Chapter Twenty-Two

Later that night, after we checked into the hotel and walked into our room, I was tempted to bring up Brandon.

I was curious to see where Kellan’s head was at about seeing him again.

But I didn’t mention the subject because selfishly, I was anxious for sex and didn’t want to waste any time talking about his cousin or ex.

As soon as he went into the bathroom to get ready for bed, I went about stripping out of my outfit. I only left on my padded bra and the lacy camisole covering my upper half.

Carefully, I positioned myself on my side, my naked lower half on display, and looked over my shoulder so I could see his response. I got what I wanted when he came out of the door.

He stopped suddenly. “Now there’s a sight.”

“You did say you were an ass man.”

He wasted no time walking over to the bed, where he caressed my backside with his hand. “Am I ever. But how do you feel?” He was considerate, as always.

“Like I’ve had to wait forever for this night to come. It’s my window, and sex is officially back on the table.”

He grinned, rubbing his hand down my thighs and calf. “God, you’re the sexiest woman.”

I wanted to believe him. Even though a drop of insecurity crept up, reminding me I wasn’t the same woman who’d once joined him in the shower or who could lie fully naked on the bed for him to see. But I would be again someday. And for now, his expression left no doubt he meant the words.

“Are you comfortable enough for us to put pillows under you to raise your hips?”

Evidently, he was going straight for sex.

Not that I was complaining. It had been a month, and I could hardly wait to have him inside of me.

“I think so.” I shifted while he put the pillows under my stomach, allowing my ass to tilt up for him.

I was shaking with the anticipation of his touch, so I jerked when instead I felt the sensation of his tongue licking my pussy from the back.

“Oh, wow,” I murmured.

“You taste incredible.”

“You sure the chemo hasn’t altered anything?” Could I help if I was self-conscious?

“You taste like you. I promise.”

Adding to the welcomed assault were his fingers, dipping into me slowly. “You’re wet for me, aren’t you?”

“I am. I feel as though we’ve been waiting forever.”

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“I swear if you don’t fuck me soon, I may just hurt you.”

His chuckle filled the room. “So, taking my time and making you come with my mouth isn’t what you want right now?”

“God. I want that, too. I’m greedy.” And I was. I desired it all, like a kid in a candy store who’d been denied sugar over the last month.

He gave me one more stroke with his tongue before getting off the bed and going to his suitcase to retrieve a condom. He had it sheathed in record time before getting back on the bed.

It did something to me knowing I could still turn him on.

“Have I told you lately how much I love your ass?” His rough hands caressed each of my globes.

“Mm, good thing.”

His fingers traveled down, parting my lips and finding me more than ready for him. “I’m trusting you to tell me if I get too rough, you understand? Because I don’t want to piss you off by continuing to ask.”

I knew what he was saying. He needed to believe I’d warn him if anything started to hurt. Since I didn’t yet know how my body would feel post-surgery and post-chemo, I appreciated his desire to be careful.

“I do understand. Now put it in me.” I wasn’t above begging at this point. I was so aroused, I was shaking. “Please.”

“Okay, sweet talker.” He chuckled, lining himself up with my entrance before pushing in slowly.

I nearly wept with pleasure that everything still fit as it once had. Yes, I was irrational in having worried it might not work. On the other hand, I noticed he paused. Fortunately, I understood. He might not want to ask if I was okay, but he needed me to assure him I was.

“You feel amazing. Don’t stop.”

I could practically hear his breath expel. His hands came up to my hips to grip me. “You feel amazing, too.” He pulled slightly out before thrusting back in. “So good.”

I pushed back until his hips were resting against my ass.

Fully seated inside of me, he seemed to savor the moment, before starting to move. Slowly at first, he began to pick up the pace as I whispered words such as “so good, keep going” in case he’d had any thoughts to the contrary.

The build was starting. As if he knew it, too, he reached around with his talented fingers and zeroed in on my throbbing clit.

It took almost nothing to set me off, but he wasn’t done.

Instead, he channeled his efforts into rolling his hips and alternating with deep thrusts.

My pussy contracted around him, surprisingly building to another climax.

“I’m close again,” I panted.

“Me too. Come with me, gorgeous.”

Ensuring I would, his thumb pressed on my back hole, slipping inside and causing me to cry out with the intensity of the climax crashing over me.

“Holy crap,” I mumbled, feeling his kiss on my back before he pulled out and got off the bed.

I couldn’t move. I was boneless in such a glorious way. I could vaguely hear him in the bathroom with the sound of running water. Then there was weight on the bed with his return.

“Hey, baby, you okay?”

“Mm-hm. Better than okay. The move at the end was unexpected.” Not that I minded one bit.

His hand trailed over my back and up to my shoulders. “Preview for the kinky times ahead.”

I giggled. “It was a nice preview.”

“Come here and snuggle with me.”

He helped me move so I was on my side looking at him. Once I was settled, he took my face between his hands. His expression was intense and deep. So intimate. I wondered what he was thinking. But he didn’t share what was in his head. Instead, he captured my lips in a hungry kiss.

I’d missed this. But my eyes were heavy now. Sex had completely sedated me.

“Sleep, gorgeous.”

I was already halfway there.

It wasn’t until the next morning, after a round of leisurely sex and a subsequent nap, that we headed downstairs to the lobby for breakfast. I brought up the subject of his cousin. “I take it you’re still not on speaking terms with Brandon?”

He stuffed a bite of waffle in his mouth and sighed. “You’d take it correctly. I haven’t seen or spoken with him in years.”

His jaw was doing that weird thing, indicating that he was holding on to whatever anger he had.

It made sense Brandon would attend his sister’s wedding.

And it made sense for the family to be on edge about Kellan and Brandon being in the same room for the first time in years.

“Will it be a problem at the wedding? Because I have to tell you I definitely don’t have the shoes for breaking up a fight. ”

Tension left his face at my joke. “Of course not. Not only would I be afraid of facing your wrath, but having to deal with my mother and sister afterward would be no joke, either. And that would follow the bride getting a hold of me. Besides, I have nothing to say to him. Sorry I didn’t mention he’d be here before. I must’ve put it out of my mind.”

I doubted that. “It’s fine. Just tell me if you start getting annoyed, so I can drag you to a coat closet or something.”

His brows shot way up. “What if I say he’s annoying me now?”

“Then we’d go back up to the room. You know, the same type your parents have their little anniversary games in.”

He covered his ears like a little kid. “That was mean. And I’ll be sure to inappropriately return the favor.”

My laughter came easily. “I think it’s nice to see your parents keep things fresh.”

He was shaking his head, back to eating. “I applaud their efforts as long as I don’t have to hear about it. Now, how about we get back to talking coat closets at the reception? I’m a big fan of that subject.”

In the afternoon, I got ready for the wedding in the hotel bathroom. As I dressed and finished my makeup, I felt sexy and beautiful. Looking in the mirror, I didn’t see a woman with cancer. Instead, I saw a woman with hope in her expression, someone excited about getting a reaction from her man.

Kellan didn’t disappoint. One moment he was arranging his tie in the dresser mirror, the next he glanced over and did a double take. The epic kind you see in movies. His jaw hung open, and his eyes bulged. “You’re fucking stunning.”

My hands smoothed down my dress. I’d lost a few pounds over the last couple of months, but most of my curves remained. Of course, my chest was enhanced with a padded bra, but six months from now, I hoped to have the next best thing with implants. “Thank you. It feels good to dress up.”

He reached out for my hand and pulled me into his embrace. His words came in my ear. “You sure we can’t find a coat closet now?”

My giggle came easily. “Mm. Tempting, but how about you simply anticipate getting me back to the room later?”

He grinned. “There won’t be one moment I’m not thinking about it.”

The wedding ceremony, in a local church, was lovely.

His cousin was beautiful on her special day, and I could tell by the loving looks the bride and groom shared they were very happy together.

Kellan sat beside me holding my hand. I was certain the bride’s brother, Brandon, was one of the groomsmen, but I wasn’t sure which.

My guess was the handsome fellow standing next to the best man.

But as curious as I was, I didn’t ask Kellan.

But that didn’t mean I couldn’t ask Keira later when we were seated at a table with Kellan’s parents and sister. I waited until he’d gone to the men’s room. “Is Brandon the guy speaking with the bride and groom?” I inquired, trying not to be obvious by staring at them.

She glimpsed and nodded. “Yep. That’s him. I won’t tell my brother this, but we’ve seen each other a few times over the years at family things. He’s a good guy. Just made a really lousy forking mistake.”

“Yeah. Guess he did.”
