Chapter 18

Family Dinner

The Fearless Camp is silent for once—no jealous outbursts from Axel. Oh, wait, that was a lie. One of my followers may or may not have told Brody McDougall where Scarlett was tonight. Axel baby, we love a possessive hero, or is it an anti-hero? Pictures will be posted soon. You're welcome.

Axel

Fuck. My eyes roll back into my head. Never have I ever come that hard or that fast. She fucking took it all. She makes a move to get out of my embrace, embarrassment is probably setting in, but I don’t want to let her go. “No, not yet.”

She nervously looks around. “But someone may come out of their room.”

My jaw clenches. “They aren’t going to after hearing us.” She looks up, surprised. Her lips are puffy and red. “Was I too rough with you?”

“No!” She yells, then adds with a whisper. “I loved every thrust, Ax.”

Well, that makes my cock spring back to life. Scarlett can handle the darkness. “Let me taste myself on you.” My eyes darken, and my mouth comes down to hers.

“Please! For the love of God, can we come out yet?” Dallas shouts from Sasha's room.

I laugh, and Scarlett makes a mad dash out of my arms. Her flushed cheeks turn a crimson red.

“Hold on.” Waiting until she's fully covered, “It's safe.” She hides behind me, but I pull her out front and center.

She's mine, fuck that. We've done nothing to be ashamed of.

A smug smile reaches my lips because my girl's pussy is a dream.

Scarlett is like a drug slipping through my veins.

She's awakened something in me. Hope? Trust?

Maybe sometimes people do stay. People can like you because of you, not because of the money or what they can take from you. I don't think she's like that.

Dallas comes around the corner, smirking. “Y'all are going to have us late for family dinner. You know how Jake gets in his feelings when he's prepared a masterpiece, and it gets cold.”

She looks over at me with a smile. “Can Jake cook?”

Dallas and I answer simultaneously. “Yeah!”

Sasha pops up. “But don't tell him they said that his ego is worse than this one's.” She points at me and laughs.

I roll my eyes, and Scarlett's grin grows. “Well, y'all better bring me a plate back then.”

Toby looks at his watch. “You're not coming with us?”

She shakes her head. “Not this time, guys. I didn't know about it, and I've already committed.”

No. The. Fuck. She's. Not. Plans with Brody? I grab her hand and lead her back to the bedroom. “We will see you guys there.”

“I won't, but he will.” She barks back as she tries to take her hand out of mine.

Pinning her against the wall, I block her in. “Where the fuck are you going?”

She stares me down, not intimidated one bit. “None of your business.”

Taking a few deep breaths, I try to control my temper.

Inviting her slipped my mind with the whole Fearless Insta charade, so she has a right to be upset.

This boyfriend shit is hard. “With everything that's happened today, I forgot to ask you to come.

But Scarlett, Sunday nights are for family dinner.

You're my girlfriend and now a part of the group. We don't miss this weekly dinner.”

Her go-to-hell look dissolves away. Mostly. I am making progress. “Axel, I will be there next week with bells on, but someone just messaged my news email and wants a meeting with me tonight. She says she's got the scoop of the year.”

Lifting an eyebrow, I need more information. What if someone is setting a trap for her? “Who?”

Scarlett lets out a frustrated sigh. “No names until the meetup. That's how confidential informants work in journalism.”

“Tell them you can meet after dinner, and I'll go with you.” When she starts to protest, I add with a whisper in her ear.

“Scarlett, the moment my lips tasted your sweet pussy you became mine.

And Creeds protect what's theirs. Either you tell them, or I will.” We stare at each other, her defiance still lingering at the surface, but Scarlett nods in agreement. I kiss her lips softly. “Good girl.”

She almost purrs at the praise. We change clothes and head to Fearless House.

This relationship shit is new to me. Hopefully, I'm doing it right.

Rubbing my hands up and down her thick thighs is my new favorite thing.

Scarlett says nothing, but her body responds to my touch and has since the beginning. Her breathing has turned shallow.

“Did the person respond about your meeting?” I say, breaking the silence.

“Yes. I told them around 8:30 would be a good time. Also, they want me to come alone.” She says the last part under her breath.

I shrug. “Tough shit.” Which I say loud and clear to let her know my mind is not being changed.

She huffs air out of her lungs. She's pissed but doesn't say anything else.

Scarlett has to think I'm being difficult, but honestly, it's for her own protection.

My presence will be in the background. No one will even know I'm there unless they need to know.

After the shit that went down last year with Dani and Jake, I won't take any chances when it comes to her safety.

We pull up to the house, and my girl jumps out, not waiting for me. Insert a big ass smirk here because I like a chase.

***

Axel is a Neanderthal, and sometimes I just want to punch him in his beautiful face!

-Scarlett

Jaxon opens the door with a smile. “New friend! What's up?”

I smile because this guy... “Nothing much, but I’m starving. Oh, and Axel's a dick.”

Jaxon laughs and wraps my shoulders in a half hug. Looking behind me with a smirk. “Oh, he's the actual worst!”

Axel removes Jaxon's arm from around me. “I'm sorry, but all my ears heard was that both of you think I have a big dick.”

Smiling big because, yeah, he does. “Shut up.” This is my only response, and because he's cute when he's jealous, I don't try to pull away when his arm replaces Jaxon.

Jaxon laughs but rolls his eyes. We follow him into the dining room, where my nose almost has an orgasm from the delicious smells. I'm hungry.

“Hey, guys. Sorry, we're late.” Axel pulls out my chair for me before sitting beside Jaxon.

Jake has his arms folded at the top of the table. A stern look locked on Axel before turning a charming smile on me. “Glad you're here, Scarlett. Welcome to the family dinner. And Axel, fried chicken waits for no one. Let's be early next week, huh?”

I can't help but chuckle. Dani puts her hand on Jakes's arm. “Babe, Axel was ten minutes late. The chicken is still hot and will be phenomenal. Let's eat.”

He sends her a wink. “You heard my Georgia. Let's eat!”

The Jake Ryan has made a feast. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob, and green beans.

Basically, it’s Heaven on Earth. I’m loading my plate and not caring who sees.

Even Sasha, who's curvy but not like me, has hers stacked.

Axel places his hand on my knee and squeezes, sending a shiver through my body.

He smirks knowing good and well what he does to me.

“Mmm...Mmm...” I groan with delight. I've never been a quiet eater.

If something's good, you will know how much my tummy approves.

Axel's fingers dig into my knee as he makes a gurgling sound.

The entire table is staring at me with amused expressions.

Why am I like this? Shrugging because what else is there to do, really?

Everybody's got weird quirks. “Jake, 10 or of 10, would recommend.”

He salutes me with his beer, and the entire table erupts in laughter, minus my boyfriend. Jaxon slaps Axel on the back. “You okay, Bro?”

He gives me a smoldering look. “Yes.” He answers his best friend.

Dallas can't help but put in his two cents. He's mischievous as they come. “Okay, you two, let's keep it PG at the table.”

Sasha giggles, and my face turns into a tomato. Of course, Toby, being Toby, feels like it's okay to add his commentary about our earlier foyer oral sexcapade. Because why not? “Well, ain't nothing about our foyer back at the apartment PG anymore.”

Axel lunges for Toby, which he's prepared for, and starts running away. Sasha laughs and then joins in on the fun. “Scarlett, do you have a bruise on your butt where Axel dropped you?”

Hiding my face in my hands. Dear Lord! I knew my first PDA encounter would come back to haunt me. Dani and Sasha share a knowing look with me, because the Fearless men are too addicting, and the temptation is just too strong. We can't stay away.

Even Jake is amused. “I've come to the conclusion that we will never have a family dinner that doesn't end up with a chase.” All the boys get up and gang up on Axel, and we girls cheer for our respective men, and believe it or not, mine isn't easily taken down.

I guess that's why they call him rabies.

Dani whistles for Jake as he slams Axel down. “Scarlett, I'm so glad y'all have gotten together. All he needed was a good woman. He hasn't had it easy, his family sucks.”

My ears perk up. We haven't really talked a lot about that sort of stuff yet. What makes his people suck? “Thank you. We're still winging it, but he's so...infuriating, yet wonderful.” They sigh.

After the boys fight, dinner commences. Then I volunteer along with Toby to be on clean-up duty, and everyone else goes into the living room to play video games.

Taking my phone out, I put on some tunes to help make cleaning fun.

Toby turns it off. “No, ma'am. There is some gossip to be had here.

Why do you think I said I would help clean, and it's not even my week.”

Rolling my eyes at my friend but understanding at the same time. “Well, didn't you get enough of that this afternoon?”

He laughs. “There is never enough gossip to be had, Lou. First things first. Y'all are both my friends equally, but I will body slam him if he steps out of line. Just let me know.”

Toby, sweet Toby. “Thanks. And oh, I will.”

He continues rinsing off the dishes. “You know, I've never seen him like this. He's always so controlled, even when he's doing his rabies shit. It's thought out, almost like planned chaos. But with you, he loses it.”

“Shut up.” But no, really, tell me more.

“Girl, you got that boy smitten.” Yes, please.

“I've been bit by that same smitten bug.” I change the subject quickly because admitting that last part out loud was hard. “So, Mr. Star Pitcher, how about an exclusive?”

He groans. “I would love to, Scarlett, but I'm too nervous. What if it's a fluke, and putting me on the team was their biggest mistake? Or what if I get injured again.”

“Toby, where is my overconfident friend, and what have you done with him? Toughen up, Buttercup, because you're going to dominate that field. Repeat after me, I will make that baseball field my Bitch.”

He nods, taking a deep breath. “I'm going to make that baseball field my Bitch! You know what, that baseball field is already my Bitch!”

Axel stands by the wall. His face is impassive. Did he hear me say that I was smitten? A knock sounds at the door, jarring us from the staring contest we were just in. Hector calls out. “Scarlett, Brody's here to see you.”

Axel seethes, and I don't know what to do. Because what the fuck? Does Brody have a death wish? He just keeps showing up everywhere.
