1. Donna #3

I shivered, my body waking up. “Now’s really not the best time to be flirting,” I replied tightly, inhaling sharply as Olan’s ship let loose a missile.

“Everyone hold onto something,” I bit out, and then grinned.

Adrenaline pumped through my blood, my heart pounding in the best of ways as I gripped the ship’s controls, an eye on the master lever for our own guns.

“It can’t be any worse than Daxer’s driving,” Blitz said with a snort, and then yelped as I twisted the ship suddenly, rolling smoothly out of the path of the missile and flipping us around to face Olan’s ship.

The shitty thing about the Irax was the guns were only on the front end. To take a hunk out of Olan’s ship, we had to get up close and personal.

“Oh, fuck,” Aszher breathed. “I can’t watch.”

“Trust me,” I said, firing both our guns at the weak point on the Hukeir, and grinning as a twisted piece of metal flew off its underside. Bye, bye cannon. And it took a nice dent out of his exterior shielding, too.

Blitz let out a whoop, turquoise light flashing over the console in response to his emotion—I guessed—but we weren’t out of the woods, yet.

The other ship still had five operational cannons, and one pissed off heart eater.

I unleashed another volley of explosives, and while Olan powered up his weapons—the downside to having fancy equipment; it took longer to bring it online than our cheap and cheerful guns—I took another chunk out of his shields, and held my breath as I punched in a command and gripped the joystick controls.

“Aszher?” Daxer asked, his voice a concerned murmur. “Are you alright?”

“I’m gonna be sick,” Aszher replied, his voice choked.

“Almost free,” I promised, comforting him automatically the way I reassured Santa, the hardened ginger moggy who lived with me in my penthouse apartment on the Granur satellite.

He might have been the hardest cat alive, but he turned into a big baby on fireworks night.

“A minute and we’ll be out of here. Does this thing have an FTL drive? ”

Blitz snorted. “Does it look like it has an FTL drive?”

I rolled my eyes. And the Irax deserved better than what he was implying. She was sleek and powerful enough to deserve a fancy ass drive. She was. “Well, this is about to get interesting.”

“More interesting than it already is?” Daxer asked, amusement twisting through his low voice.

“Tell me it doesn’t involve more flying like a madwoman,” Aszher breathed.

I winced. He really wasn’t going to like what I planned.

I caressed the controls with my thumbs, waiting until Olan was ready to fire, ready to take advantage of the long time between strikes.

“Sorry, Aszher,” I said, and executed a perfect barrel roll, gliding out of it and hitting the big blue button to send us at triple speed through space, the best this baby could do without an enhanced drive.

It was enough to get us out of range of Olan’s weapons, and I grinned.

I was damn good. “I’m ready for your praise and gratitude now,” I said, not letting up speed as I turned to glance at my three companions.

Aszher’s face was practically green, but Blitz was grinning like a fool and Daxer looked impressed. It warmed my cold, thief heart.

“That was amazing,” the oldest brother said, his crystals glowing deep violet as he laughed. “I’ve never seen anyone fly like that before.”

I smirked. “You’ve never met anyone like me before.”

“I can’t argue with that, treasure,” he replied, his violet gaze gentle and admiring.

I faced forward again, a pleasant warmth moving through my body.

“I’m pretty sure that absolves my debt, by the way,” I said, keeping us on a steady path away from Olan’s ship.

This far out of range, he couldn’t hope to catch up, even if he followed us for light years.

“I’m not giving you seven thousand credits after this. ”

Blitz snorted. “I thought you were paying us in kind…”

I smirked. “I think you’re the ones who should be paying me after I just saved your arses.”

I expected Blitz to reply with something sarcastic and flirty, but it was Daxer who very seriously said, “You’re right. We should be paying you for that spectacular rescue.”

I bit the inside of my lip. “Go on then, tell me how you’re going to repay me for saving you.”

Daxer laughed, a low, rolling sound that made my heart thud in my chest and my clit throb. “I’d rather just show you.”

“Put the ship on auto, little thief,” Blitz said, getting out of his seat.

My breathing came faster, my pussy clenching, and I flipped the switch to put the ship on autopilot as I turned to face them. Aszher didn’t look sick anymore; his eyes were dark gold with desire and fixed on me, tracking my every move.

“Tell me this isn’t gonna get me on the Di Vaur hit list,” I joked, trying to hide how turned on I was.

“Maybe.” Blitz shrugged a shoulder, light reflecting off his turquoise gems. “But I can promise it’ll be worth it.”

I’d never been good at resisting trouble.

I grinned and crooked a finger.
