11. Chapter 11

Iknewexactlywhat Bane and Demi were doing before I even approached the room. It”s the reason Jax sent me. He figured if she was recovered enough to be trying to fuck Bane, then she was awake enough to tell us what had happened to her. I feel bad for her; she went through a traumatic experience and now he wants to force her to relive it. I get it though. We need answers, and Jax needs to know exactly what happened so he can protect our territory.

Bane doesn”t look happy as he shoves past me. His eyes are fully red, and I catch sight of the bulge in his pants. Just how close was he to fucking her? She”s all I”ve been thinking about since I first saw her in the club. I”ve come twice with images of her inmy mind, once in the back room in the club and again in the shower, knowing she was naked just down the hall.

I should be jealous of Bane for getting close enough to her to leave her lips bruised, to get to taste her, but there isn”t a single twinge of it. It wouldn”t be the first time Bane and I have shared a woman, but things would be different with Demi.

I spot the flash of silver in her hand as she passes me at the door, but I don’t see exactly what it is. I can”t resist inhaling her scent again. Her arousal is at the forefront, and my cock twitches, thinking about how wet she is. Every single one of us will be able to smell it.

I follow her down the hall. As we reach the main room, I catch Jax”s nostrils flare before his face is impassive again, like her scent doesn”t affect him.

”You wanted to talk?” Demi”s sweet as honey voice slips between her lips. She”s standing close to Bane, but she isn”t touching him this time.

”Please sit, Demetria.” Jax signals to one of the bar stools at the breakfast bar.

She”s unsure at first. Demi looks to the seat before looking up at Bane. He gives her a small nod, and she makes her way over to it before sitting down, placing a silver stake on the table in front of her. So, that’s what she had in her hand. Jax moves to the other side of the breakfast bar, resting his hands on the marble top.

”I”m sorry for what you went through, and for the loss of your friend.” He keeps his voice calm, not wanting to cause her any alarm. ”But I need to know what happened, and why those wolves were in our territory.”

Demi”s breath huffs out. I was right. She doesn”t want to relive what she went through. I see the tension in her shoulders as she lets out a sigh.

”I”ll tell you. But first I have questions for you.” She’s demanding, I like it.

”Of course. We will answer what we can.” He looks from me to Bane, and we both nod.

”First, how the hell did I get here?”

”I found you.” I find my voice, and her head whips round to me. ”I went on a break, and when I came back to the bar, I couldn”t see you. I found where you”d been sitting, you”d left your jackets. Then I smelled fear, so I went looking for you and found you outside.”

”I don”t understand. Why were you even looking for me to start with?”

”Because...” I try to find the words I want, one that won”t scare her.

”He”s drawn to you.” Jax cuts in. ”The same way Bane is. You’re like a honey trap to them.” I throw a glare at him. He doesn”t mention that he is also drawn to her, but I can see it in the way he watches Demi. He can try to deny it all he wants. She might not notice it, but I do and I’m pretty sure Bane does too.

”Then what?”

”As I said, I found you outside.” I remember the scent of her blood, the fact it was drawing me in, and I almost drained her dry. ”The wolves that attacked you were already gone. We brought you upstairs.”

”My wounds, though, shouldn”t I be dead?” Her hand raises and touches the pink mark on her neck. It looks much better, but she will still need more blood before it fully heals, otherwise, it will take weeks and leave a scar. With a vampire”s blood, it will heal like it never even happened.

”But you aren’t.” There”s Jax again, so blunt.

”The wolf, he told me to heal.” Her voice shakes as she talks. ”But my throat, they almost ripped it out. I should be dead. He thought someone would find me and heal me.” I can hear the increased tempo of her heart, and I go to take a step forward, but Bane beats me to it. He rests a hand on her shoulder.

As soon as his skin comes into contact with her, she seems to relax a little. I wish more than anything that it was my touch giving her solace from the nightmare she must have endured at the hands of the wolves. Just the thought of it has my fists clenching and my fangs wanting to burst free so I can rip their throats out.

”We healed you, Demetria. We gave you our blood.” Jax sounds so matter of fact, and I want to punch him in the face.

The sound of a chair screeching back echoes through the apartment as Demi pushes back on her chair. Dislodging Bane”s hand from her shoulder.

”You fucking did what?” She shouts at him, not happy with his response.

”It was the only way to save you. You would have bled out before we could have got you human help. I bathed your wounds with my blood until you were strong enough to drink from us. We all fed you, but Diego gave the most.”

The thoughts of her lips wrapped around my wrist as she drank my blood has my cock jumping. I”m not ashamed to admit that I was hard the entire time she drank from me. The thought of her drinking from me as I sank into her wet heat almost had me coming in my pants.

”You had no right! You should have left me to die. I don”t want to be like you.” Her eyes move to mine and she glares at me. ”You... you fucking bastard!” She stalks towards me, her finger pointing into my chest as she attempts to push me back, but I stand my ground.

”It was the only way, Demi. Jax is right. Without our blood, you would have died.”

”I can”t believe you... any of you.” She drops her finger from my chest and spins around, glaring at Bane and Jax as she does. ”You took my choice away, just like those wolves.” Her glare falls on Bane. ”And you… you said you”d protect me. Being one of you is going to kill me.”

”Demetria!” Jax barks. ”You will not become one of us.” He makes the comment nonchalantly. ”To be one of us, we must bite you first, release our venom into your bloodstream, and then let you drink from us.” The way he speaks is to the point, but I can see her eyes narrowing as her anger rises.

”I don”t care. You did something to me that I didn”t agree to! I hate you, I hate all of you!” She spins on her heel, grabbing her stake off the table as she passes and takes off down the hallway. When she reaches the room Jax designated as hers, the door slams behind her. I turn back on Jax.

”You couldn”t have been just a little more careful with how you worded it, could you? Instead of dropping her in at the deep end.” I shake my head at him.

”She asked questions, and I answered. Yet still, she hasn”t answered mine.” Jax snaps at me.

”You”re a fucking asshole sometimes, Jackson. You know that?” I only ever call him by his full name when I’m angry with him.

Bane growls in agreement with my statement before stomping off to his room. He slams the door behind him. I can hear him moving across the floor and into the en-suite bathroom before the shower turns on. It”s about time he cleaned up. He”s still wearing the same clothes he had on when he came across me and Demi outside two nights ago.

Frustration builds within me. Demi, for reasons unknown to us, hates vampires and the longer she is here, the more her hatred for our kind is growing. Jax is not the best person to be talking to her, and he”s only making it worse. Stalking away, I leave Jax in the kitchen and head towards Demi”s room.

When I”m outside the door, I spot it”s partly open. With Bane having busted the door open earlier, there”s no way for her to shut it completely. Through the crack, I can see her pacing back and forth, muttering to herself.

”Stupid fucking vampires... coming in here with their hotness, sexy tattoos, and muscles. Nope, they’re vampires, Demi. You still hate them!” Most of her words brush over me, but my ears perk up when I hear my name.

She thinks my tattoos are sexy. She could hardly even see them with the shirt I was wearing in the club. But if she wants to see more, I”ll gladly show her every single one of them. Raising my fist, I knock gently, her pacing comes to a stop as she swivels around to the door.

”Fuck off!” She rasps.

”Demi, please. I just want to talk.” I want to push the door open further, but I resist the urge.

”Just leave me alone! I”ve had enough of you vamps for one day.”

She rushes to the door and slams it in my face; I hear a chair being scraped across the floor and pushed against it. Fuck, I just need to talk to her. To try to calm her racing heart. But I won”t barge in there when she doesn”t want company.

Spotting the chair Bane must have put outside her door, I sink down onto it. I”ll just wait for her to come out. She”s going to want food at some point, right?
