Mia's POV

The nausea came in quiet waves at first.

A sour taste at dawn. She experienced a sudden dizziness when she bent to scrub the floors.

She ignored it.

But when her knees buckled a third time and a healer was summoned without her asking, Mia felt the first spark of dread.

The healer, a silver-haired woman whose sharp eyes missed nothing. She pressed cool fingers against Mia's wrist and closed her eyes, listening to the steady rhythm beneath the skin.

A long silence.

Then a whisper that changed everything.

"You are with child, Luna."

Mia's breath caught.

The word Luna felt like a brand.

"No," she said quickly, shaking her head. "That's impossible. He.............he doesn't even............"

The healer's eyes softened, but her voice was firm.

"There is no mistake. And..."

She paused, tilting her head as if hearing something deeper.

"There are two heartbeats."

The world tilted.

Two.

Twins.

Mia's hands flew to her stomach. Nothing showed yet, but her wolf stirred beneath her skin, humming with fierce, protective energy.

Daniel's children.

A thousand thoughts clawed through her mind, fear, disbelief, a flash of wild joy she crushed down before it could bloom.

Daniel had rejected her. Called her a servant.

What would he do when he learned she carried not one, but two of his heirs?

The healer bowed, lowering her voice to a warning.

"Be careful, Luna. The Alpha may protect you, but others... will see this as weakness. Power is dangerous in the womb."

Daniel's POV

Daniel sensed the change before anyone spoke.

The moment Mia entered the training yard that evening, the scent hit him. It was warm, subtle, but unmistakable.

Life.

His wolf went still, then snarled in raw, primal triumph.

His chest tightened, fury and fear battling inside him.

How dare fate twist the knife further?

He had marked her, yes, but he had sworn never to bind her with children.

And yet... twins.

His instincts screamed the truth even before confirmation.

When the healer requested a private audience, his suspicions became certainty.

"She carries your blood," the healer said quietly. "Two heartbeats. Strong."

The room seemed to shrink.

His claws slid free, digging into the wooden table until splinters cracked beneath his grip.

Twins.

Lycan blood.

Heirs.

The council would pounce like vultures. Rival Alphas would see opportunity.

And worst of all, Mia would become the most hunted prize in every territory.

His wolf howled for action.

Daniel dismissed the healer with a curt nod, but inside his chest, the beast raged.

-----------------------------

Night felt heavy and cold when he finally found her in the moonlit garden.

Mia stood among the silver-leafed trees, one hand unconsciously resting on her stomach.

"Twins." His golden eyes burned. "My heirs."

"They are mine," Mia said, surprising even herself with the steel in her voice. "Whether you claim them or not."

The words hit him like a strike.

He crossed the distance in three strides, his presence a storm.

"Do you understand what this means?"

His voice sharpened. "Every rival pack will want you dead before these children take their first breath."

"Then let them try," she shot back.

Her wolf surged forward, lending her courage. "I won't hide, and I won't let you use them as an excuse to cage me."

Daniel's jaw tightened.

He had dragged her into his pack as a slave.

Now she stood before him as a woman carrying his legacy, meeting his dominance with her own.

His wolf purred in reluctant admiration.

"You think you can protect them without me?" he asked, stepping closer until his breath brushed her skin.

Mia refused to back down.

"I can. And I will. But I won't be your prisoner. If you want to keep them safe, you protect us because you choose to, not because you own me."

For a heartbeat, the world held still.

Daniel's claws retracted slowly, the storm in his eyes shifting to something darker, deeper.

"Little wolf," he said finally, voice rough with emotion he refused to name, "you have no idea how dangerous this will be."

"Try me...," Mia whispered, her hand unconsciously tightening over her belly. "If you dare."

-------------------------------

The night wind carried the scent of new life. It was sweet, fragile, and unyielding.

Daniel stared at her, torn between claiming her and setting her free, between the savage need to guard his unborn children and the terror of loving the woman who carried them.

Twins.

His legacy.

His mate.

And the war for all three had only just begun.
