Chapter 28
Nix
My butt drops to the mattress, and I bounce slightly. But I can’t pull my attention away from Volik’s face.
Tendrils of midnight leak from his eyes, slithering beneath his skin.
I’ve never seen this.
Never heard of this.
The blackness seeps into his cheeks. Looking like a living thing, a living shadow.
The room vibrates.
My knees fall open.
And quicker than my brain can follow, Volik moves over me. His wide body spreads my thighs farther, his hands pressing into the mattress next to my head.
Mint fills my lungs, and I feel… hungry.
So hungry and so empty I almost cry from need.
Something heavy and warm presses against my stomach. And it’s… large.
It’s so large.
There’s nothing left between us.
His skin is so hot.
I reach for him.
Volik.
Mate.
That word won’t stop repeating in my brain.
It won’t stop bouncing around the room.
My hands claw at his sides. And something pulses between us. Drawing our chests together.
I arch up. He leans down.
“Nix,” he heaves.
“Volik,” I whimper.
“Mine.” Volik lowers the final inch and licks his tongue across my lips.
