Chapter 28 #2

“Run, Annie.” His smile was predatory and full of dark promise. “I’m not done hunting you yet.”

I didn’t need to be told a third time. I spun and ran, my bare feet kicking up sand. My wrists were still bound with his tie, the silk sliding against my skin with each movement. The night air felt electric against my skin.

I made it maybe thirty feet before strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind, lifting me off my feet. My stomach dropped as we shot upward, the ground falling away beneath us. The fog enveloped us, as Cipher carried us higher.

I twisted in his grip until I was facing him, looping my bound arms over his head. He helped me wrap my legs around his waist so I could cling to him as the world disappeared below.

His mouth crashed against mine. There was nothing gentle about his kiss as his tongue invaded my mouth sliding against my tongue. I moaned into him and he drank the sound down.

His hand fumbled with fabric between us. There was a sharp tug and the delicate lace of my underwear gave way.

The sound of his zipper was loud in the quiet of the fog and then he was positioning me, one arm supporting my weight while his other hand guided himself to my entrance.

In one slow thrust, he sheathed himself inside me.

“Oh fuck,” I panted, my head falling back as my body stretched to accommodate him. The sensation was overwhelming, the fullness, the slight burn, the knowledge that there was nothing beneath us but air and fog.

I gave a startled laugh. “Are you seriously going to fuck me in midair?”

He smiled, his eyes gleaming with challenge. “I’m curious if I can.” He adjusted his grip on my waist, one arm locked tight around me while his other hand moved to my hip. “Hold on tight, Sparks.”

He lifted me slightly, then let gravity pull me back down his length. The sensation tore a moan from me, my inner walls clenching around him.

“That’s it,” he growled, repeating the motion. “Take all of me.”

The fog swirled around us, dampening my skin, catching in my lashes. I could see nothing but Cipher’s face, feel nothing but his body against mine, inside mine. The world had narrowed to this impossible moment, suspended in air, impaled on him, completely at his mercy.

I loved it.

The rhythm was strange but intoxicating, with gravity pulling me down while Cipher thrust up.

My body slid along his length with each controlled drop, the sensation unlike anything I’d experienced before.

I was suspended in nothingness, completely dependent on his strength, his power keeping us aloft.

“This is—” I gasped as he hit a spot deep inside me that made stars burst behind my eyelids. “This is ridiculous.”

I laughed again, half-hysterical with pleasure and the absurdity of our situation.

His mouth curved into that wicked smile I couldn’t resist. “Ridiculous?” He punctuated the word with a particularly deep thrust that made me cry out. “Or brilliant?”

“Both,” I managed, tightening my bound arms around his neck. “Definitely both.”

Cipher laughed too, the sound rumbling through his chest and vibrating against mine.

“Hold tight,” he commanded, shifting his grip to grasp my ass with both hands.

I locked my ankles tighter behind his back as he increased the pace.

“God, Annie,” he growled against my neck. “The way you feel around me—so fucking tight.”

My pussy clenched at his words, drawing a hiss from between his teeth. I was close already, embarrassingly so.

“I can’t—“ My voice broke as he changed the angle slightly, hitting that perfect spot with each thrust. “Cipher, I’m going to—“

“That’s it,” he murmured. “Come for me, Sparks. Let me feel you.”

I cried out his name and his rhythm faltered as I came with him following me over the edge, his body jerking against mine as he emptied himself inside me.

For several heartbeats, we remained suspended in the fog, our panting the only sound besides the distant crash of waves.

Slowly, he began our descent. The fog parted beneath us, revealing the dark beach below. My legs were still wrapped around his waist, his cock still inside me as we touched down on the sand.

Cipher lowered us both to the ground, easing me onto my back. The sand molded to my body as he braced himself above me.

I shifted uncomfortably, grimacing as I felt grit in places it definitely shouldn’t be.

“I have sand in my dress,” I frowned, tugging at the bunched fabric. “And probably everywhere else.”

Cipher laughed softly. His eyes glittered with amusement, his hair a wild mess from our flight and my fingers.

“You’re the one who suggested we play,” he reminded me, brushing a strand of hair from my face.

“I didn’t suggest we roll around in the sand like animals,” I grumbled, but there was no real heat behind it. My body felt too boneless with satisfaction to summon proper indignation.

Cipher pulled out of me with a satisfied exhale, then rolled onto his back, tugging me on top of him. I collapsed against his chest, my limbs heavy and uncoordinated.

“Cold?” he asked, wrapping his arms tighter around me when I shivered.

I nodded against his chest. His tux jacket offered minimal protection against the ocean breeze, especially with my dress hiked up around my waist and my underwear wherever they ended up.

“We should probably move,” I murmured, making absolutely no effort to do so. My body felt deliciously used, pleasantly sore in all the right places.

Cipher’s hand traced lazy patterns on my bare thigh. “Probably.”

Neither of us moved. His heartbeat thumped steadily beneath my ear, gradually slowing to its normal rhythm. The sound was comforting.

“Are we good?” he asked after a moment.

I considered the question, tracing a finger along the edge of his shirt collar. “As long as you don’t dance with other women like you want to fuck them against the nearest surface, then yes.”

Cipher caught my hand and pressed a kiss to my palm. “Deal. Though remember, I’m a good actor. I actually wanted to throw her through the wall.”

I snorted. “Well, you were very convincing.”

He pressed my palm against his cheek, giving my hand a gentle squeeze. “I know.”

“What about you?” I asked, lifting my head to meet his eyes. “Are we good?”

“We are.”

There had been the smallest hesitation before his answer, so small that most people would miss it. I stroked his cheek with my thumb, feeling the slight roughness of the beginnings of stubble beneath my fingertips.

“Are you sure?” I pressed. “Because that didn’t sound like you’re good.”

Cipher’s jaw tightened beneath my touch. “I’m good with us. When your charade with Valor is over, I will be.”

I swallowed hard, nodding. Fair enough.

“I don’t want him,” I said, needing him to understand. “I never have.”

“I know.” His hand slid up to cup my face, thumb brushing my cheekbone. “But every time he touches you, I want to break every one of his fingers. I want to...” Cipher took a deep breath like he was reigning himself in.

“I’m not his,” I whispered.

“No,” he agreed. “You’re mine. And I’m yours, Annie,” he said, no question in his voice.

I was quiet for a moment, letting his words settle over me.

“I know,” I finally said. And I did.

I understood why he had lashed out earlier tonight, dancing with that woman, touching her while making sure I was watching. He’d been hurt and angry, wanting me to feel the same knife-twist of jealousy that Valor’s possessive hands on me had caused him.
