9. The Blue Whale
The Blue Whale
Ahorned one.
We have not met before.
But my mother. She met one.
Two legs. Black eyes.
Moves like a predator. But is gentle.
Mother was right. He is considerate. His power is restrained. He is not polluting my home with noise.
And there is no pain.
Tales of these creatures pass through the waters. But time… Time is different under the surface. I did not know if I would ever see one.
The horned one releases his hold on me.
I continue, a low hum leaving me in appreciation for the encounter.
This is a story I will share.
But the horned one does not swim away.
He pulls even with me. His black gaze finds mine. Then he moves ahead. In front of me.
I cannot place his scent. And I do not know what he is doing.
But then the horned one bites his wrist.
And a cloud of red floats before me.
I open my mouth.
And as the water flows into my mouth, I feel it.
The magic.
Pleased happiness leaves me as a song.
The horned one dips his head, then he rises to the surface. And disappears.
Energy flutters through my body.
Strength fills me.
And joy powers me.
I build my speed.
I aim myself upward.
And then, I break the surface of the ocean.
Cool air caresses my body.
And I fly.
Before I slam back into the sea.
