A DO OVER for VIM

Bits of Book Seven

James stared up at the virtual giant of an angered biker and he gulped a little. The man was scary enough as he even had to duck below some doorways to get by. But when angry? Yeah, just think Andrey The Giant and Hannibal Lecter combined.

Bane didn’t look afraid of him though and that wasn’t surprising.

He gave Mountain a nod. “Whether I end Midland or not, he still has a reservation in hell for that con job. And I’d like to say your deal was the only one he pulled off, but it wasn’t.

He’s conned many. One job he did caused a few innocent’s deaths because of a faulty part, of all things.

There are more crimes, so he has plenty of blood on his hands too. ”

“So we have to bring them into the limelight and then they will pay,” Sam said.

James shook his head. “No, we do the exact opposite.”

Bane agreed, “You do not take it to the public. We search his house and if we find the evidence as in a paper trail that tells us what he’s been doing.

We then shut him down without announcement to the world.

We do it quickly and quietly. That way, we make sure these men on the other end of the deal will think twice before they make any moves to find out what happened to him.

This is how you take these fuckers down. ”

James nodded as he jumped in with the rest, “If he’s received money already without producing any product, tempers are going to flare and they will believe he stiffed them.”

Bane shrugged. “Then even if they look, they won’t find him of course. But they are the kind of men who will put a price on his head. And that won’t be paid until the powers that be see his head separated from his shoulders. But by then, he’ll be long gone.”

Deke studied him for a moment then said, “You sound like Owens is just going to disappear into the ether.”

Bane stared back and quietly explained his plan for this monster of a man, “He is. When I get done with him, he’s going to beg for death.

I intend to remind him of a few sins he committed, I will make him state the names of his victims. He will have to come up with many just to keep his fingers on his hand and his toes on his feet.

Then when he is done repenting said sins against innocent people, his suffering will end only by death. ”

Deke just stared at him for a moment then he shivered slightly.

The room went quiet as all the men here remembered who Bane always was. And they believed every word he uttered.

Mountain broke the tense silence, “I heard that you have changed in the last two years, Mr. Jessin. But as I look at you now, I don’t see that change.”

“What?” Bane demanded as he raised his hands in defense.

“This man has been responsible for men losing their lives. Honorable men of the military. Left widows and orphans in his wake while he raked in the fucking cash. He literally had blood spilt just for the green. He was judged and sentenced once already and he then stepped out free again. So are you suggesting that when we catch him, we give him mercy? I don’t think so.

” His hazel eyes rimmed with gold for a few seconds.

Then he blinked and the rage left his eyes.

James stared at him then he looked around at the Sin’s.

“Bane needs no defense, but you men do not know what all he has accomplished in the last couple of years. With our team, we have stopped Armageddon, literally. And I mean the real end of the world as we know it. They planned to destroy the crops, the water systems, the land and then release an army that did nothing but kill. That mission stands out as the scariest one we ever took on. Most cases we do not speak about but that one would have killed you and yours as well as everyone else. He and the VIM saved your hides along with our own. Had Bane not been the man that he is, I wouldn’t be standing here right now.

But neither would all of you. Take it for a solid, stone-cold fact. ”

The Sin’s Bastards MC men all stared at him with curious expressions and a few gave respectful nods.

Bane shook his head and added, “But don’t mistake his wonderful speech of defending my honor as a statement that I will show men like these mercy after they have drawn innocent blood. I am sure none of you would allow men like them to get away with it either.”

Deke, Mountain and Sam, all had done that very thing. So had a few others there...Put monsters down when it was needed.

Sam, of all people, stepped forward and told Bane, “I share that opinion. Men who kill and maim innocents deserve no mercy. Ones who allowed our soldiers to die and our veterans to be dishonored, they too deserve no mercy.”

Bane gave him a nod and looked around at the other bikers.

“No Mercy,” Deke agreed.

“No mercy,” Mountain added.

“NO MERCY,” the other MC men all stated in unison.

Charlie scoffed even as he winced as he told James, “No, you have Midland eyes.”

James shrugged. “Well, that’s because Tucker Senior was my father.”

Charlie sighed. “No, he wasn’t your father. I am. Aubrey had my children, my sons. I told you she was conniving.”

James paused at his admission. There was no way Charlie was his and Tucker’s dad.

Just no way. And Tucker had the proof. He rocked back on his heels and asked, “Is that what you think? That you fathered me and Tucker. Is that what you’ve thought all this time?

That Tucker was your son all these years and that your brother stole him from you?

Man, you are the real fool here, Charlie.

Tucker was never your son. And the fact that your raped our mother eight months before we were born is one of the sins my friend Bane here is going to teach you be sorry about.

You see, we believe when a woman says no, it fucking means no. ”

Charlie shook his head. “I don’t know what she’s been saying all these years but she came to me that night, not the other way around. I admit that I was half in love with her at the time. But sleeping together only made it right.”

James leaned down and informed him, “No Charlie, she told you no, that she wasn’t going to dishonor her marriage, not for you, not for anyone.

You’re the one who wouldn’t accept that.

You see Tucker has her diary. She wrote about the attack that night and she prayed that the baby wasn’t yours.

A blood test after he was born, confirmed it. ”

Charlie scoffed at this. “Then how was it nobody knew about you until four months ago? Huh? Tell me that, smart ass.”

James glared at him as he explained it, “Nobody knew I existed because one of the nurses in the maternity ward took me from the room right after I was born and she left me in the park in the next town over. I was found and because no one knew about my kidnapping I was put in the foster system. I was adopted three months later. The nurse was an old girlfriend of yours, you might remember her, Jenna Blackwell.”

Charlie looked annoyed by the name. “Yeah, I remember her, I remember telling her that I hated my brother and wished he would hurt the same way I was hurting. So she took you that night because she thought she was helping me.”

James slowly shook his head. “Well, when she got back to work, she realized that Tucker was born after she left with me and she couldn’t make him disappear too.

And because they couldn’t find me, our father never told Tucker he had a brother.

So your sweet girlfriend got busted a few days later after an investigation into her stealing pharmaceuticals and selling them.

She spent a long time in prison for causing a few overdoses in the hospital as well. Man, could you pick em or what?”

Bane stared at James. “Wow, that’s quite a story and one you never told before.”

James shrugged. “You have been sort of busy lately, Bane. You know?”

Charlie lowered his head and now seemed more concerned about checking on his bullet wound than any long-lost sons or nephews.

“I hope you bleed to death, fucker. You were a loser and still are, Charlie,” Deke stated. “You remember us, right?”

Charlie snapped his head up to glare at him and Sam.

“Yeah, you do,” Sam growled. “You fucking thief.”

Deke shook his head and stepped over to him. He grabbed one of his hands and wrenched it behind his back, then ziptied both hands.

Charlie screamed in pain. “My shoulder!”

“Aww, we are sooo sorry there, Charlie boy. Why would we want to cause you any pain?” Sam asked him in a cajoling voice. “It’s not like you gypped us out of millions of dollars, right?”

“Yeah,” Deke added to his comments. “It’s not like you hurt anyone. Like a hundred disabled veterans? Nooo, you wouldn’t do that, would you?”

Mountain went over and dealt with Jasper Owens. Ziptying his hands and moving him.

The man simply gaped at Mountain's size and he didn’t make any kind of a fuss. Knowing that the huge biker could easily snap his neck like a twig.

Perhaps he should have tried to get killed right off if he had known who and what Bane was. He didn’t seem to know him and he sure as hell did not know what his future would be when he met Bane officially.

They all moved to the front of the house.

Sitting the two zipteid men down in chairs, they had Sin’s men watching them.

Everyone else searched all the rooms in the house for anything that could be potentially dangerous or that might give them more information.

The men all came back with some files and a couple of cell phones. Hound brought in a laptop and asked James, “Can you break into one of these?”

James chuckled. “Is the sky blue?” He took it from him.

Bane had sat down at the kitchen table to read more of what was on the files that Hound had found. Suddenly, his cell pinged. Picking it up, he stared down at it to read the text he just got and sucked in a breath. He then snapped his head up.

Deke turned to stare at him. “What is it?”

Bane shook his head. “Like I said before.” He motioned to Owens.

“He didn’t just sit on his hands while in lockup.

Once a schemer, always a schemer. Right Jasper?

” he growled. “I had guessed this correctly. Owens planned to get rid of his enemies. Of which there are quite a few, it seems. One is me. Then there is James.” He again stared down at the cell in his hand to read the text a second time.

“Then there are two others. Shay Montross and Stone Masterson.”

The Sin’s Bastards all stared at him in a stunned silence.

“The fuck?” Deke spoke up. “We all know both men. Are they aware of this threat?”

“I just got this message from my IT, Excaliber. So no.”

Mountain paused. “That’s your IT?” he asked Bane in surprise. “Damn, that’s one of the Knights of Valor.”

“Yes, she's the best there is.” Bane gave him a nod as he did not mention that his own father was Valiant the leader of that same group.

“Nope,” Sam jumped in. “Baby Girl is the best.”

James nodded. “Seems there are quite a few of us that are at the top of that list.”

“We need to warn Pappy and Shay.” Sam took out his cell. He looked concerned as he had served with both men in the Service. They were also good friends of his to boot. He tapped a number and walked away to the far end of the room.

Bane stood and stepped over to where Jasper Owens sat in his chair. Glaring down at him, he said, “I watched you for years, you know.”

Owens slowly shook his head at him. “No, I did not know. Why?”

“Cause I knew you were bad. I always knew. Now, you will pay for all the lives you wrecked.”

“I already served time for that.” Owens scoffed.

Bane reached down and with both hands, he grabbed him by the collar to raise him up out of the chair then entirely lifted him from the floor. “No, you haven’t paid for any of it yet. But you will. I plan to skin you alive, motherfucker.”

Owens stared into his eyes. “Oh... I remember who you are now. Bane Jessin!”

Bane slowly nodded his head at him. “Before I am through, you will be reduced to a quivering bloody mass of flesh. Pain like you have never known will be your constant companion until I snuff you out.”

Jasper Owens looked frightened now. He trembled in terror as his feet left the floor completely.

“Don’t kill him yet!” Sam called out as he came running over to Bane.

Deke stared at his dad and asked, “What is it?”

Sam slowly shook his head as he had lost some of the color in his face. “Shay’s helicopter went missing. And guess who was riding with him?”

“Stone Masterson,” Jasper Owens whispered the answer.
