Sam doesn’t stir when I brush the hair off her face and tuck it behind her ear.
Her lips are parted, and her breath skates across my neck with each exhale.
The second morning she’s slept in. I’m not sure if it’s the medicine or the fact that she woke up in the middle of the night again crying.
And then she cried harder, saying that I was going to treat her like a broken doll again tomorrow.
I know what she meant. That I wouldn’t play with her.
So now I stare at her, admiring how fucking beautiful she is and contemplating what I’m about to do.
Her hands aren’t what I’m worried about. It’s the wounds I cannot see.
Slowly pushing her to lie on her back, I get out of bed at a snail’s pace so as not to disturb her and get my devil’s mask.
“Come, Nyx. Out. Go get Ryker,” I shoo her quietly out of the bedroom before locking the door. Life is going to be so much easier now that she listens to me.
I shimmy out of my shorts and toss my shirt to the side before sliding the mask over my face.
She tries to pull away when the cold metal touches her skin.
My heart pounds as I reach between the mattress and headboard to grab the restraint.
If she pulls too hard, she could cause herself pain.
She’s not fragile, I remind myself, and if I treat her like she is, that will hurt her worse.
Before I can change my mind, I hook the clip to the chain on the handcuffs.
She meets resistance when she attempts to roll over in her sleep and groans.
Wakey, wakey, pup. Time to play.
Her breath catches, and she tugs against the restraints. “Ki,” she cries out, the panic in her voice piercing me right through my chest.
“Shh,” I soothe, stroking her cheek. “You’re safe, Sam.
The only devil in this room is me.” She rapidly blinks her eyes into focus, her chest heaving with jagged breaths that gradually even out at the sound of my voice.
Her eyes devour my naked body, and when they meet my mask again, her face breaks out into a grin.
“I’ll never see you as broken. Only ever as mine. ”
I’ll make sure her body will know no one other than me. Every memory of us will destroy the rest, pushing them out until all that’s left is me and her. Her heart will only ever know love. Her ears will only ever hear devotion. And her body will only ever feel worshiped.
I slide my hand to her throat, and she tilts her chin up, giving me clear access.
She rubs her thighs together when I tighten my grip, and my mouth waters, knowing how wet she’s going to be for me.
Goosebumps scatter across her skin as I lift her shirt, allowing my fingers to lightly brush over her stomach.
I lift the mask off my face enough to flick my tongue over her pebbled nipples, continuing to shove her shirt until it lay across her eyes.
Her body tenses when I block her vision, and I “Shh” her between kisses up her chest to her neck.
“Good girl,” I praise, removing the shirt from her eyes to dangle around her wrists.
“I have a surprise for you.” Her eyes track my movements, and she nibbles on her bottom lip when I pull out the nipple clamps.
I wiggle them in front of her, the delicate chains swaying back and forth.
One with tiny golden suns and butterflies, the other with moons and stars. Like both sides of her.
I pinch and pull her nipples before spreading the clamps open and securing them to the little mounds.
She tries to lift her head to see. “They look stunning,” I tell her, cupping each breast into my hand, the chains cascading over my fingers.
“Are you ready to play, little wolf? The sun may have already risen, but I assure you, stars will fall soon enough.”
“Please,” she whimpers, and I rip her shorts down her legs.
A dark chuckle rumbles through me when her legs fall open automatically.
Fuck, I wish I could keep this on for her while also being able to feast. I grab one ankle, bend her knee, and extend her leg until her ankle is next to her head.
The band is already attached to the restraint behind the mattress.
All I have to do is strap it around her ankle.
I trail my hand down the back of her leg to the glorious heaven between her legs.
I dip a finger inside while I push her other leg back, spreading her open for me.
She hums in her throat and I circle her clit, teasing her before abandoning the sweet bud to restrain her other ankle.
My pussy is pulsing frantically, begging for her warmth and cum to drown me.
Horny doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel when I’m around her, see her, think of her.
She drives me mad, and when she’s spread wide open like this for me with no way to escape, it makes me feel like a feral animal.
All I want to do is grind against her sweet heaven all fucking day until my legs and cunt fall off or I fucking die.
I settle between her thighs and hover over her, holding my body up with one arm while the other reaches between her thighs. One finger slides in too easily, so I add another, then another, fucking them into her roughly, allowing the heel of my hand to rub against her clit.
“Open your eyes and look at me. I want to watch you come.”
She falls apart underneath me. She’s still chasing the high as I rip the mask from my face and throw it to the side with too much force, hitting something and causing it to crash to the ground.
I lick and suck and devour her remaining ecstasy until she’s a quivering mess and my lips are glistening.
I crawl back up her body and kiss her, sliding my tongue against hers, and reach into the open drawer to grab the pink bullet from inside.
“You’re perfect. And if anyone ever says any different, I’ll kill them.”
She licks herself off her lips and eyes the toy in my hand. “How many times do you think you can come against my pussy?” She whimpers and I unhook an ankle, positioning us how I want, my cunt hovering over hers. So pretty. And so fucking mine. My head falls back when her warmth envelops me.
She moans, moving her hips, chasing my movements. The bed groans, and heavy breathing fills the room. “Ki,” she says my name like a prayer, and my soul answers.
“I love you.” My breath catches in my throat, my abs tighten, and pleasure soars through my body, erupting from my core.
“I love you,” she screams out, arching her back off the bed.
The bullet buzzes in my hand, and I don’t stop my movements as I spit on the tip and slide it between us.
A sharp inhale fills her lungs, and her body trembles.
This is a powerful little tool. My entire body convulses, and I dart my hand out next to her to hold myself upright.
“Fuck,” I pant and she cries out underneath me.
My lips crash to hers, swallowing her moans.
Forcing my trembling body up, I lean back to watch, holding the toy still and halting my movements for this one, letting our climax wash over us as we are entangled together.
“Babe, I can’t—” she begs, and I turn the vibrator off, unable to continue either. My body jerks when my clit brushes against her as I detangle ourselves. I remove all of her restrains and kiss the marks they left behind.
“Are you okay?”
She nods, sweat dampening her forehead. “Yes. But I don’t think I can stand up yet.”
I chuckle and force my own shaky legs over the side of the mattress. “I’ll be back with your medicine, breakfast, and coffee.”
She reaches for me, and her face pinches when she grabs my arm. I cradle her hand in mine and kiss her palm. “Lie with me for just a few moments like this.”
I can’t deny her. She moves over so I can lie next to her, and she climbs on top of me. “Skin to skin is healing,” she states, resting her head above my heart. I trace my fingers up and down her spine and play with her hair. My entire world is in my arms right now, and I never want to let her go.
When her stomach rumbles, she lazily climbs off me, and we get dressed. Ryker is gone, probably to work. Nyx glares at me, still mad about being locked out of the bedroom. The house is quiet.
“When are you going back to work?” she asks, filling the toaster while I make our coffee. This is a very late breakfast, but there’s no rush. The day can start whenever we want or need it to.
“When you are okay to be here by yourself.”
She’s staring at the object between her hands as if she’s studying it. I chuckle quietly, taking the avocado from her.
“I’ll be fine. We can prep stuff ahead of time. The bandages won’t be on forever, and I’ll be able to close my fist more each day. I’ll be careful.”
Not wanting to add to any lingering dark thoughts swirling around in her mind, I don’t tell her I’m scared of leaving her side. That those moments without her killed me, and my heart races, and I feel like I’m suffocating when I so much as think of being away from her right now.
“Sounds to me like you’re trying to get rid of me already,” I joke.
She elbows me in the ribs. “It’s not that. I just don’t want you to stop your life because I got injured. I won’t be able to go back to work for weeks. At least not to the spa.”
Sam loves the calm, but with the right amount of chaos. Not working for weeks is going to drive her nuts.
“How about this,” I counter, decorating her toast with the sliced avocado and sprinkling it with salt, pepper, and seasoning. “When you can do this yourself, I’ll go back to work.”
“Deal,” she concedes, lifting it to her mouth and taking a bite before carrying it to the table.
I trail behind with her coffee. As much as I despise waking up before the sky, I miss our mornings on the porch watching the sunrise together.
Maybe the nightmares won’t wake her tonight, and tomorrow will start anew.
My parents show up mid-afternoon with several foil pans filled with dinners.
“Oh, my goodness, mama,” I laugh, moving things around in the refrigerator to fit them all.
“That’s not even all of it, Ki,” my dad chimes in.
“I’ll be right back with the freezer meals,” my mom yells over her shoulder before walking back outside. I look to Sam and she’s covering her mouth, her shoulders shaking with silent laughter.
“These can be dumped in a crock-pot,” she explains, handing me several gallon bags filled with random ingredients. She wrote on each one with a marker to show cooking times.
“Thank you so much, Mrs. Hayes,” Sam says, appreciation shining in her eyes.
“Oh, honey, call me Mom,” she replies, pulling Sam into a hug. “You’ve been through enough. Don’t none of you need to worry about cooking for a few days. Oh—” she yelps grabbing her chest. “Ryker’s grandma sent over some pies. I forgot them in the backseat.”
My dad grabs her by the shoulders, “I’ll go get them, sweetheart.”
She finally wraps her arms around me, and I hug her back, patting her on top of the head, a reminder that I’m taller than her and she hates it.
She pulls back and pushes my hand away. “How are you doing, hun?” she whispers.
I nod. “I’m okay.”
She cocks her head, not believing me.
“I’ll be fine, Ma. Almost losing her was hard. I’m taking time off work for her, but also for myself. I can’t be away from her yet.”
“Your heart will ache every time you are away from her from here on out. That’s what happens when you find your soulmate.”
She extends her arm towards Sam, and she abandons the pie to join the hug.
“I’m so happy you two found each other. The love you two share makes my mama heart so full.”
She kisses both our cheeks and then tells us to sit down while she does the dishes and vacuums the floor.
There’s no point in arguing with her. Dad follows behind to be her cleaning buddy, as usual.
Never telling my mom no and always helping her with everything.
I finish plating Sam her slice of pie and grab one for myself, and we enjoy our sweet treat while being cared for.
Moments like this allow me to see children in our future.
I love this woman so fucking much, I could only imagine how much I would love a miniature version.
I whisper, “I love you,” and she smiles, a smudge of pie filling on her bottom lip.
“I love you more,” she replies quietly.
I shake my head. “Impossible.”
