Chapter 8 #2

“Bloomhower?” A deep, demanding voice sounds from the corridor. “Are you in there?”

Oh!

Alexis!

I’m up and wrenching the door open in a flash.

He stands on the threshold looking like hell—pale, eyes bloodshot, a dark bruise along his jawline and shaking with a mixture of feral rage and then absolute relief.

“Pulu!” Alexis drops to his knees in front of me, his hands reaching up to hover over my face, almost as if he’s afraid to touch me. “Thank Gods. Fuck.” His voice cracks. “I thought I’d lost you.”

I sink down opposite him and wind my arms around his neck as he traces a finger over my cheek.

"Are you hurt? What did they do to you? Why didn’t you call me in your mind?”

“I’ve barely any Lumina left,” I whisper. “I couldn’t reach you.”

“Oh, Gods, pulu. I’ve been so afraid. I thought they were going to use you, cut you up and fill you with that shit.”

“Not yet, not yet,” I tell him.

His fingers contract, gripping me tightly. “Not yet? What the fuck does that mean?”

“It’s forty-one days until the next ascension ceremony,” I whisper. “That’s when they’ll use me.”

“Over my dead body, pulu. That I vow.”

Before I can explain further, he drags my mouth to his.

As our lips crash together, the world fades away.

Now it’s just me and my professor.

I tangle my fingers in his hair, not letting him go. Never letting him go. He’s the only thing grounding me to reality right now.

As I crawl into his lap, winding my legs around his waist and feeling his erection pressing pushing up against my core, I remember we have an audience.

Fuck. Forcing myself to look up, I see Willow grabbing a bag and her phone. “Please,” she says, “continue…in one minute.”

I gasp out a laugh, realizing I was so close to fucking Alexis with Willow as an unwilling voyeur. “Sorry, Wills.”

“I just need pj’s and a toothbrush, then I’m gone.” She pulls open a drawer, and I get distracted by Alexis’s hot length. Holy shit, I need that inside me.I’m throbbing with desire, with want, with…

“Byeee!” Willow shuts the door behind her and I instantly tug at Alexis’s waistband.

Everything in me is saying fuck this man RIGHT NOW.

My hunger. Holy fuck, the Lumina inside me is like an army of a million hungry sparkles.

“Fill me.” I'm growling like an animal as I wrench down Alexis's sweats. He lays on his back, dick pointing upwards, hard enough to take an eye out.

“Use me, pulu, fucking use me. I’m yours.”

I don't wait, just straddle his body and impale myself on his iron-like shaft.

Alexis’s eyes roll back in his head. Mine probably do the same. Once I’ve had a moment to get a modicum of equilibrium, I raise my hips then slam myself down.

Again and again.

And again.

More, need more.

Alexis reads my want and flips me onto my back, hoisting my legs over his shoulders. “Trying my best to not come, pulu, but you're making this really hard.”

“Hard, go harder!” I yell.

Fuck, the professor does what I ask, and the angle drives him so far inside me, I’m surprised my eyeballs aren’t being forced out of their sockets.

Two more thrusts then my spine turns to a million crystals and I…implode. All that outward need and pressure zeroes down onto my core.

Heat.

Stars.

Pressure.

For a moment, I think I actually stutter out of existence.

Then in a rush, my atoms return, spiraling out into the universe.

Eventually my mind and body come back to Earth.

I’m tucked under Alexis’s arm, lying on Willow’s carpet, and reveling in the lilac and gold light that has once again flooded my body. “Wow. I think we nearly created a black hole.”

He kisses the top of my head. “You had a core-collapsed supernova?”

“Pretty much.”

“Good. It’s only what you deserve,” Alexis murmurs into my hair. “Cosmo told us you were back. I came straight here.”

“You certainly did.”

My professor’s body suddenly tenses. “Perkele! Contraception, pulu. Paska, that was so irresponsible of me. I’m so sorry.”

“Relax, my love. I got an IUD two years ago to help lighten my periods. We’re covered for another five years.”

He sinks back down. “Gods. Not that I don’t want to fill your belly with babies, but not right now.”

My Lumina squirms in pleasure at his words. Alexis gives a small chuckle.

“What?”

“I may have spelled the penthouse door so Donovan and Max couldn’t follow me.

They’re undoubtedly pissed, but with the curfew going on?

” He shrugs. “It’s not something to take lightly.

The memorandum I received said anyone—other than faculty—caught outside would be taken to the Conclave HQ for questioning. ”

“Shit, then I’m glad you locked them in. But are you safe to be wandering about?”

His lips press onto my forehead then release. “I’m OK if I’m on official academy business. And looking out for my mentee? That’s a school counselor's number one job.”

“Now aren’t you glad you were put in charge of me on day one?”

“Oh, pulu, let’s not kid ourselves. You’re the one in charge of me, my heart. You own us all.”

???

I don’t mean to fall asleep, but Alexis passed out so heavily, that his weight and warmth just took me into a blissful slumber.

It’s dark when I wake. Alexis is sitting up and checking his cell.

“Is everything alright?” I ask, running my hand across his tense shoulders.

He turns to face me. I see immediately that everything is not alright. “I’m so sorry, pulu. I didn’t mean to sleep. There’s no excuse.”

My heartrate picks up. “Why? What’s happening now? Tell me?”

Alexis brushes my cheek with his thumb. “There’s no easy way to tell you this. Ludo is missing. I meant to find you here, then make a plan. Olla paska j?ykk?n?!” He gets to his feet and starts redressing. “Max has tracked his scent to the building site.”

“Wait, wait. Slow down…”

Ludo is missing? What?

Shit…I…I

I have Lumina again.

—Ludo?—

Alexis looks at me quizzically, so I add him into the telepathic link.

—Ludo? Where are you? I’m with Alexis in Defectivum—

The silence in my head is devastating.

“He’s not replying.”

Alexis clutches my hand. “Keep going, he could be sleeping.”

—LUDO!—

I hold my breath, then a weak thought reaches me.

—Nymph—

—Lu! I’m here!—

—Nymph—

—Ludo? Can you hear me?—

I push and push, but Ludo’s call to me flickers out.

He sounded wrong. Exhausted.

Hurt.

“You said the building site. Deep underneath there is where the Conclave labs are.”

Alexis passes me a sweatshirt. “I know. Drakeward explained. Now, keep trying to contact him. We’ll go down into the tunnels. That’s our minotaur’s natural habitat, maybe it will amplify his voice.”

His eyes widen. “And it’s the perfect place to shift if necessary.”
