Chapter 38

BENNETT
I ’m in the study looking over the documents that my lawyer sent over when a soft knock lands against the door.
When my eyes move up, I’m met with one of the most beautiful sights in the world.
Ella is standing in the door way, her chestnut brown hair is in waves and the blue silky dress she is wearing looks absolutely perfect against her body. I want to walk over there and tear it off her.
But tonight is the one night that I have to hold off. She has to look presentable for her date after all.
“How do I look?” She asks, walking into the study and giving me a twirl.
My eyes immediately go to her ass. That fabric does wonders for her body.
“Like you’re going to be the hottest mom at this dance.”
A small laugh leaves her. “More like the youngest. I bet you a date that the second that Drake and I walk in, all eyes are going to be on us and people are going to start whispering.”
I give her a smirk as she walks closer to me. “They will no doubt be staring but it will have nothing to do with your age.”
“What would it have to with, then?”
Placing the paperwork on my desk, I close the distance between us, placing my hands on her hips.
“The fact that you are a Lane. The second that you walk into that room, everyone is going to be looking at you and talking because you are a Lane and were able to one thing all of them wish they could.”
Her arms go around my neck and she brings her face closer to mine. “And what is that?”
“Married the billionaire bachelor.”
“Hm. I wonder what they would say that he paid me to marry him?”
I narrow my eyes at the woman and let my hands travel down to her ass and I grip onto her globes until she lets out a yelp.
Quickly the yelp is replaced with a giggle. “I was kidding.”
She leans up and places her lips against mine and as I’m about to slide my tongue in her mouth, she pulls away and looks over my shoulder.
“I thought you said you were done with work for the day.” her eyebrows raise up as she looks at me questionably.
“I am. That’s some personal stuff.”
“Oh?”
Might as well tell her. She’s going to find out either way, but if I hold it in, she is going to thing that it’s something that it’s not.
I let go of her ass, putting space between us and walking back to the desk.
“I had talked to my lawyer a few weeks ago about making a few changes to my estate, and he finally sent everything over for me to look over.” I grab the paperwork and hand it over to her.
She looks up at me with concern. “Your estate?”
“Just case something happens to me, I want to have everything in order.”
Her eyes get sad at my words, but she nods un understanding.
Death is always a difficult subject. Especially when you wish it never comes, but it’s one of those things of life that just happens.
From a young age, I always knew that I needed to plan for when my death came. That’s one of the thing that my parents taught me, to prepare for the worst. To make sure everything is line before something bad happens to me and my family is left with nothing.
Nine years ago, I added the kids to the estate, leaving almost everything to them. But now that Ella and Charlie are here to stay and are now a part of our family until the end of time, I needed to make some changes. Now more than ever.
Peter Hill is taken care of, but there are plenty of people out there that are just like him, that will want to come after me or my family and I need to be prepared.
“What changes did you make?” Ella asks, doing a quick scan of the papers I gave her.
I don’t answer her. I just let her continue reading the paperwork.
When she looks up at me and starts shaking her head, I know she found it.
“No.”
“Ella.”
“You’re not leaving me fifty percent of your fortune.” She shakes her head again as if doing so is going to change the outcome. She’s cute when she gets like this, a with anything else, I would appease her, but not with this.
If it weren’t for the kids, she would be getting a lot more than fifty percent. She is also getting all my shares of Lane Enterprises.
Sensing that she is seconds away from freaking out, I place my hands on either side of her face and stop the shaking, making her looking to my eyes. “Too late. It’s already done. If anything is to ever happen to me, you are taken care of. For life.”
Tears start to form in her eyes, but she does her best to not let them fall.
“Can I reject it?” She lets out, almost defeated.
I can’t help but to smirk at her. “Sure, but only after you are taken care of.”
“Fine.”
Not being able to help myself, I place a chaste kiss on her lips before I pull back.
“I also took care of Charlie. A trust fund is set up in her name.”
A small gasp leaves her and it takes her a second to formulate words to speak. “Why would you do that?”
“Because she’s family. And all of my family deserves to be taken care of. I did it for all the kids, and if any other kids come in the future, they will get the same treatment.”
As she looks up at me, her eyes gleam with love. I think she is just now realizing that I meant what I said. This is real between us. No more agreement. No more timeline. Just fucking love that neither one of us wants to let go.
I married her to get the CEO title, but I will stay married to her forever, because she is it for me. She is the one woman that changed my perspective on marriage. The one woman that has captured my attention from day one.
“You want more kids?” She asks, a small smile playing on her lips.
“There was a point where I didn’t. I already had four that talked back, I couldn’t imagine more of them, but now, with you, I think it would be nice to have children of my own.”
Another kiss lands on lips. “Maybe we can add one more.”
“However many you want.”
She smile so bright, it lights up the whole room.
“Thank you,” she lets out, shifting until her arms are around my waist and her head is resting against my chest.
“For saying yes to more kids?” I say through a small chuckle, wrapping my arms around her.
“No.” She pulls away, just enough to look up at me. “For giving me the life I always wanted, and never thought I would get. For making every one of my wildest dreams come true. For taking care of both me and Charlie and taking away the fear that I was going to lose her.”
I place a hand on her cheek and run my thumb along their skin when she leans into my touch.
“You told me once that one of your goals was to make sure you gave your sister the life that she deserved. I have the same goal for you. I plan on giving you the life you deserve and more for the rest of my life.”
This time when the tears come, she lets them fall to giving a shit that her make up is getting ruin. “I love you, Bennett Lane.”
Hearing her say those words does something to me. Like I want to hear those words and only those words for the rest of my life.
“I love you too, Sweet Ella.”
And I do. This woman owns my whole heart an a way no other woman ever would.
Not giving a shit anymore, I slam my mouth against hers, while one of my hands goes to into her hair and hold her face to mine.
Her mouth is fucking delicious and if we had more time, I would take my time exploring it and mesmerizing every single inch as if it were the first time before making my way down the rest of her body.
But there’s a chance that a ten year old is going to be storming in here any minute.
My tongue slides again hers and she lets out a hum that goes straight to my cock and my hands itch to slide to slide between her legs and seeing if she is drenched for me.
The only thing that is holding me together is that I know that she’ll be in my bed tonight and her pussy will be mine for the fucking taking.
Having some self control, I pull away from my wife and an idea brings to mind.
“Tomorrow, you’re mine. No kids. No interruptions. Absolutely nothing that will take you away from me.”
A smirk forms on Ella’s face and it’s the sexiest thing in the world. “Yes, husband.”
If my cock wasn’t rock hard before, it is now.
I’ve heard Ella call me her husband. She has said it here and there when she talking to people and telling them about her day but has never used it in that tone and I like it way more that I should.
It’s just a word, but hearing it in a sultry manner has me wanting to say fuck whatever prior commitments she has and bending her over the desk that is behind me and fucking her brains out.
Control.
Have fucking control.
“You’re going to be repeating those words nonstop tomorrow night.”
“Hm. Can’t wait.” The way her smirk grows tells me that she knows exactly what is happening to me with her words.
Before I do something stupid and have her cancel on the excited ten year old that had Henry order a corsage, I take her hand in mind and walk us out of the room.
As we walk to the front go the house, I hear a giggle coming from the living room. Drake is laughing at something Henry is saying and it’s one of the best sounds out there.
As we get close to the sound, my mind goes back in time.
If my parents hadn’t died, and Robert hadn’t left, would that sound exist? Would I know what it’s like to raise four kids the aren’t mine or what it’s like to hear them laugh or see them smile? Would I know what it’s like to be a father and raise kids as if they were my own?
There are more days that I can count where I have wished that my parents were still here. That I wasn’t orphaned and and didn’t have abandonment issues that can’t be repaired. But then the what if come to mind and those wishes vanish.
I miss my parents, there is no doubt about that, but I don’t know what I would have done without the things that their death brought. I don’t know the person that I would be and I truthfully don’t want to know.
When we reach the living room, Henry is pinning a boutonniere on Drake’s suit jacket. The kid may nearly be eleven years old, but he looks so damn grown up. He reminds me of Elliot when he was the same age.
“I have your date for you bud,” I say to the room.
Drake turns to us with a big smile and once his own flower is situated, he grabs the one is sitting on the coffee table and walks over.
“This is for you.” He holds up the small box for Ella, his smile growing even more.
My wife takes the box from my nephew, before bending down a bit and placing a kiss on his cheek.
“Thank you. It’s very beautiful.”
The kid watches with excitement as she opens the box and slides on the corsage.
To some people, this may just be another mother and son dance, but to him, this is everything. He has never had a mother figure in his life, hell he doesn’t even know his own mother, so having Ella do this with him, means so much to him and I know that he will never forget it.
Part of me wants to kick myself in the ass for not bringing a female that the kids could look up to into our lives sooner, but I guess I was just waiting for the right assistant.
Because they love Ella just as much as I do.
“Are you ready to go? We can’t be late.” Drake says, nearly bouncing up and down on his feet.
Ella lets out a laugh and holds out her hand. “I’m ready if you are.”
With an excited nod, Drake slide his hand into Ella’s and waves to me and Henry as they start making their way out of the house.
Henry and I watch from the fronts steps as they get into the car waiting to take them to the dance and we stay there until the car disappears down the long drive.
“Henry?” I say as the car fades into the distance.
“Yes, sir?”
“I’m going to need my mother’s ring.” I turn to look over at the man and find him with a smile on his face.
“It’s a good thing that I just had it cleaned.”
Good.
Now it can go where it belongs.
On the finger of my wife.
