The cultural festival was a success beyond anything they had imagined.

What had started as defiance spread like wildfire.

The students’ eagerness to salute history created a harmonious thread where visitors could pass from clan to clan, scene to scene, illustrating the very moment when Japan had opened to the occident.

The Boshin War and Meiji revolution sprouting to life.

Elyna's mother had pulled up her hair in an elaborate twist, topping it with a thousand pins and a tiny hat to complete the look.

Katrine’s high-collared blouse was buttoned to the top and adorned with a little satin bow. Needless to say, Elyna hated being constricted. But she looked the part.

Climbing the stairs had become a new form of torture. What a pain! How she sympathised with the samurai who had to drag along their heavy armour. Elyna performed one last round on the second floor, gathering her skirts to avoid tripping.

She had barely seen Sano those past days, and today was no exception; she was on all fronts, and so was he. Was ill chance to blame for their incompatible schedules? She hoped so, or else…
