Chapter 55
THOREN
Chaos detonates around me. Smoke, shouting, gunfire echoing off marble walls. Roman drags me down behind a pillar as bullets cut the air.
“Eryx and Stassi are down,” Caine snaps in my ear, voice sharper than I’ve ever heard. “South corridor. They’ve been grabbed.”
My heart stutters. Then it hardens. I shove up from cover, eyes locking with Roman’s.
He doesn’t have to say it—we both know. We move.
Roman signals left, sweeping two guards clean with precise shots.
I crash through the right flank, fists and steel, rage in every strike.
Eryx might hate me, but he’s blood in this fight, and Stassi—I won’t let them take her.
“Caine, give me a route!” I snarl.
“South corridor, second junction. Four men dragging them toward a back room.” His keys clatter in the background as he hacks. “You’ve got two minutes before reinforcements converge.”
Roman and I sprint, cutting through the smoke, past the scattered guests and toppled tables.
My lungs burn but I don’t stop. Because somewhere ahead, Stassi’s life is seconds from being locked in Sebastian’s hands forever.
I’ve been gone too long. I won’t lose her again. I’d give my life for my sister. Always.
