Chapter 5
Angevyn
T oday is the day, my thirtieth birthday. Luck wasn’t on my side. My request was approved, and I was given the morning shift. Once my shift is over, I go to my apartment and start getting ready. The only information Brier has told me is that this will be a double date—Diesel, Brier, Torque, and myself. They told me to wear heavy shoes or boots, jeans, a long-sleeved shirt, and bring a jacket. It gets colder now that we are at the end of October. It’s still somewhat warm by some people’s standards, though.
Given the dress code, it’s safe to assume that we will be on the bikes. Diesel has taken me on a couple of short trips to get me used to riding. The first time we went, I was scared to death. Having never been on a motorcycle before, it was intimidating. Diesel’s bike is all black and chrome. When I asked him what it was, he chuckled, saying it was a Harley-Davidson Ultra-Classic CVO. No wonder he laughed at me. Out of all of that, the only thing that made sense was Harley-Davidson.
The rumble of engines gets my attention. Grabbing my purse, phone, and keys, I quickly exit, knowing that if Diesel comes up here, we will end up in the bedroom all night.
The guys don’t bother shutting the bikes off, as they spot me right away. Reaching the small group, Diesel pulls me to him, laying a kiss on me that causes me to blush. Pulling away since we have an audience, he chuckles as he hands me my helmet then puts my purse in the saddle bag. Diesel told me the first time he took me out that Louisiana has a law that lids, or helmets, are mandatory.
Climbing on the back, the guys pull out of the parking lot as soon as I am settled.
