The Agent

I can’t remember the last time I let loose like this.

In my past life, I never drank enough to get drunk - not in public anyway. I was too worried about getting judgmental looks from my mother or worse: a lecture about acting ladylike and classy.

Tonight, I wasn’t afraid of any judgment or disapproval. I just wanted to have fun.

That word hadn’t even been in my vocabulary until now.

Heat from the alcohol warmed my belly and ran through my veins. For once, my thoughts were silent, replaced by the beat of the hip hop music and the feeling of a firm body on mine.

I didn’t know the man I was dancing with from a can of paint.

He’d approached me not too long after Lexie left me on the dance floor to take a water break.

He let his moves speak for himself as he shimmied up to me.

At first, he kept a reasonable distance between us.

Close enough to dance together, but far enough that we wouldn’t touch.

Gradually, he moved closer and closer. His hands slowly slithered around my waist and pulled my hips against his. I didn’t mind the close proximity. From what I could make out in the dim lighting, he was cute - and his cologne smelled amazing. An earthy scent with a hint of spices.

He didn’t talk much, more focused on dancing than conversation.

He was enjoying the moment just as much as I was.

A dance was all he wanted, and I appreciated him more for that.

It was nice, passing time with an easy goodbye.

There were no obligations. No pressure. No expectations. Just the good vibes flowing between us.

But, like always, my perfect bubble of peace didn’t last long.

An arm wound around my waist, snatching me away from my partner. Wood and amber filled my nose, and my stomach clenched from the memories it bought.

“Get the fuck off of me,” I snapped without looking up at him.

Mateo ignored my plea and lifted me up with one arm.

I kicked the air beneath me, trying to wriggle out from his grasp. “Let me go, asshole!”

“Hey, man,” the man I was dancing with tried to intervene. He held his hand out to grab Mateo’s arm. “The lady said-”

Mateo grabbed his wrist before he could even touch him and twisted it so hard the crack of his bones was heard over the music.

“Fuck,” the man yelped, staring at his wrist as it hung at an unnatural angle. He quickly retreated, holding his wounded hand close to his chest.

“What the hell is wrong with you?’ I yelled at Mateo. “You didn’t have to hurt him!”

“He’s lucky I didn’t kill him,” Mateo muttered, lifting me higher to avoid being hit by my flailing legs.

“Put me down, you psychopath!” I yelled.

The music drowned out my voice. People around us were completely oblivious to my pleas. They continued dancing without a care in the world, barely even glancing in our direction as Mateo effortlessly weaved through the small open spaces in the crowd.

When we finally passed through the entrance doorway, there was no one to scream to. The line to enter had disappeared, and the bouncer at the door likely retired for the night. Still, I yelled at the top of my lungs, hoping maybe the wind would carry my voice.

I wasn’t banking on anybody helping me. I just wanted to annoy him enough to release me.

Mateo didn’t give a damn about how loud I was or how much I writhed in his grasp. He made a beeline for the van and tossed my ass in the loading bay.

“Seriously?” I screamed as he shut the doors on me. “Are we back to this?” I rammed my fists on the doors. “Let me out!”

This van was different from the one he’d kept me in before. A partition separated the loading bay from the seats up front. I guess he learned his lesson after I tried to choke him out last time.

I shuffled to the other side of the bay and rapped my knuckles on the plastic. “Mateo! This isn’t fucking funny!”

He slid the tinted cover over the partition, blocking my view of him.

I scoffed at the audacity. “Oh, you wait until we get out this fucking car! I am going to wail on your head like it’s fucking wack a mole!”

The engine purred and the floor vibrated underneath me. Force yanked me backwards as the tires moved, moving the car at an unnaturally fast speed. I barely caught myself, landing on my forearms. “Bastard,” I mumbled.

Pushing myself up, I leaned against the closest wall and crossed my arms. Quietly, I plotted all the ways I was going to kick his ass when he opened those doors.

How dare he leave me, and then pop up acting like he had the right to drag me around? I wasn’t his fucking play toy.

Heat from my anger replaced the one from the alcohol. It simmered in my veins, boiling my veins. I was going to claw his fucking eyes out. And I was going to enjoy every second of it.

I waited until the tires came to a complete stop to crawl back towards the doors. I stood on my high heels and positioned my arms in the perfect posture for attack.

The metal latches on the other side of the doors clicked as Mateo pulled on them.

I pounced on him the second the doors opened. “You motherfucking asshole,” I screamed, slamming my fist against his head. “You ruin everything! My night! My life! Fuck you!”

Mateo grimaced from annoyance rather than pain. Moving his head to the side to dodge my blows, he roped his arm around my legs and tossed me over his shoulder.

I pounded on his back. “Stop throwing me around like a ragdoll and fight!”

“Is that what you want?” He asked as he carried me. To avoid unwanted eyes, he went through one of the side doors and headed towards the stairwell there. “To fight?”

“Duh! It’s all we ever do! Since having a conversation clearly isn’t in your fucking vocabulary!”

His already tense shoulders tightened up more at my words. His grip on my legs tightened as he jogged up the steps and went down the hall to my apartment. “Fine,” he said, setting me down once we were inside. “You wanna talk? Let’s fucking talk!”

It was too late for that. I didn’t want to hear anything he had to say. I raised my fist again and swung at him.

A hand grabbed my wrist, stopping the punch, and the other wrapped around my neck. He turned us around and shoved me against the door. Pinning me between the door and his body, he leaned down and crashed his lips onto mine.

My brows stitched together as he roughly kissed me. His tongue harshly flicked at my mouth, tearing open my lips and claiming everything inside.

I wriggled in his grasp, unsure whether to push him away or pull him closer. A kiss couldn’t have been farther from what I was expecting - what I wanted - but I wasn’t complaining.

It’s been a while since we’ve been intimate. Since my “death,” I’ve been too wrapped up in my funk to even think about sex. Now, as the heat from the alcohol trickled to my pussy, I almost drooled at the idea.

And while I longed for Mateo’s words, I was alright with settling for his body.

Relaxing, I returned his heated kisses. My lips and tongue moved eagerly against his, driven with a mix of anger and lust. I’ve kept my emotions pent up in a box over the last few weeks, too afraid to be vulnerable.

I hadn’t realized all the scratches and dents they’ve made on the wood, desperate to escape.

Sex wasn’t going to get rid of them for good, but it’d at least let them run wild for a little while.

Seeing I wasn’t going to cause any more ruckus, Mateo released my wrist and neck. His hands slithered down my body to my legs. He gripped the fabric of my dress and tugged it up around my waist. He slid his palms back down my thighs, this time wrapped his fingers around them.

I hooked my legs around his waist as he lifted me off of my feet.

He shoved his hips forward, pressing his dick against my entrance.

Moaning into his mouth, I grinded against him to soothe the ache the pressure summoned.

One hand gripped my hip, ceasing my movements and holding me still, while the other slipped over my leg to my inner thigh. “Let’s make a few things clear,” he whispered, his voice dripping with a familiar darkness that used to scare me. Now it just commanded more waves between my legs.

He pushed my underwear aside and skimmed his fingertips over my pussy.

I wiggled from the touch, soft and teasing. “Mateo,” I whined when his other hand tightened around my hip, stopping me from getting the friction I needed.

“Nah, you wanted to talk,” he replied. He swirled his thumb over my clit, his touch damn near lighter than a feather. “So, that’s what we’re going to do.”

My head fell backwards as he shoved a finger inside of me.

He eased it in and out of me as he spoke next, working in perfect rhythm with his thumb that was still circling my clit.

“First: I never want to see another man’s hands on you again.

If I do, I am going to chop each and every one of his fingers off.

Then I’m going to hang them on your balcony like wind chimes. ”

His words would’ve frightened me if I was paying attention. I was too focused on his fingers working my pussy and the mere sound of his deep, sultry voice in my ears to give a damn what he was talking about.

When I didn’t respond, he pulled his fingers out of me and gripped my face up with his hands, still wet with my juices. “Do you fucking understand me?” He asked.

I almost smiled at his livid gaze. “No,” I replied, shaking my head. “I can touch any man I want, and any man can-” I gasped as he stuck his fingers inside me again - two this time.

“Don’t fucking play with me, Simone. I am a man with very little to lose.”

I bit my lip as I bucked against his fingers, skipping down the yellow brick road of pleasure. “Is that supposed to scare me?” I leaned forward and kissed his lips. The only thing his petty little threats were doing was turning me on.

Growling in frustration, he took his fingers out of me. He wrapped his hand around my neck and pressed my head back against the wall. “Do you want to see me kill a man in cold blood for you? I’ve done it once and I’ll damn sure do it again.”

“Why?” I asked, bucking my hips against his, trying to fill the empty void his fingers left behind. “The fuck do you care if another man touches me?”

His fingers tightened around my neck. “Ask me that one more fucking time.”

This time I did smile. If this was the game I needed to play, then so be it. I was going to get the truth out of him one way or another. Leaning forward as best I could with his hand on my throat, I brushed my nose against his. “Why do you-”

I couldn’t even finish my sentence before his lips were on mine again, swallowing the rest of my words.

The erotic invasion of his tongue and heat from his mouth nearly made me forget what we were supposedly talking about. I didn’t want much conversation anymore. I just wanted him to fuck me until I couldn’t see straight.

I gasped as Mateo undid his pants and shoved himself into me. The force from his thrust pushed me against the wall, banging my back against the surface with every single one.

His hand cupped the bottom of my face, and he pushed my head up, arching my neck. He latched his mouth onto the exposed skin, ambushing it with a mix of harsh bites and rough sucks.

I dug my nails into the back of his neck, moaning from the swirl of pain and pleasure. “Shit, Mateo,” I groaned as the warmth in my pelvis grew hotter and hotter.

His tongue ran up my throat, raising his mouth to my ear. “Make no mistake,” he whispered, venom dripping off his voice like honey. “You are mine.”

Hearing those words after hanging in this weird limbo nearly pushed me over the edge. I hadn’t realized how much I needed to hear them. Especially now when I was cast out from the only life I’d ever known.

Pulling his mouth away from my ear, he tightened his grip on my jaw and looked down on me. “Say it.”

“I…I’m…” God, it was hard to speak when he was ramming into me like this.

Pinned against this door, there was no room to wiggle away or catch a tiny break between thrusts.

His dick was hitting all the right spots inside of me, and his lower abdomen rubbed against my clit with every move.

Euphoria had me by the neck, and it wouldn’t be long before it consumed me.

“Say it,” he commanded again, pushing himself deeper inside of me.

“I’m… I’m…Fuck, Mateo, I’m yours!” I couldn’t hold myself back as the words slipped from my lips. I came all over his dick, drenching his skin in my essence.

He didn’t stop as my body glitched against him. He fucked me through my orgasm, easing out every single drop.

As my body stilled, he kissed me softly, sealing our commitment.

I kissed him back as best as I could. Between the alcohol, the dancing, and the sex, my body was worn out.

Mateo noticed the weariness in my kisses and pulled me away from the door. “Come on,” he muttered. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

He carried me into the bathroom and set me down on the toilet. He ran warm water over a wash cloth and washed the excess moisture off my inner thighs.

I expected him to stop there, but he rummaged through the cabinets for a pack of makeup remover wipes. Gently, he ran the wet cloths over my face, rubbing off every inch of product.

Once I was clean, he carried me back to my room. There, he traded my dress for one of his tee shirts, enveloping me in his woody scent.

I could barely keep my eyes open by the time he laid me in bed. The mattress dipped from his weight as he lay beside me. I wiggled towards him, closing the small distance between us, and rested my head on his chest. His heartbeat thudded in my ears, yanking my eyes down lower.

“Simone,” he called before I could shut them completely.

“Hm?” I hummed, already on the cusps of unconsciousness.

“Don’t ever question how I feel for you again.”
