16. Lirion

The thing about Lirion’s nature was that any powerful emotion could get him wound up very quickly. Normally a good thing, he used it to his advantage when it came to sex, fighting, and life in general.

But when the emotion happened to be anger and an active bar fight was going on, then it wasn’t a good thing.

Lirion dodged a tankard as it flew past his head, close enough he felt the whoosh of displaced air as it nearly grazed his cheek. Even as he ducked, his eyes watched for the next random item to come flying in his direction, be that either fists or another mug.

Still, the press of the surrounding people, their emotions heightened, became a battering ram against his own senses. He didn’t have to even brush up against someone to feel the strong anger anger anger mixed in with pain.

Lirion had to get out of here before he got too tangled up with this—or hurt, of course—but the emotions were clouding his judgment.

His skin felt too tight on his body and nerve endings tingled.

It was as if his entire body was becoming charged, like the air seconds before a lightning strike.

Everything was overloaded and he couldn’t pull together a single clear thought.

He was too sensitive; every brush of their energy felt like a slap to the face.

There… There was the door. A tangled of limbs, fists, and anger blocked him from reaching it, but Lirion had to get through that open door somehow.

He was still vaguely aware of Fenric sitting across from him at the back of the tavern, but he wasn’t even sure if the other man was still talking. Lirion needed to escape.

Anger.

Anger.

FEAR FEAR FEAR.

Lirion flinched from that one in particular and felt his already amped-up emotions do a double war beat against his chest. He breathed in short, harsh breaths, felt his heartbeat skitter as an all too familiar zing of anticipation and adrenaline rushed through him.

He shoved to his feet, swaying and unsteady. Each step felt like he was slogging through a swamp. Too many bodies. Too much sweaty flesh, the scent of fear and excitement mixing in his nose.

Shit, no. He didn’t want to feel like this here, of all places. Lirion wished soggy bread and impotence upon all the assholes who had started this fight.

He ducked another arm, slid through a tight opening when he saw one, and kept pushing for the door.

Must get out.

Had to leave. Had to leave right now.

It honestly felt like he was dizzy with a heatstroke by the time he put a hand on the doorknob, he was so high from the emotions.

His face felt unnaturally flushed, like a fever under his skin, and the entire world was fuzzy around the edges.

The cool metal of the knob was a relief to him, and he almost wanted to just stand there and hold on to it for a while, but no.

Instead, he wrenched the door open and threw himself out of the chaos, then made it several steps along the porch, away from the door entirely.

The bright summer sun was searing, and he wished for the blessed coolness of dark night.

Fetching up against a post, he stood there and breathed in harsh pants, trying to get his racing heart back under control. It wasn’t working. Even being away from all of that madness inside wasn’t enough. He was too turned on now, pushed far past his limit.

He needed sex.

Rough, hard, angry sex to purge this need out of his blood.

A hand landed on his shoulder, not hard but heavy. “Hey, you doing all right?”

Fenric.

Lirion looked up at him for a moment, just staring, his mind struggling to comprehend why Fenric’s scarred face was filled with such concern. Why ask how Lirion was? Had the rogue followed him out of the fight? He must have, to be standing here.

“Lirion? You’re looking off.”

His hand felt good—warm, masculine—but it would be so much better if there wasn’t any cloth between them. His voice was mesmerizing, too, so easy on the ear.

Some instinct whispered that Fenric was right there, after all.

Why not take advantage? That first taste had been tainted by anger and frustration.

This could be something different. Relief.

Any thought Lirion had of not really liking this man fell away, unnoticed, as the impulse seized him.

He didn’t think twice, just grabbed Fenric by his hand and hauled him right off the porch.

“Whoa, whoa! Where are you taking me? Where—”

Lirion felt like he was this close to busting out of his own skin. There was no finesse in him. He took them straight into the deserted alley next to the building, found a stack of barrels on one side to provide some semblance of privacy, and promptly beelined for it.

Fenric didn’t fight him, just grunted as he landed with his shoulders right against the brick wall.

“The hell—”

That was all Fenric managed before Lirion was on him, seizing his mouth without apology.

Fenric startled under his hands but didn’t fight him off.

Lirion was too overwrought to really watch how much of his magic he was pouring into the man, hands desperately searching for the ties holding the man’s trousers in place.

Fenric seized his hair with both hands, and the kiss became less force and more challenge.

Lirion delighted in the tug on his scalp, the way Fenric’s tongue pushed its way inside.

He actually lost the thread for a moment and forgot what his hands had been trying to do while he let Fenric kiss him senseless.

But Fenric’s lust slammed into him, ratcheting up his need to a whole other level. He went from a hungry man to one starved, and his hands flew into action once more. He let Fenric kiss him, enjoying the taste of the man on his tongue.

Lirion’s nimble fingers found their way through the knot and Fenric’s pants opened, welcoming him inside.

Oh, lovely, that was. Fenric’s hard length already waited for him to get a hand on it, and the size of it?

Also thrilling. From Lirion’s vast experience, he could tell his dick was the perfect size.

Well endowed enough to give Lirion a lovely ride, but not so large as to give him discomfort or trouble.

Damn shame he didn’t have the patience to prep right now, but Lirion truly didn’t. This was a rough hand job, maybe a blow job, but nothing else.

Lirion felt and tasted it as Fenric gasped in shocked pleasure. Ha, he was very sensitive, delightfully so. Damn shame, that.

Overcome with an urge, Lirion shoved pants out of the way and ripped his mouth away from Fenric’s, dropping sharply onto his knees.

The man gave a protesting sound, but Lirion ignored him.

He wanted his mouth on Fenric’s cock—a pretty cock, of course it was, and that irked Lirion on some level.

Look at it, being so long and smooth and itching for attention as it stood upright from a tidy nest of dark curls.

The most tantalizing musk rose from Fenric’s groin, along with a faint hint of soap, making Lirion’s mouth water.

He seized the cock between his lips, sucking the tip right into his mouth. His frenzy drove him forward, and he seized Fenric’s ass cheeks with both hands, squeezing and working them with his palms. It forced Fenric’s hips to jerk and Lirion almost deep-throated on instinct.

Lirion didn’t at all mind. He didn’t have a gag reflex anyway, so he pulled the man’s hips tight against him again.

Ah, perfect. Look at him picking up Lirion’s silent invitation so easily.

The smooth way Fenric’s cock slid in and out of his mouth, feeling how it rubbed against his throat, using his tongue to stroke the underside—it was all precisely what Lirion needed.

More, more, more. The sexual energy pouring off Fenric was a heady delight.

Like the finest of meals prepared with the perfect spices, served at the correct temperature, all right here in Lirion’s mouth.

Lirion felt the unpleasant emotions of before drain away, replaced with the pure satisfaction of good, rough sex.

Even the burn against his throat was a delight right now.

His own cock was hard and weeping for attention.

Lirion felt it, but it was an almost absent thing, an afterthought.

Still, he wanted relief as well, and he opened his pants to draw his dick out.

The lack of confines was briefly blissful against his overly hot skin, but now that it was free, it wanted attention.

Lirion put a hand to himself, absently jerking off even as he worked the hot shaft in his mouth. The fingers still gripping his hair tightened to an almost painful level.

“Co—” Fenric gasped and tried again. “Coming!”

While it was nice Fenric warned him, it wasn’t necessary.

Lirion kept working Fenric’s shaft, delighting as the energy and pleasure of the climax built until it abruptly exploded.

Hot semen flooded his mouth, but he swallowed it down without issue.

The flood of such wonderful sexual energy felt like the best banquet he’d ever attended.

What was it about Fenric’s energy that felt like a cool mountain morning, right as the sun rose?

Like it was calming and cleansing all at once.

Lirion shook the fancy off, licked him clean, then drew off completely. Only then did he realize he’d come at some point. Truly, Fenric’s energy had overwhelmed him there. At least for a moment.

“You,” Fenric panted, “are an incubus.”

Lirion stayed kneeling—truthfully, he was enjoying the taste of Fenric’s afterglow too much to make standing appealing—but cocked his head. “No. What was your first clue?”

“I hear your sarcasm.”

“I should hope so, Sexy Eyes. I’m slathering it on thick enough.”

Fenric just chuckled, the sound low, rough, and so damn sexy. It was like a dessert for the meal Lirion had just enjoyed. “Warn a man next time.”

Oh. Right, it probably had been intense on Fenric’s part, especially with no warning.

The first time anyone was with an incubus or succubus, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.

At the height of a sexual wave, an incubus’s powers could magnify feelings tenfold and overwhelm their partners.

Sometimes intentionally, but in cases like this one, rather by accident.

A hint of guilt pinged Lirion’s conscience and he cleared his throat. “Sorry. All of that heightened emotion at the bar got to me.”

“Well, I got a fantastic blow job out of it, so I don’t want to argue.” Fenric started straightening himself up.

Lirion pulled out a handkerchief and cleaned up enough to do the same, standing again.

Still, he kept a watchful eye on Fenric.

Normally, at this point, people thought of ways to exploit this newfound knowledge.

It could range from “Hey, let’s continue this elsewhere” to something far darker and more sinister.

His sister’s fate was certainly nothing new.

It was far too common a fate for his kind.

Lirion didn’t know this man well enough to predict what he’d do next.

Instead of leering or making suggestions, Fenric stretched his arms overhead. “Not sure who benefited from that more, me or you. Damn, it’s been a while since I’ve had sex. I feel so much more relaxed right now.”

That was…an interesting response. Really? No questions, no demands, no trying to twist this so it was all Lirion’s fault and he now owed him?

What the hell was wrong with this idiot? He had the upper hand; why wasn’t he using it?

Fenric must have caught the look because he paused mid-stretch. “What?”

“That’s all you’re going to say about it? I just had my wicked way with you, and you’re not even upset.”

“Yes, because having my brains sucked out by a gorgeous man is such a hardship.” He paused and smirked as he added, “Was my sarcasm thick enough?”

Despite himself, Lirion grinned. “It was.”

“Good. Try not to get into any more bar fights, okay?” Fenric shot him a wink before starting to saunter off.

“For the record, I’m really not following you,” Lirion called out. Fenric stopped and spun easily on the balls of his feet as if he really was part cat. “Those times…when we ran into each other, they really were a coincidence.”

Fenric’s expression was blank, utterly unreadable, then he nodded and made a soft noise.

“And for the record,” he said, seeming to playfully mimic Lirion before his expression turned serious, “I am sorry for messing up…whatever you were trying to get out of Lance. I know what it’s like to be fucked over by a hero. ”

Fenric’s roar about the murder of his mother echoed in the darkest part of Lirion’s mind. His pained expression was seared into his memories. Yeah, he did know.

“Thanks,” Lirion murmured softly.

Fenric saluted with one hand and resumed walking out of the alley, where he disappeared around the corner.

Lirion watched him go and felt this strange mix of relief and curiosity. For a self-proclaimed villain, Fenric was far too forgiving. And nice.

Men could be nice. Who knew?

He still didn’t know if he liked Fenric, and he was still on the fence about trusting him, but, well. It wasn’t like there was any need to get on the man’s good side, was there?

With a mental shrug, he followed Fenric out to the main street. The man had already disappeared into the crowd, and Lirion intended to do the same. He was well fed now, and it should hold him for the next two days.

Lirion absolutely had to figure out the logistics of how to reach his sister now that he had a direction. That would be his entire focus until he had a plan and a route secured.
