4. Chapter Four #2

I shrug. “I already have power and money. I don’t need more, though I would never complain about having more. I didn’t want to play by your rules. The last thing I was going to let happen was follow your orders. So I took Sienna to prove a point.”

“To fuck us over?” Matteo asks in a flat voice.

“Sure. Why not? It’s fun.”

“Either let her go,” Gabriel says, “or marry her and agree to our peace deal.”

“If I say no to both?”

“Then we’ll have no choice but to kill you.”

“Ah. Got it.” I smile as I look around at Gabriel and his men. Four of them in total. I am outnumbered. But I have what they don’t: a chaotic energy that allows me to not give a fuck about anything. I have nothing to lose… unlike them. “So kill me then because I’m not letting Sienna go.”

“You’re making a mistake,” Gabriel says.

I open my arms wide. “Shoot me.” When none of them move, I laugh. “Ah. You can’t. You want to find Sienna first and you’re not sure where I’m keeping her. I am curious though. How exactly did you find out I’m the one who took Sienna?”

“Who else would it be?” Matteo asks. “You’re a fucking mad man.”

I narrow my eyes. “Was it Henrietta? Did she survive the bullet? Did she tell you I took her daughter? If she’s alive, I may have to pay her a visit.”

“Henrietta is dead,” Gabriel says flatly. “So there’s no one for you to visit.”

“Mmm.” I tap my gun against my chin. “I’m not sure if you’re lying to me or not about that. You could just be trying to protect her. If I start searching hospitals, will I find her?”

Gabriel surges forward and grabs my jacket. “Just agree to peace, Dante. Marry Sienna. Do the right thing. Or let her go.”

“I take it you won’t kill me if I let her go. That’s tempting. But I know mafia men like you, Gabriel. You’ll kill me even if I do let her go. The only way you don’t kill me is if I marry her, which I will not do. I will not be your dog.”

“Then we’ll have no choice but to take you with us.”

“So you can torture me?” I laugh once more.

“That’s cute.” In one fast motion, I smack my head into Gabriel’s, making him jerk back.

Before his men can move, I bring my gun up and start firing.

They all dive to the ground. That gives me a chance to get back into my car.

Matteo jumps to his feet and starts shooting at the window shield but I have reinforced windows on my car. No bullet is getting through.

I drive like a mad man away from the restaurant. I’m sure Gabriel and his men will follow me but I don’t rush. The last thing I’m going to do is lead them straight to my doorstep.

I carefully drive into a parking garage and park my car. With a whistle, I get out and find another car that will do. It’s easy to break in. I’ve done it many times in my life.

I just shoot the window, unlock the car, get in and hot wire it. Once it’s running, I drive out of the parking garage. In a new car, Gabriel will not be able to find me. It will be easy to replace my car. Money is not an issue.

I make it back to my home, ditching the car down the street. After calling one of my men to come deal with the car, I go inside my house. The strong, reinforced front door will be impossible for Gabriel to break into.

I’ve kept my house hidden for years. Even if and probably when Gabriel finds out about my house, I’ll have moved Sienna somewhere else. But for right now, I want to keep her here. My sex room is here. It’s fun here.

The door to the guest room creaks a little as I open it and peer inside. Is Sienna waiting to hit me again with a lamp? I have to give it to her. Despite her obvious fear of me, she has shown a strength I didn’t know she possessed.

But instead of trying to hit me again, Sienna is under the covers…

asleep. I must have worn her out with the vibrator.

The orgasm I gave her. I can’t help but smirk knowing she’s relaxed enough to sleep after what I did to her.

Well, the kidnapping and tying her to a cross for hours also tired her out, I’m sure.

She’s pretty when she sleeps. Well, she’s pretty when she’s awake too. But there’s something nice about seeing her sleep. Peaceful. Beautiful. The urge to kiss her again hits me and I back way from the door.

I shouldn’t want to kiss Sienna. A kiss is intimate. Personal. Vulnerable. I can’t show her those sides of me. Hell, I barely feel those sides of me on a normal basis.

So why am I feeling it now? Sienna means nothing to me. She’s just my prisoner I’m going to have my way with. It’s all for fun.

I keep reminding myself of that as I shut the door and walk away.

Sienna

I open my eyes the moment the door is shut. Dante is gone. I was pretending to be asleep, though I am exhausted. Sleep is on the verge of taking me but I’m glad I’m awake.

Because one thing happened: Dante didn’t lock the door.

When he left earlier, I heard the click of the lock in place. I didn’t hear it now when he just left.

Sitting up, I wait a beat, straining my ears to hear him. I hear nothing.

I get out of bed and walk over to the door. When I turn the knob, I find that the door opens right up. Is this a test? I hesitate. Dante could be playing another game again.

My body still remembers what he did to me with that vibrator. It haunts me and yet… I want to feel it again. That’s how good it was. The release of pleasure I got from that is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I feel… alive.

But there’s a good chance I might die the longer I stay with Dante and I need to leave.

Taking a breath, I step into the hallway.
