Chapter 33

THIRTY-THREE

MAVEN

I’ve heard the phrase fucked six ways to Sunday before, but I’d never actually experienced such a thing.

I can honestly say, as I straddle his lap, his hands cupping my breasts as I ride his cock, that has now changed.

After I made him come with my mouth, he proceeded to flip me over and fuck me so hard that I screamed his name over and over.

But he wasn’t done.

He went out, grabbed a bottle of water, and came straight back, only to get me worked up again and demand that I ride his fucking cock.

Each and every time he touches me, it feels possessive, in the best way possible.

Turning my heart over and confusing me all at the same time.

It’s possibly the most sex I’ve ever had in a day, and possibly the best sex I’ve ever had in my life.

How we can go this many times is beyond me, but I’m not complaining.

He sits up as I feel the orgasm building, and his mouth finds mine. He kisses me as I come, not letting me slow the pace of my hips rocking back and forth.

“That’s it, Dynamite.” His phone rings for the umpteenth time as he spills inside me. He flops onto his back, pulling me down with him, and I fall onto his chest.

“Your phone is really fucking annoying,” I grumble.

“Ignore it,” he says, then starts stroking my back as I lie there listening to his heartbeat. “Is Carrie the only person you ever cared for?” he asks.

“Yes. She’s all I’ve ever had. Our adoptive parents, if you could even call them that, were useless,” I tell him.

“I haven’t seen or spoken to them since they kicked me out when I turned eighteen.

For all I know, they could be dead.” Carrie and I don’t talk about them because they were never really family.

We always knew the reason they had us was for the money.

We aren’t dumb. “What about your family?”

“My father worked a lot. My mother always spoke so highly of him until the day she died. She was extremely happy I took after him in my career.”

“So you did it for your mother, and not for you?” I ask.

“Maybe. I guess so.”

“Sounds like it. If you hadn’t become a detective, what would you be doing for work?”

“I haven’t really thought about it.” He shrugs, his eyes locking on mine. “Have you always wanted to do what you do?” The corners of his mouth pull up in a smirk.

“No. When I joined the military, I realized I was really good at killing.” I climb off of him and slip out of bed. I feel his gaze on me as I walk toward the massive white and gold bathroom. “I do love my job,” I throw over my shoulder as I turn on the shower.

He ends up joining me, and we talk about our time at school.

He hardly missed any days of school, and I was always skipping every chance I could get.

We are such different people, yet I can see us working out, which is very weird for me to think.

The last thing I should be thinking about is what a future with this man looks like.

Yes, our sex life is amazing, but that doesn’t mean we’re compatible in every other way.

My life is what one would call a shit show, where his is more controlled.

We go back to bed, and I somehow end up wrapped in his arms as a soft snore echoes through my ears.

I lie there for what feels like eternity before I drift off.

A knock at the door pulls me from sleep.

When I turn to find Boston, he’s nowhere to be seen.

With a yawn, I get up, go to my bag, and throw on some clothes before I head toward the insistent knocking coming from the front door.

When I pull it open, I find Victor standing there. He looks down at me with a scowl.

“Well, can’t say I expected to see you this early,” I say, smiling up at him. I glance over my shoulder to see if maybe Boston is in the dining room, but I still see no sign of him.

“Where is your husband?” he asks in that stupid deep voice of his.

“No idea. But if you find him, can you let me know?” He raises a brow at me. “Why are you here?”

“The hunt,” he says, and I stare up at him. Boston hasn’t told me about the hunt yet, but I’d heard bits and pieces about it at the Forsaken party we went to.

“That’s not tonight,” I reply, bluffing. He stares at me like he knows I’m full of shit, then he finally speaks, and I release the breath I was holding.

“No. But Soren wanted Boston to run over some things with me.” He clenches his jaw and glances back at his car. “Can I wait inside? I drove straight here, and I don’t have the patience to catch up with him later.”

“Um, sure.” I step back and open the door wider. He enters, scanning the space. I can tell he’s judging the look of this place. I did too. It’s so beautiful.

“Have you tried calling him?” he asks.

“I would if I could find my phone,” I say. He shakes his head and moves deeper into the entryway. I shut the door and then show him where the living room is. “Let me see if I can find it.”

I leave him in the sitting room and go into the bedroom. I find my clothes on the floor where I left them, but I don’t see any sign of my phone. Last I remember, I gave it to him to install the app for the security cameras.

Just as I’m crawling under the bed, I see it light up.

Grabbing it, I notice he’s left me a message saying he had to leave for work, he didn’t want to wake me, and he’ll be back as soon as possible.

I try calling him, and it goes straight to voicemail.

I go back to the living room to find Victor sitting on the couch with his head tilted back.

His eyes are closed, and I think he might have fallen asleep.

I say his name, and his eyes spring open.

“He’s not here. He had a work emergency,” I tell him. “I’m going out, did you want to stay or—”

“I’ll stay,” he says, then lays his head back and closes his eyes again.

After I get ready, I take a second to check on Victor. He’s still asleep, his head bent at what looks like an uncomfortable angle.

He’ll probably wake up with a stiff neck.

But whatever, that’s not my problem.
