King Tosa
Iswallow the unimpressive blood.
This human is hardly worthy of speaking his name to me, but if I consume every drop, I will have enough energy to defend myself.
Vameer is hardly my only enemy.
I swallow more. And more.
The body in my hands is getting lighter.
My gravito starts to wake up.
And when the body has no more blood to give, I drop it to the floor.
Four of my guards stand flanking the door.
They lower their heads.
“I am pleased to see faces I know. Stand.”
They are already standing, but they lift their heads.
“It is good to see you again, King Tosa.” My head guard speaks.
I dust off my loose clothing as I look at theirs. “I need modern clothes. An update. And a stronger feeding.”
The guards wait as I pass between them, then they follow me out into the hall.
My joints feel a little tight. And I’m hungry. But I don’t feel bad.
The stone feels colder against my feet than I remember.
Then my mate screeches from inside her cell.
I pause.
Maybe taking her out for a feeding would be worth it.
I’ll never know if she was always meant for evil. Or if my darkness corrupted her light past redemption. But she is still my mate, so her blood is still beneficial to me.
Her door shakes.
I exhale and start walking again.
At least locked up, she can’t get herself, and therefore me, killed.
“What year is it?”
My guard replies, but I cannot recall anything of note predicted for this year.
“Do we know what woke him? Where he was?”
“No speculation on where he’s been hiding.”
I stop walking. “But you know what woke him.”
“The specifics of that are unknown. But there is a particular detail…”
I turn to face my guards. “What is the detail?”
“Vameer found his mate.”
