Epilogue Carriages and Corruption

Alaceandra

Ajolt forces me awake. I tug at my arms, but realize I am tied up.

Not this again. Taking stock of my surroundings, I keep my eyes closed.

Am I moving? I feel hazy as I realize that I am not alone.

Dreaming? I squint my eyes open and see my father and King Demetrius sitting across from me in what looks to be a carriage of some sort.

Another man sits beside me, but I cannot seem to recognize him. This does not feel like a dream.

"We have captured her, now what?" my father says grumpily.

"Well, it is simple really," the unknown man says. "She must marry a prince, not run off with one. If your prince is unable to do his duty, I will." His voice is eerily familiar. I shiver.

The man's palm touches my thigh, right over Sorin's bond mark. My thigh starts to burn, and agony fills my whole body. Then, I once again lose consciousness.
