Chapter 13 – Minnie
THIRTEEN
MINNIE
Vidar couldn’t have really believed that I’d stay locked up on his ship without at least trying to escape, right? I’d tried throwing myself into his forcefield about fifty times since he’d walked away. He must have been far enough away not to hear a sound because man, I was raising hell.
After the fiftieth sharp shock, I knew I had to change my strategy. If being noisy and attracting attention hadn’t even worked to draw Vidar from his work, he was either too determined, or he’d already left his ship.
I looked at the nearly invisible forcefield for a few minutes, staring hard until I realized that the forcefield wasn’t exactly invisible…
It was like there was a thin sheet of glass separating me and the outside world.
Some mixture of ions and electrons held this in place and if I could just find the right material, maybe I could disrupt it…
I stripped apart every corner of my room.
I didn’t think Vidar put that much thought into how strong his forcefield should be since he hadn’t even planned on rescuing John.
Or maybe he’d known I would insist. Half the time, I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
He always seemed to know what I was thinking and maybe he knew when it came to John.
Vidar had walked through the forcefield easily, but I hadn’t. Why? Of course, we were different species, but we were both mammals and we should have both been susceptible to the shock.
What had Vidar told me about his species…
I recalled some of the experiments and then what he’d mentioned about evolution. His species had evolved from ocean dwelling creatures, similar to whales on Earth.
Maybe I needed… more water.
The quarters Vidar had locked me in were near identical to a human arrangement with a bedroom and attached bathroom, typical for a studio apartment.
He’d wanted me to be comfortable, hadn’t he?
I rushed into the space-age bathroom with a large shower head and a huge deep tub that could easily fit two people as large as Vidar, possibly more.
I turned the knob on in the shower and stripped naked.
I got wet — really wet — and then ran out of the shower at full speed toward the forcefield. I ran through, half-expecting to be stopped, which is why when I made it through the forcefield, I landed face first into the opposing wall.
“AHHH!” I shrieked as my legs slipped out from under me and I flailed like a rag doll in the breeze as my tail bone hit the ground with a loud exaggerated thud.
“UGHHHHH,” I groaned.
That hurt like hell. My butt, thighs and entire body ached. My face hurt too. I bet my cheeks were bright red. I lay there for a few moments partly humiliated and partly feeling sorry for myself before I hobbled up to my feet.
Great, one hour awake on Vidar’s ship and I was already scampering around stark naked.
If he came back and found me like this, he’d probably laugh so hard and then never let me live it down.
That’s if his lusty tentacles could stand the sight of me like this without wanting to take me in every one of my holes…
I raced down one wrong hallway, then another, then I got myself turned around and realized that I’d somehow climbed two decks up.
Ugh! I was running around naked and now getting bone dry and very cold.
My nipples must have been rock hard and standing on end as I ran around another thirty minutes before finally coming to the doors of the cockpit.
I cleared my through, preparing to give my best “commanding Polluxian” voice to open the doors.
“Computer,” I announced, “I need access to the cockpit.”
“Place handprint for authorization.”
“Oh. Okay.”
I placed my handprint on the pad outside the cockpit and the doors slid open. I actually had authorization. My escape mission was going a lot more easily than I’d thought it would. The cockpit doors swung open and I sighed with relief.
I’d made it. Now, there was only one thing to do… figure out how to get off this ship and down to earth.
“Computer, where is Vidar.”
“Proconsul Vidar is not aboard the vessel.”
“Is he on the planet below?”
“Activate scanning tool.”
“Uh… How?”
“Push the purple button.”
The button she spoke of was large — the kind of button you push when things are effed up beyond recognition.
“Are you sure?”
There was no way this computer could lie to me, could it?
“Push the purple button,” the computer repeated.
“Fine…”
I slammed on the purple button. I heard a loud whooshing sound and then behind me, I heard a voice… John’s voice…
“Minerva… Why are you naked?”
I turned around and screamed, one hand covering my boobs while the other raced between my thighs. That purple button brought back Vidar… with an injured John Billings slung over his shoulders.
Vidar’s clothes were ripped and he was covered in blood and bruises. His chest heaved with exhaustion from vigorous activity, something I’d never seen even when he worked himself to the bone getting us free before.
“You got us out just in the nick of time,” Vidar breathed without a hint of surprise that I was naked.
“Ummm!!”
“You figured it out just like I thought you would,” Vidar replied, “I thought it might take you a while but I needed to keep you busy. I told you, I wouldn’t be long.”
“You didn’t tell me you’d only be gone an hour!”
“I told you to trust me.”
John cleared his throat.
“Right. Close your eyes, Earthling!” Vidar roared in a monstrously protective voice.
“You planned all of this!” I chided Vidar.
“Yes. I predicted your every move. That last one came just in time. I didn’t think I’d stand much of a chance against their grenades.”
“They threw grenades?”
My voice dropped to a whisper. He really could have died down there and he would have let me stay here when I should have been at his side, helping him.
“I am fine,” he replied, lowering his voice and then saying, “You look incredible, by the way.”
His cheeky grin set heat rushing to my face. John yowled, “I’m still here you know, can you two maybe tone it down?”
“Tone what down?” I replied, feigning innocence.
“Oh come on, Minnie. I know you better than that. I know you’re into him,” John whined.
“I’m not!”
“Vidar already confessed,” John replied.
“Oh.”
“It’s fine. I just… I’ve been through a lot. I want to settle down and sleep it off.”
“He doesn’t look half as bad as I was.”
Vidar grimaced and replied, “We’ll discuss this later, Minerva. Right now I’ve got to get John to bed.”
When Vidar turned around, I saw what he was referring to. The reason he had John slung over his back like that. They’d removed one of John’s legs from the knee down. While it was clearly healing, he’d been through his fair share of torture. My stomach churned. Had that been my fault?
Vidar carried him to the sick bay and then returned.
“I never thought I’d get to see you naked in my cockpit so soon,” he teased, now that we were alone.
“You are not as funny as you think you are,” I replied, crossing my arms over my breasts but leaving my mound uncovered.
“I can’t believe how stubborn you are,” Vidar chuckled, “I didn’t necessarily believe you’d run around the ship naked.”
“I guess you still have a lot to learn about me.”
“Good,” he whispered, “I’m an eager study.”
He took me in his arms and kissed me, his strange alien tongue pressing against mine and activating my desires and memories of our other encounters. I pulled away, heat already rising to my chest.
“Vidar… Please tell me he’ll be okay.”
“I did some work on site with techniques I perfected while you were unconscious just before the soldiers found me. With the work I did on you, I finally understand your species’ physiology well enough to heal him. I should be able to regenerate the limb with some cybernetic implants.”
“Wait you mean like an artificial limb?”
“Not the entire limb, just the joints and bones will be cybernetic. The muscle tissue and the rest of it I can grow right here.”
“Amazing… It’s amazing how advanced science has become on your world. And others…” I realized that there had to be others.
“Agreed. Now little earthling, let us take you somewhere warmer before you’re nipples freeze off.”
“Vidar!”
He smirked and before I could protest, again, he slung me over his back. This time, I didn’t scream. I grabbed onto his broad shoulders and nestled my head in the crook between his chin and his shoulder, wrapping my arms around my alien giant’s torso.
“Sorry for escaping,” I whispered.
“You wouldn’t be Minerva if you didn’t try…”
I couldn’t understand how I’d fallen for him so quickly.
For years, I’d gone through date after bad date, always finding something wrong with them.
Vidar just… always seemed to know what I wanted and what I needed.
He was a strong protector, bound by the traditions of his post as proconsul and as a scientific explorer of my world.
He returned me to my feet once we were back in my quarters.
“Little earthling, now that we’re alone and in here, I see little sense in having you get dressed right away.”
Before I could protest, he swept me into his arms and pressed me up against the wall to my quarters so I could wrap my legs around him tight. He held my arms, pinning them above my head, and stared into my eyes with his fluorescent green ones.
“My implant can read your heart rate. I can tell how aroused you are, even before you say it. I can sense the slightest change in the temperature on your skin. I can sense your heart rate, and calculate your pupil dilation to the millimeter. Do you know how hot it makes me to know it turns you on to be caught naked like that?”
He was right, of course. Him finding me there naked in his cockpit had activated a primal part of my brain that screamed for Vidar’s attention.
Those three tentacles he kept tucked in his pants could twist me into so many levels of climax that I could hardly stand to feel the ache of his absence when he pulled out of me.
