Chapter 30 In My Arms

IN MY ARMS

Saylor had nothing to hide and didn’t care if Rowan went through her phone.

But more importantly, they’d said they were going to communicate more. No secrets.

Even of the embarrassing kind.

And it humiliated her that her sister said Saylor was only using Rowan to better herself in life.

Yeah, that part she didn’t share with her boyfriend. No reason to rile him with something that was utterly ridiculous and typical of her sister’s tantrums.

“Are you having fun?”

She turned her head to see Aileen Carlisle sit in Rowan’s seat. Her boyfriend had gone to the bar five minutes ago and she was positive he was chatting with family since that was all that was here.

“I am. I have to admit, it’s a lot to take in.”

“But she’s handling it like a champ,” Talia said, her hand on her lower back. She was happy to be sitting with Nelson, Talia and Jace, and Elias’s fiancée, Phoebe.

West, Braylon and Laken and their significant others were at a table next to them. Close enough to chat but not be on top of each other squeezed in.

“My husband won’t leave my side, but having Saylor close by, he felt like he could get up and go mingle some,” Talia said. “So, thanks. It relieved his mind that you’ve worked in a maternity ward.”

“I’ve touched pretty much every department at one point or another,” she said. “Are you getting excited?”

“I am,” Aileen said. “I was sad that Talia moved out months ago. I’ll admit the house is empty and lonely.”

“Mom,” Talia said. “I come back to work. You made me do it.”

She hadn’t heard that. “What?”

“I told Talia that she could continue to use the basement apartment as her office so that she could get out of the house. She’s been coming back a few times a week.”

“That’s kind of sweet.”

“I don’t have a lot of room for an office at Jace’s just now and it’s working out.”

“It will stop soon,” Aileen said. “I know. Then I’ll have to figure things out.”

“Mom,” Talia said, rolling her eyes. “Only while I’m taking time off of work and you’ll be at the house nonstop.

” Talia turned to her. “My mother will watch Stella for us. Jace is only at the firehouse two days a week and one day is normally a weekend. He works with his father doing construction on his days off too, but will cut back. He’ll have Stella on days off.

When I’m working, I’ll be going back to my mother’s and she’ll be watching the baby while I’m downstairs if Jace is at work. ”

“Sounds like it’s perfect for everyone,” Saylor said.

“It is,” Aileen said. “While Talia is on maternity leave, I’m going to fly back here for a month to spend time with Laken. She has a nanny already set up for Jamie’s daughter, Penelope, but I’m going to want to see my grandson. Both of them.”

“The way your family is marrying and growing, you’ll be flying all over the place like Rowan does for family gatherings.”

Aileen patted her hand. “I know Rowan hates doing that, but he decided to move so far away. I understand he needed it.”

Talia laughed. “Rowan hated the noise more than anyone but never let on until years later.”

“Really?” she asked. “He always has people around him.”

“That’s different,” Aileen said. “Those are friends that share his interests. All my children are unique and they need the space more than others.”

“I understand that. My sister and I don’t get along. It’s horrible, but I don’t like her and I’m positive she feels the same.”

“I’m sure you still love her though deep down,” Aileen said. “Because she is your sister.”

Saylor forced a smile onto her face. She didn’t think she did, but wouldn’t argue with Rowan’s mother.

“Mom,” Rowan said, moving out. “You better not be starting trouble.”

“I wouldn’t think of it,” Aileen said.

“Your mother and I are just chatting.”

“My mother hardly ever just chats, right, Talia?”

“Unfortunately, Rowan is right, but in this case, she is,” Talia said.

“I know it’s getting late,” Aileen said. “You will probably leave soon. We are all on for breakfast before your flight in the morning, right?”

“We’ll be here,” he said.

Aileen stood up and left. Tomorrow Saylor and Rowan would be taking a helicopter ride from here to JFK to fly home. She’d never been in a helicopter before, but Rowan’s family sure traveled in style.

“The music just changed. Can I get one more slow dance?” she asked.

He held his hand out and put his beer down. “Anything to get you in my arms.”

“Don’t be so gross,” Talia said.

“You’re just jealous because you can’t fit in your husband’s arms.”

“You’re right, I am,” Talia said, laughing.

“She fits just fine,” Jace said, moving over and sitting next to his wife. It was like Jace had a sixth sense that Talia would be left alone at the table. Phoebe was off with Elias somewhere.

The minute Saylor was in Rowan’s arms, she said, “You’re struggling to see Talia pregnant, aren’t you?”

“Yep. I think to myself, oh my God, she does the things you and I do in bed.”

He shivered in her arms. “Shhhhh, don’t say that too loudly.”

“I know. It’s crazy to be that way.”

“That’s right, because if you’re thinking it, then other people are thinking it about me.”

She’d never had that worry before. Nor did she think about the things she did that her sister might be doing.

Yeah, no. Her sex life was too tame for her sister.

Rowan’s arms were around her waist, his hands almost on her ass, just resting.

She was looking up into his eyes, the blue of them searching her face.

“Everyone is only thinking of how hot we look together.”

“I only care what you think,” she whispered. “Do you think I’m hot?”

He squinted. “If I had my way, we wouldn’t have made it to the wedding on time and you would have been a wrinkled mess when we walked in the door. How is that?”

“That about sums up how I’m feeling.” He leaned down to give her a kiss. “When can we sneak out of here? We don’t have a ride.”

“The limos are gathering now. That is what I was talking to West about. Talia and Laken are beat and want to head back. We can hop in with them.”

“Good,” she said, wiggling her eyebrows.

When the music ended, they made their way back to the table, got her purse and walked to the front of West’s house. The wedding was in the backyard under an enormous tent with heaters. It was beautiful out for early April, but still brisk enough to need the heaters.

The minute they were in their hotel room, Rowan spun her in his arms, her back to his chest, his hands covering her breasts.

“Do you even have a bra on?” he asked.

“Yes,” she said. “It’s strapless.”

“Damn. I was thinking all you had was some tape on your nipples.”

Sometimes he said the funniest things, but she didn’t want to laugh right now. She wanted to get naked with the man she loved.

“Sorry to disappoint you,” she said.

“I’m never disappointed.” His mouth was on her neck, his hands fisting the material and slowly pulling it up her legs, catching on her pod, but he quickly maneuvered it around.

Once her dress was bunched around her waist, his hand slid into the front of her silk panties, sliding down between her wet heat.

She closed her eyes and dropped her head back, then jerked them open when he thrust a finger inside of her.

“Ohhh,” she said, spreading her legs for him. “Not wasting any time, are you?”

“Why, when you’re slick for me?”

Another finger went in with the first, he curled them and was tapping to some rhythm inside of her. “What are you doing?”

“Don’t you like it?”

“I love it,” she said, another moan escaping.

“Then don’t worry what it is.”

She was pressing her ass into his crotch. His dick was hard. “I can’t touch you in this position.”

“You’ll get your chance when I’m ready to give it to you.”

Her eyes opened wider. He’d never been like this before.

Most times they were playful, or loving. This was almost... controlling.

And she liked it.

More than she thought she ever would.

“How are you going to give it to me?” she asked. She could play this game.

He bit the skin at her collarbone. “I haven’t decided yet.” He was moving his fingers in and out at a steady pace.

She was going to come soon. Maybe not just from his fingers, but his words.

She wanted to ask him a question, but it vanished from her mind.

It was too hard to concentrate when he was making her body sing and sway.

He jammed his hand up hard, found that spot again like before, curled his fingers, wiggled them around and she came before she knew it was going to happen.

She was screeching loud enough that she worried the rooms next to her would hear, forcing her to bite down on her lip.

Her legs were actually shaking with the need to sit down and gather herself, but he kept it up.

“Tell me when,” he said.

“No,” she said. “You have the power. Make sure you use it well.”

“Fuck,” he said. “Seriously?”

“Don’t make me take it back.”

His hand was still moving, not as hard, more like bringing her to the brink again.

Worked for her.

When his thumb lightly pressed on her inflamed bud and rotated around, she thought smoke was going to come from her panties.

“You’re almost ready for more,” he whispered against her cheek.

She wanted to argue she was well past almost and circling around to give her fucking more now!

But she held back because it was sexier letting him keep her guessing.

His hand popped out of her panties and she thought for sure he’d lower the zipper on her dress.

Nope. He moved her the few feet toward the bed and pushed her face down on it, her ass in the air, her silk panties dropping.

Not that he lowered them, but ripped the material on one side and down they went.

She turned to look over her shoulder to see his pants undone and a condom sliding over his cock fast.

He was fully dressed and only freed himself, then found her wetness and slid in fast.

“Oh God,” she said. “That’s it.”

One hand slid around to her stomach, then lifted her up so he could get deeper.

He was ramming into her and she could barely stop her body from slipping around on the comforter.

His hand inched down, found her swollen bud again and held his finger in place on it. “Grind,” he ordered.

She wasn’t sure how she was going to do that with him fucking her from behind, but she managed it.

Hell, each thrust of his hips into her had her rubbing against his hand. She realized she didn’t have to do much more than take everything he was dishing out.

“I’m going to come again,” she said, her voice sounding hoarse. As if she’d been shouting for days. But this had more to do with the arousal being so high she was struggling to form the words.

Her body tensed, her legs all but gave out, her lady parts twitched and pulsed and Rowan was the one making more noise than her as he came, then collapsed on her back.

She let out a grunt when the air was knocked out of her.

“Are you okay?” he asked. “I hear buzzing.”

“My body is shaking,” she said. “So not sure if my sugar is low or it’s the aftermath of what we just did.”

He jumped up fast and grabbed her purse, then pulled her phone out. “Shit. You’re low. I’m sorry. Why didn’t you say anything?”

“What is it?” she asked. She knew she wasn’t that low. She could tell most times.

“It’s 92.”

“Rowan. That’s not low. That is normal for the average person. I’m fine, but I’ll take something anyway after that workout.” She held her hand out for her phone to see the trend. She had the alerts set to let her know if she hit 100, but that didn’t mean she had to treat.

She saw in the past five minutes though, she’d dropped 9 points.

A package of fruit snacks landed on her chest, so she sat up, lifted her hips and pushed her dress down, then opened the little bag and dumped them in her mouth.

“Feel better now?”

“Damn,” he said. “Talk about superpowers. I caused a low blood sugar.”

She rolled her eyes. “Sure, it was all you.”

He went to the bathroom to take care of the condom, then came out with his pants fastened and sat on the bed. “You’re okay?”

“I’m fine,” she said. “You should know that by now and trust me.”

“I didn’t mean with your diabetes. I meant with us. The last few days were a lot. I know.”

“It was great. I love your family. I really do. They aren’t what I expected and I might have worked myself up for no reason, but they’d been so good talking to me prior.”

“My family can be a pain in the ass, but they always mean well.”

“They do,” she said. “Better than my family.”

“Don’t let your sister touch your life,” he said.

Easier said than done.
