While pandemonium has been breaking out across Los Angeles, CA these past two weeks, events in Oregon’s own small town of Werewolf Hollow have been slowly unfolding.
Starting with the runaway single mother who set off an unexpected chain of events all throughout Southern California, it ended with a massive showdown between one brave woman and a rogue werewolf.
For those still not up to date on all these new terms, a “Rogue Werewolf” refers to any werewolf freshly turned with no previous exposure to the Caninus Lupinus virus, genetically or otherwise. When initially bitten, most individuals shift between the time of exposure to the next full moon, typically sooner rather than later. “Rogue Werewolves” are treated as highly dangerous due to a severe lack of control, with the worst case scenario involving rogues who receive no help in shift mastery, and therefore, lose the ability to shift back entirely.
The latter, unfortunately, is what sleepy little Werewolf Hollow was forced to contend with.
Following the accidental transmission of the virus to the Executive Director Rudy Rodriguez of the FBI’s Department of Werewolf Control, the very same Sylvia Lake who set all of Los Angeles into upheaval returned with a werewolf Alpha in tow to retrieve the now-retired FBI Agent. Details have yet to be uncovered into Sylvia’s past relationships regarding werewolves, however it was easy to discover that she has spent most of her childhood growing up in the small, mostly unknown town of Werewolf Hollow, Oregon. The history of Werewolf Hollow will be covered in another article.
During Sylvia Lake’s trip to Los Angeles in order to retrieve the likely sensitive case of Rudy Rodriguez- see previous articles containing details on the brutal murders of the Rodriguez family, following the successful capture and conviction of high profile members of Werewolf extremist groups- it was reported that, back in Werewolf Hollow, two of her three children, along with another local child, disappeared. At the same time, while en route to their home with Rudy Rodriguez in tow, both Sylvia and the Werewolf Hollow Alpha- one of three in the region- were informed that the last known location of the rogue werewolf was heading in a similar direction.
In spite of the range of opinions regarding Sylvia Lake’s decision to keep details regarding her son’s Vertical Transmission of the Caninus Lupinus virus omitted from public records, one cannot help but be heavily inspired by this single mother’s dedication to her children. It was reported that during a showdown against the rogue werewolf, Sylvia Lake- aided by the town’s Sheriff, Ivy Molina- distracted the now-crazed creature to allow the children to escape. Before local werewolves or law enforcement could arrive on the scene, Rudy Rodriguez himself- escaped from the trailer he had been transported in- stopped and attacked the werewolf head on, trapped in a semi-crazed state between rogue state and shift mastery.
As Ex-FBI Agent Rudy Rodriguez fought to maintain control of his senses, however, locals that had arrived on scene let their guards down, and the savage rogue werewolf attempted one last attack on the aforementioned Alpha, one Aegis Black, leader of the Black Lake pack and considered by many in the area as the de facto leader in Werewolf Hollow. Sylvia Lake once again jumped to action, and we cannot but admire this one woman’s apparent fierce loyalty; she escaped the fight heavily injured and suffering a bite wound.
The Rogue Werewolf did not survive the attack.
We attempted to question Aegis Black on his lack of precaution toward the rogue, but he did not respond, though in the opinion of the on-scene investigator, he did appear to be greatly affected by the question.
It was during this time that Sylvia Lake’s full past was revealed to the public, including the brutal deaths of not just her parents, but of her sister, who was then expecting twins. Not just any twins, as readers may guess, but the twins that Sylvia Lake would later adopt and flee to Los Angeles with.
Since the report of the incident and the following revelation, shockingly, the pandemonium in Los Angeles has calmed down significantly. A community gathering in a local park celebrated the bravery of Sylvia Lake, and for the first time in longer than we can remember, humans and werewolves came together to try to bridge very old wounds. Many have come out to speak against her greatest detractors, including the Principal of the school which the twins previously attended, who has since stepped down, following allegations of gross misconduct in a potentially threatening situation, as well as Sylvia Lake’s previous employer, Peter Richardson, who has also since stepped down amid allegations of sexual harassment, favoritism, and- similarly- gross misconduct. There are currently several on-going investigations regarding her previous landlord, name withheld pending case results.
It would appear that a time of tenuous peace is potentially ahead of us, particularly as Sylvia Lake resurfaces following her transition from a life as a human to the life of a werewolf- and, as perhaps many of us are not surprised to discover, the fated mate of Alpha Aegis Black.
