several hostages inside.”

My legs turn into limp noodles, and I have to grab the wall to keep myself upright.

“Oh my goodness, Sam! Are you okay?” She places her hand on my shoulder, and I try my hardest to force air into my lungs.

“My girlfriend is there,” my voice comes out weak.

“Are you sure? I didn’t tell you what bank it was.”

“She’s an officer and took off to an emergency while I was on my lunch break. She has to be there.”

“I’m sure she’ll be okay, sweetie. They train for situations like this.”

I shake my head rapidly. “You’re right,” I agree with her and stand upright. Ki can handle this. She will be just fine.

“Get undressed and I’ll be right in. I’m going to grab my phone and keep it in the room if that’s okay with you. I want to know if she tries to call me.”

“Absolutely.” Her tone changes to sincere, and she waves me off to go get my phone and shuts the door.

I usually keep my phone in my pocket, but this skirt doesn’t have any. I have no missed calls or texts from Ki. That means nothing.

Me: Please let me know you are okay.

I get rid of the timer that turns my screen off on my phone that way I can see immediately if Kioni responds to me. My vision gets blurry the longer I stare at my phone, unable to look away. Come on, baby, tell me you are okay. I need to know you are okay.

The soft timer, set so quietly as not to disturb the client, startles me.

It’s been an hour already? An hour and still nothing from Ki.

How long do bank robberies take? Shouldn’t it be over by now?

I’m in a trance while I take Tessa to the front desk.

She pays and hands me a tip, and I do my best to smile at her.

“She’s going to be okay,” she assures me again, placing her hand over mine.

I nod and smile again, pretending that I’m okay when my insides hurt like they’re all tied in a big knot.

“Sam!” Ben shouts when he spots me. “You don’t look so good. Is she there? She’s there, isn’t she?” he rambles.

“I—I don’t know. She won’t answer me,” I tell him. I attempted to call her the moment I finished with Tessa, but it went to voicemail. He hugs me, then someone in the lobby announces that there was an explosion at the bank and ambulances are everywhere.

I inhale a ragged, painful breath, and Ben steadies me. “I have to go,” I tell him, attempting to clock out with shaky fingers.

“Be serious for a moment, Sam. You cannot go to the scene. That’s too dangerous and won’t help anyone.”

“I can’t stay here, Ben,” I cry.

“Go to the station. I’m sure someone there will have more information than the news reporters.”

“Yes! Thank you.” I sprint out the door and speed to the station. Who’s going to pull me over? They’re all busy.

I go straight to Marlene. “Kioni and Ryker. Are they okay?” Desperation is heavy in my voice.

“There are officers being taken to the hospital. Who they are…I don’t know that yet. You can stay here until we get more details.”

A tear runs down my cheek, and I hiccup on a sob. “I’ll check there. Can you please call me if you hear anything?”

“Sam, it’s going to be a madhouse there. You’ll have better luck waiting here with me,” she shouts, but I’m already out the door.

Me: Green. Green. Fucking Green.

Marlene was right. The hospital is a madhouse not just with patients but with reporters as well. Nobody will take the time to talk to me. I finally spot a familiar face and zone in on him. What’s his name? What’s his name? Greg…Gage…Gar…..GARRETT!

“Garrett, PLEASE don’t shrug me off. Is Ki or Ryker here?”

“They’re on the second floor,” he clips, placing his hand on my shoulder as he moves me to get past.

I jog to the elevator and press the button repeatedly until the doors finally close.

They are at the hospital, so that means they were hurt.

But how hurt? “Nurses’ station…nurses’ station,” I mumble under my breath while speed-walking around corners.

Why is this such a maze? To disorient patients so they don’t leave?

“Kioni Hayes,” I blurt out when I spot someone in scrubs. “Can you tell me if she’s here?” I beg.

“Sam?” A male voice comes from behind me. I turn to find Ryker walking down the hall.

“Oh, thank God, you’re okay!” I meet him halfway and wrap my arms around him in brief relief, and then pull away to look up at him. “Where’s Kioni?”

“I’m right here, love.” I hear her voice before I see her.

She has a small bandage on the side of her forehead, but otherwise looks unharmed. She’s okay. I run to her and wrap my arms around her neck, and she lifts me into her arms, squeezing me back.

“I was so scared,” I admit, not letting her go even though we are making a scene.

“I’m sorry, pup, I didn’t have my phone and was forced to come to the hospital afterwards.”

“Are you hurt?” I pull back just enough to look over her face and rest my forehead against hers.

“Nothing I can’t handle,” she assures me, and I smash my lips to hers.

She kisses me back with urgency, and when we come up for air, I give her everything…“Green.”

A smile spreads across her beautiful face, and she kisses me until Ryker coughs, “Ahem,” to get our attention. I unwrap myself from around her, and she puts me down, threading her fingers through mine.

I squeeze her hand and rest my head on her shoulder as we walk out of the hospital to my car.

We get food and then stop by my house to pick up Nyx and an overnight bag for both of us.

We will stay the night with Kioni and Ryker.

Nyx more like grunts instead of growls when she jumps into the backseat with Ryker.

Like she’s annoyed to be sharing space with anyone but her mommy.

He’s extra still in the back seat because every time he moves too quickly, her head jerks towards him.

I think she’s aware people are timid of her, and she does things just to mess with them.

I’m not sure where I expected their house to be, but I did not expect her to say turn left at the end of my road and then turn left again on the first road after.

“Really?” I groan, narrowing my eyes at her when we pull into their driveway. She tries not to laugh, but fails.

“I needed to be close to you.” She shrugs.

“And you went along with all of it,” I state, looking at Ryker when we all get out of the car.

“Pretty much.” He gives me the same shrug Ki did, like this is such a small, insignificant detail.

“Come on, baby,” I call out to Nyx. She hops out of the car, and I wait for her to sniff around the yard and use the bathroom before calling for her to follow us inside.

Ryker goes to his bathroom to shower, and we go to Kioni’s room while Nyx sniffs around.

I plop her bed on the floor next to Kioni’s and place her food and water bowl beside it.

I spin around, taking it all in. Their house is a lot bigger than mine, but mine has more stuff.

“You need to decorate,” I laugh, and she comes up behind me and snakes her arms around my middle, nuzzling her nose into my neck and inhaling deeply.

“I was waiting for you to decide where you wanted to live. There was no reason to decorate this house if I had to move shortly after.” She smiles against my neck.

I turn to look at her. “Elaborate,” I demand the way she always does.

“I knew from the moment I saw you, little wolf, that you were mine. I told you this already. It was only a matter of time until I was able to catch you. So yes, I have been waiting until you told me where you want us to live before I made it a home.”

It should scare me how obsessed and unhinged she is, but she’s…mine. I get all of her attention, her love, her lust, and I thrive in it. She makes me feel comfortable being…me.

“Show me,” I whisper. “I want you to show me Shadow without being blindfolded. Not now, but when I’m not expecting it. I don’t want our fun to stop. I need all of you.”

She spins me around to face her, cradles my face in her hands and presses her lips to mine, swiping her tongue over my bottom lip until I open for her. Her kiss is slow and deliberate. “Just because I caught you doesn’t mean I’m done playing with you, pup.”

Nyx settles into her spot, and I follow Ki into her shower. Dark bruises are splattered across her skin, but she assures me she’s fine. That they look worse than they are. I’m not sure if I believe her or not.

“Will you tell me what happened?”

“I’d rather fuck my girlfriend,” she replies, steering the conversation away.

“Please?” I pop my bottom lip out and she smacks it with her finger.

“I’ll tell everything one day, but for now I’ll give you a shortened version.

” She kisses the tip of my nose. “A man recently lost all of his money and had dangerous people after him to get the money back, so he and some sleaze bags attempted to rob a bank. They were stupid and used an explosive to open the vault when we made our way inside. They died, we didn’t. ”

To me, that seems to sum it up, so I’m not sure what else there is to explain.

I guess she’ll tell me another day. She’s probably exhausted.

We finish in the shower, and when it’s time to put on pajamas, I ask Ki for a shirt of hers instead.

This way, I can be wrapped in her while also being wrapped around her.

She moves the comforter down so we can climb into bed, but tugs me on top of her before I can make it to my side.

“I’ve been deprived of your delicious cunt. I need to taste you and feel you come undone on my tongue before I can fall asleep.”

I slide my shorts off and crawl up her body, hovering over her before she tugs me down.

Warmth from her tongue sends pleasure pulsing through my core instantly.

A moan rumbles in my throat, and I grip the headboard.

She devours me as if I’ve starved her, gripping my thighs and burying herself between my thighs until I’m sure she can’t breathe.

When she adds her fingers into play, it doesn’t take long for me to come, riding my orgasm out on her face, gripping the headboard until my knuckles are white.

She consumes every drop of me, kisses my inner thighs and then my mound before she releases her grip to let me off.

I slip my shorts back on, and she’s smiling softly, but her eyes are fluttering closed.

Exhaustion from her long, painful day pulling her under quickly.

She wraps her arms around me, fusing our bodies together. “Please don’t leave me again. I was lost without you.”

I seal my lips to hers, and she kisses me back lazily.

“Green for you…always,” I promise. She falls asleep almost instantly when I rest my head on her chest, holding me tight against her. Comfort seeps into me, and it’s not the blanket or the mattress. It’s her.
