Chapter 9

Angevyn

T he lights come on suddenly, causing me to squint at the brightness. My brows draw down in confusion. Based on how Torque and Diesel explained this place earlier, it hadn’t been used in years. So, it made no sense that there was electricity now.

The feeling of hands on my body brings me back to the present, causing my eyes to fly open despite the bright light. Several cloaked figures are in the room, hands in the air as they mutter some type of chant in an unfamiliar language.

I look at Diesel, noticing his head hanging limp as several figures move his body from the room. His dick is still hanging out of his jeans, which brings awareness of my own nudity. Quickly, I try to cover myself, but whatever they have done to me has left me immobile.

“Do not worry, Scorpion, Eskòpyon. Ou pa bezwen rad.” You don’t need clothes.

As we move into the hallway toward the stairs, the room Brier and Torque are in has blood covering every visible surface, their limp bodies lying together. I let out a wail, or at least try to. Tears run down my face as I realize that they are both dead.

The group makes their way out to the back of the house. Candles are everywhere and create enough light to see. Diesel is on his knees, tied to a post, his arms behind his back. There is a gag in his mouth, and he tries to struggle to no avail.

A dark-skinned woman approaches me, running a finger down my cheek and along my jaw. Her heavy accent makes understanding her difficult.

“My girl, you have found your way to me. Mwen ka pote lanmou mwen tounen nan vivan an.” I can bring my love back to the living .
