Chapter 38
CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT
MASSIO
After spending the night listening to Veronica pull Thea apart, I was in no mood to take Ford up on his offer of a cigar in his office.
Instead, I pushed back in my chair, feigning a migraine, then waited in the foyer for Thea to leave the dining room, knowing damn well she’d use the excuse of homework as a reason to leave sooner than acceptable.
She doesn’t even get as far as ordering dessert before she’s out the door and heading my way.
I step out of the shadows, and her hand flies to her chest. “Sorry, baby.” I smile and place a chaste kiss on her sweet lips.
Her hands wrap around my neck, but I untangle them and entwine our fingers, then lead her away from the staircase to the opposite wing of the house—the one her parents sleep in.
