My favorite job of his so far was when he worked with the First Lady, being her body guard for a small press tour through Virginia and Maryland.
She was speaking at hospitals and libraries, promoting her change in school lunch menus, and Elias was right there on TV behind her, sunglasses and ear piece on full display.
He looked so serious in his little suit, I had a hard time believing it was the same man who pouted when I was grumpy in the mornings and didn’t want to have a full conversation at seven o’ clock.
When he had free time, he did try to visit me, to see what I was working on.
He didn’t understand a lot of it, but he grasped the basics, and was more than interested to hear me talk about it.
I had a suspicion though, that he came to visit to make sure the male scientists knew I was off limits.
Elias wasn’t a jealous guy, but he did like to show me off whenever possible, even if the showing off was simply making sure that people knew that he was the one I came home to.
The men didn’t care, but the women were impressed.
“Sometimes I miss the days when you were nervous around me,” he said, wistful.
I let out a little laugh. “Do you miss me asking you every day if you were sure you wanted to be with me? Because I did that for like, two months.”
“No, not that part.” He took a deep breath. “I miss how quick your heart would beat when I touched you.” His arm around me drifted down, his fingers trailing down my waist and hips. “You used to be putty in my hands.”
My heart stuttered in my chest at his touch, at the tone of his voice. “Elias, you still make my heart race.”
Slowly dragging up my belly, Elias’s hand crept under my shirt, and he splayed it flat against my chest, over my heart. “Hmm,” he said, whispering into my ear. “I guess you’re right.”
My own breath was shaky, and we laid without speaking for a few minutes. No matter how much the dynamics of our relationship changed, how confident I became, I couldn’t imagine a future where he didn’t affect me like this.
He gave me a gentle kiss below my ear before letting his hand fall back to my waist. His fingers crept toward the waist band of my sweat pants, and I quickly reached down to pull his hand back to my stomach.
“Not on the plane,” I reprimanded.
“I wasn’t going to do anything,” he said.
“Yes you were,” I giggled.
I could hear the smile in his voice when he spoke. “I’ve got this beautiful woman pressed up against me. She’s so soft and smells so good, and she’s wearing pants that are very easy to get into. What am I supposed to do?”
“Fantasize?” I suggested. “Anything but actually put your hands in my pants.”
“Ah,” he said. “But I’ve already been doing that all morning. Now I have too many ideas.”
“Well, maybe we should have gotten the touching out of the way last night.”
“I was tired,” he said. “It wouldn’t have helped, though. I’d just be thinking about that instead of what I’m imagining right now.”
“What are you imagining right now?” I asked.
“Wow, is Dr. Hayes feeling a bit scandalous?” His arm tightened around me.
I nodded. He liked to whisper dirty things into my ears almost as much as I liked to hear them.
His lips were at my ear again. “You in this chair, right here, fighting for your life to stay quiet. Maybe I have to cover your mouth with my hand because you let a moan slip out. Just you, my hand in between your legs, and my mouth in your ear, talking you through it.”
I shivered. “Okay, I see the appeal.”
“When you were drunk the other day, and you said you like being restrained. . . I haven’t stopped thinking about that, you know.” His hand was mobile again, stopping just shy of my hip. He played with the hem of my shirt between his fingertips.
“You know what I like,” I said.
“I do,” he agreed. “But you never say it out loud like that. You make me guess.”
“I really like watching you figure me out,” I admitted. “And I’m a little shy when it comes to that stuff.”
“You don’t have to be shy with me,” he breathed. “I’d do anything you asked me to.”
“Anything?” I asked.
“Yeah. I worship the ground you walk on, Cassie.” He said it like I should know better. “Is there something you want to try? Toys? Fuzzy pink handcuffs?”
I shook my head. “I don’t think so. I like that it’s just us. I’m more into acoustic performances.”
He chuckled. “Okay, noted. Do you have a favorite performance you’d like to share?”
My face felt hot at the memory, at how completely pressed against Elias I was. How his hands were inches from where they needed to be. “That night we escaped for the second time, when I interrupted the football game.”
“I haven’t topped the second time we had sex?” He asked. “That’s disappointing. I was hurt pretty bad, too. I couldn’t do much.”
“Don’t worry, you’ve topped it,” I reassured him. “It was just that day, that moment, then the way you held me.” I paused, my face completely flushed. I did not enjoy saying these kinds of thoughts aloud. “This is embarrassing.”
“No it’s not. It was fun. And super hot.”
I let out a big breath, feeling a little relieved with my own honesty, proud of myself for being forward for once. “I hate talking about this, by the way.”
“I’m aware,” he said, nodding. “And I hate when you make me talk about my feelings, so I think this makes us even.”
“I guess so.”
He’d grown more open with me, more willing to say that he missed me unprompted, but any talk of our future and he clammed up. After admitting that he felt guilty for dragging me into this lifestyle with him, it made sense, but we couldn’t change anything.
“You’re less of a talker, more of a doer,” he said, fingers moving south again. I didn’t pull his hand back this time. “I know that about you.”
“Elias,” I warned, not sure if I wanted him to stop or not.
“I don’t need to feel you to know how wet you are.” He purred into my ear, the words heating up my whole body. “I know you want me to.”
I did want him to. “What about you?” I asked.
“I’m more concerned with this.” His hand was between my legs now, testing his hypothesis. “I knew it.” His voice was breathy on my neck.
“What if they catch us?”
“They won’t.”
We were lying on our sides, so I hiked one of my legs up, leaning back into Elias, my foot finding a home between his knees as we both shifted to our backs. Half of my body was on top of his, as we didn’t have the room for anything else.
He could access me so much easier with my legs spread like they were, and he got to work, slowly, his fingers just grazing over me. I couldn’t reach back to kiss him from this angle, so I grabbed his free hand and kissed that softly instead. When I let his hand go, it rested on my chin.
I hadn’t worn the easiest underwear to maneuver around, so I lifted my hips up, and he pulled them down. They sat bunched together around my upper thighs and Elias left my pants on.
Two fingers moved up my center, separating me, and I held my breath, not wanting to make a sound.
Now slick with me, his fingers circled slowly, and his tongue darted out, licking and kissing up the side of my neck.
I froze, still not breathing while I listened to the flight attendant push a drink cart past us.
Elias didn’t stop at the sound outside the door, though I knew he heard it, too. He heard everything. My body shuddered as I watched the shape of his hand move around under my sweatpants.
He put his fingers inside me, slowly, feeling how my body flexed around him. I was unbelievably wet, and I offered no resistance to him. Deliberately gentle, his fingers massaged inside of me, his thumb finding a leisurely rhythm on me, too.
“Don’t forget to breathe,” his voice was almost inaudible.
I exhaled gradually, trying not to let the air whoosh out of my lungs.
The feeling of him was beginning to overwhelm me, and my leg faltered, coming down hard on his hand. His own leg hooked around mine, pulling it back open, and he held it there in place. He was hard beneath me, and I imagined what we could do if we didn’t have to be so quiet.
I ground against his hand, needing more than the glacial pace he was intent on giving me, and a little grunt escaped through my lips. Just like his fantasy, his arm that was snaked under my neck reached up and clamped down on my mouth.
“You can’t make noises like that, Cassia,” he said. “Just breathe, slowly, in and out.”
I loved when he called me Cassia.
I squirmed on top of him, getting close, and while he didn’t speed up his fingers, his movements were more purposeful, guiding me swiftly along.
There I was, at his mercy, just how he knew I liked.
I whimpered against his hand, and his grip around my mouth tightened. “Shh,” he scolded, his lips against my ear.
I came as he kissed my neck, my body trembling under his touch. Rather than make too much noise, I chose to stop breathing altogether as Elias held me spasming on top of him. I soared from the feeling of him on me, in me. I was in ecstasy, tingling warmth from my head to my toes.
When he finally released me, I had to lay there, steadying my breath for a minute.
“Atta, girl,” he said, kissing my cheek.
“Was that everything you imagined?” I asked.
“And then some.”
I shimmied out from his arms and sat on his lap. “Make it a normal chair again,” I ordered.
He complied, but he looked at me, questioning. “You’re not leaving me are you?”
I shook my head and kissed him as the chair slowly raised us back up. When he was upright, I slid down him, my knees finding the floor. “I think it’s your turn,” I said.
“I don’t think I can behave as well as you can.”
I smiled. “I believe in you.”
