Today is the day you become Lily Kim James, and I become the happiest man on earth. I wish I had the words to explain to you exactly how I am feeling, but that is your area of expertise. All I can tell you is that, with you, I feel complete. Every tattered part of me is now entwined with every broken piece of you, and together, we are whole. I’ve never felt so cared for more than how you care for me. Every morning, I rush to wake to see your beautiful face, and every night I close my eyes to dream of you. The light of your love is like the sun, nurturing and shining on everything around you. Shadow is the luckiest dog in the world to have you as her mom, and I can only imagine how that love will transfer to our children. I can’t wait to have kids with you, Lily. To see your belly filled with our child. To hold your hand through every step, and to watch them come into the world and into our arms. You were meant to be a mom, and I will try with everything in me to be the best dad. Our family is growing today, baby, as you take my last name. Soon, it will grow again, I can feel it in my bones. I’ll swing my hammer every day until that stick has two lines. (Don’t laugh, I worked hard on that line, and my dick is proud of it.)
You don’t know this, but I had your bracelet, ring and this necklace all made at the same time. I knew within two months of meeting you that you were the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Each part of this gift was strategic and symbolic. I see you in the flowers of this necklace, growing and bringing beauty and joy to those around you. You have so much strength in you, Lily. Despite everything, you shine and keep moving forward. It is my honor to get to grow with you for the rest of our lives.

I knew you were special when you took the time to get to know me, and waited for me to be ready for your heart. Your love and devotion to family astounds me. Your strength, while being gentle, your fierce protectiveness, while being my best friend. You are the person I want to dive headfirst into life with. When I plan an adventure, it’s you I want holding the map… partially because I’m clearly bad with directions. I want to plunge into the cold waters of the future with you because it looks bigger and brighter by your side. There is no greater man in the world than you and no place I would rather be than with you. On this day, you become a husband and I become a wife, and I already know it is something we will both excel at. Loving you is the easiest thing I have ever done. I got you socks with Shadow on them in case of cold feet, and so she can remain at our side where she belongs. The watch is made from a fir tree that was taken from our favorite clearing in the woods. I hope as you carry it with you, it always brings the sense of serenity we feel there. There is a small heart engraved in the back because you carry my heart with you, Thoren. It only beats for you, much like that watch.
