Epilogue

Happily Ever After

There was a time when I thought I'd never find happiness, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Axel completes me. -Scarlett Creed

I rub my rounded belly and try to make it down the stairs without falling.

Axel hovers behind me like he always does.

He's been so worried about not only me but the babies.

We're pregnant with twins, one girl and one boy.

Axel and I married at the courthouse the summer of senior year and have never looked back.

It's been the best four years of our life.

Axel is going to be a wonderful father, but I do feel sorry for our little girl-to-be.

Stephanie, named after my mom, will be the apple of her daddy's eye.

He's liable not to let her leave the house until she's thirty, and if it's up to him, she'll never date.

If our little boy, Axel Jr., looks like his daddy, I feel sorry for all the little girls.

He's bound to break more than just one heart.

I almost slip because I can't see over my belly to look down at the steps. "You should have let me carry you," Axel grumbles.

I laugh. "Shush it, Mr. Creed."

He pulls me into a warm embrace. "Watch it, Mrs. Creed." He warns.

The warmth of which goes straight to my pussy. Wanting him is as necessary as the oxygen in my blood, especially being pregnant. My hormones have been working overtime. "Don't tempt me with a good time, Ax."

His eyes darken. "We have some time before the ceremony starts."

"Later," I promise. "I need to speak with Toby for a minute."

Everyone, including Toby, wound up in Atlanta—the Fearless with the Falcons and Toby with the Braves.

I kiss Axel before walking around to the room where Toby is waiting for me on the patio.

He's a bundle of nerves. Axel whispers that he'll give me ten minutes, but then he's coming to get me.

I doubt he'll even give us that long because that man of mine is always watching. He’ll join the other groomsmen until then.

Toby smiles as I come to stand beside him. The gardens beyond are breathtaking. "You ready, Tobes?"

He wipes a tear from the corner of his eye. Patting his back, I smile up at him. "I'm more than ready, Lou. I'm so in love with this girl. How could I ever think Karen was the one for me?"

I shrug. "Beats the hell out of me. The day we had our stakeout and caught her was the best thing to happen to you."

He nods. "True, I mean, all the drinking and the whoring sent me barreling into my bride's path."

I laugh. "Yeah, that was a rough time, but look at you now."

Four years Later...

Scarlett is my lifeline. Everything I'm not, she is. -Axel Creed

I place my arms around my wife's waist as she washes the dishes. The twin terrors are napping, and I finally have Scarlett all to myself—those times are few and far between these days. "Dance with me." I kiss her neck and smile as her lustful sigh reaches my ears.

She turns to me, and I twirl her around the kitchen. She smirks up at me. "But there's no music."

I scoff. "When have we ever needed music?"

She rolls her eyes. "Since you knocked me up again, I can't have tequila."

I laugh and rub her swollen belly. "Oh, I plan on keeping you barefoot and pregnant. You look so fucking hot carrying our baby."

"Good thing I've quit the news station and started writing full-time, huh?" She replies.

I smile lovingly down at her. Scarlett's decision to quit wasn't easy for her, and as much as I interfered in her life, that wasn't one of the times. I wanted her to do what was best for her. "Yes, I need to know what happened to Mr. Billingsworth and that lovely Governess of his."

She slaps my arm. "Well, he caught her and had his wicked way with her."

"Really? Did he fuck her up against his truck at his bar?" I kiss her awaiting lips.

"You mean Fight Club?" She replies sassily.

Rolling my eyes, I back her up against the counter and box her in. "The first rule of Fight Club is nobody talks about Fight Club."

She shrugs. "Sounds like a stupid rule to me."

Amusement lightens my features because, with her, life will never be boring. "Smart mouths get spankings, Wallflower."

"Don't write a check your ass can't cash, Rabies." She counters.

I crash my mouth to hers. No matter what we do or where we go, we'll always have each other. She promised she'll never leave, and I promised to always protect.
