Stacy led me to her family’s home without an iota of hesitation. I was universally feared, but there wasn’t a hint of tension in her strong frame as she strode up to her front door and rang the doorbell. Something in my chest eased at the sight. She wasn’t afraid to be seen with me, and that mattered more than I expected.
