Chapter 21 #3
She panted, her nipples diamond points, baring her throat. “Oh God, Chase…”
“Is that a yes?” He traced his nose down her jugular. “You want my bite, baby?”
“Yes…” she breathed.
His chest rumbled, pulling her close again and sweeping her hair to the side, already on the brink of spending himself. “Touch yourself, Jena. I want to feel you come when I finish claiming you.”
Her fingers dropped to his slick cock as it pumped into where their bodies connected, then rose to circle her clit.
He licked up her throat, sucking and nibbling, humming in pleasure.
She shivered with a little cry. Beneath his lips her pulse sped, tiny tremors building around his dick, an answering tingle at the base of his spine.
Her head dropped back, nipples pearled to points against his chest. “I’m close, so close…”
Chase nuzzled at the nape of her neck, running his fangs over her skin, his breath coming fast in anticipation. “Christ, you take my dick so good, Jena. Such a good girl—”
She gasped, her pussy clamping around his cock, and Chase bit down as he thrust into her.
She cried out, her blood coating his tongue, her passion running over his sac.
He groaned, his eyes rolling up in head as he came, the base of his cock expanding and long ropes of his searing desire spurting, filling her with his seed—his hand tightened on her ass, driving himself deeper as she came again, grinding against her until she stilled and went lax, the two of them replete.
His fangs retracted, and he lapped over the punctures, sealing them, his scent a permanent part of her now. “Mine,” he rumbled, kissing the tiny marks.
“Yours,” she murmured, collapsing onto his chest. “And now I don’t want to do anything.”
Chase laughed, his knot still keeping them close. He stroked her hair. “You don’t have to for a while.”
“Mmm.” She rubbed her cheek against his pec. “Waiting for your knot won’t take long enough for a nap.”
Chase swallowed his smile. “No, no time for a nap.” He glanced out the window, savoring the few moments he had with her like this as it dissipated. “Come on, it looks like the rain’s let up. We should go.”
Jena nodded and stood with a sigh, sweeping up her necklace and putting it back on. Chase didn’t like it, but had to admit, it wasn’t the worst idea if they ran into trouble.
They cleaned up then dressed, and he took her hand and paused before he opened the door. “You don’t have a ball cap I can borrow, do you?”
She shook her head. “No, sorry. I can’t stand anything on my head.”
Shit. He frowned, mussing his hair over his eyes.
“Why do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Hide.”
He opened his mouth and then closed it again with a soft laugh. “Guess I don’t have to anymore, do I?”
Her eyes flashed. “You never did.”
Chase brought her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles as he opened the door. “Thanks for that.”
Kelsey and Liam’s laughter came from the other end of the apartment. Chase’s joined theirs as they walked into the sitting room. The two of them were swathed ornate robes—
“What are you doing?” Jena gasped. “Do you have any idea how expensive those are?”
“They feel it.” Liam grinned, the wide, belled-sleeves dusting his knuckles as he rolled his shoulders beneath the heavy fabric. “These things have got to weigh twenty pounds, but if you’ve got a better idea of how we’re gonna walk down Main Street incognito during the festival, I’m all ears.”
Jena looked between them. “What? Why wouldn’t we just cut through the cemetery again?”
“Because of all the security,” Kelsey said. “Anyone who gets caught on private property gets arrested. No exceptions.”
“And everyone’s going to be dressed up in their cross quarter day garb,” Chase said, catching on to their line of thinking. “We go out there as is, we’ll stick out like sore thumbs.”
“But if we wear these, we’ll fit right in,” Kelsey said, smoothing a hand over the embroidered moons on the amethyst velvet robe she was wearing.
“Plus, we can keep the hoods up. If Malcom and the rest of the Westside pack is out there, none of them are going to be looking for us decked out as witches.” Her nose wrinkled. “We’ll smell like them, too.”
Jena frowned. “Okay, but as soon as we get to the Jeep, they go in the back. Those are like five hundred bucks a pop, wholesale.”
Kelsey clapped her hands, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “Yay, this is so exciting! We brought these two up for you.” She pointed at one in midnight blue and another in emerald draped over one of the chairs.
“No, I have my own.” Jena sighed. “I’ll kill myself tripping over the hem in one of those. Gimme a sec.” She headed back to her room, and Chase took the one Kelsey handed him.
“That blue’s gonna look great with your eyes.”
His stomach flipped. Goddamn, he missed his hat. “Yeah…thanks,” he muttered slipping on the robe. Damn, Liam hadn’t been kidding, it weighed a ton.
“Well, look at you three,” Matilda said, leaning in the kitchen doorway.
Behind her, Sweets and Ms. Pao were chanting over the caldron.
“Not bad, but you won’t fool any of the real witches out there.
Try not to insult anyone and get hexed.” She held out a credit card between two of her fingers to Chase. “Here, you probably want this back.”
“Thanks.” He took it from her, not about to ask where she’d gotten it from.
“I’ll make sure they behave,” Jena grumbled, coming back into the room in something considerably less ornate.
But damn, she looked a hell of a lot more impressive.
Delicate sliver chains pulled back her hair at either side of her temples and crossed her brow like a diadem.
She’d put makeup on, darkening her eyes and the dark gray robe, though simple, accentuated her curves.
A long leather belt was looped around her waist, and a crescent knife dangled from it along with a bunch of charms and a leather pouch.
“That’s what a real witch looks like.” Matilda sniffed in approval before going back into the kitchen.
Jena stopped short, staring after her. “Did she just say something nice?”
Liam looked poleaxed, too. “She did.”
“Shit, then we better hurry,” Kelsey said, making for the door. “Hell is freezing over.”
The twins headed out to the landing, and Chase held out his hand for Jena. “You look amazing. How come I’ve never seen you like this?”
Her cheeks flushed as she looped her messenger bag over her head. “Because it’s ceremonial. I think I’ve worn it like twice before, and it’s definitely snugger now than it was.” She frowned, tugging the fabric over her hip.
“Then it didn’t fit right before.” He batted her hand away and smoothed over the curve.
She failed to swallow a smile, then pulled away. “Be careful, all this is silver.”
“Totally worth the burn.” Chase stooped to kiss her—
“Are you guys coming?” Liam called up the stairs.
“Not soon enough,” Chase murmured, his gaze running over her as he held the door. Her cheeks pinked again, and he grinned, following her down the steps.
