Chapter 9 #3

Her features twist in pain and terror but I can’t manage to peel myself away from the unspeakable thing playing out right in front of me. I have to do something. But how can I stop him? How can I stop this monster three times my size from throwing me to the fucking wall the same way he did Sergei?

He sucks on his finger again, letting the blood paint his lips red.

The woman continues to fight against him.

Twisting her shoulders and back to no avail.

Viktor only tightens his hand at her throat, letting his long nails bite at her skin as blood trickles down her collarbone.

Gasps and dry retches fill in the background silence, not enough to drown out the muffled cries of the woman being ravaged, or the sound of Viktor’s smacking lips demanding more.

“Stop it!” I finally scream. “Take me. Do whatever you want but let her fucking go!”

Viktor’s tongue stops inches from his ring finger, his cold, insatiable expression going slack.

I see the hunger in his glowing eyes. The vile pleasure he has holding her like she’s nothing more than a snack he found in the pantry.

Then, as if at war with himself again, his damning glare darts toward the ceiling.

“Not until the hunt. My father—”

All eyes in the cage, even Sergei’s, dance between me, Viktor, and eventually the woman too afraid to move.

Viktor nods again. “Da. Ty prav.”

Ty prav? What in the fuck does ty prav mean? I don’t wait for an explanation. I don’t wait for his mouth to reopen and find out. I step forward despite the horrible ache churning my stomach.

“Let her go, Viktor!” I scream.

“No!” His voice booms, an octave low and snarling.

“I. Am. The. Alpha. Now.” His red soaked lips spread into a sinister grin.

He lowers his hand one last time, nails long and lethal.

The cage echoes with flesh tearing to ribbons.

The woman’s screams reduce to choked hisses under his clenching fist. Blood.

More blood than I’ve ever seen pools between her thighs.

The pants aren’t gray anymore. No. They are a gray and burgundy pinstripe trickling down to each calf.

When he draws his arm back, his fingers collapse around the womb of the woman who can’t manage to keep her eyes open.

Viktor’s brow tenses as he inspects his bloodied fist. Then, he holds out the piece of her to me on display. “Cheers.”

He opens his mouth wide, cracking his jaw out of place to fit his entire fist in.

Red seeps down each cheek, dribbling over Viktor’s jowls and underneath his shirt.

The first bite is only outdone by the second and more disgusting squishing sound of her flesh.

Vomit spews from some of the captives, while others manage to turn and spit whatever they can through the bars.

Viktor continues chewing, relishing in the way his teeth cut through layers of skin as the woman slumps over, her convulsing body held upright under his grip.

When he drops her, she topples into her own fluids, arms and legs sprawling in different directions.

What life she clings to flees faster than the blood draining from her center.

A deep red puddle collects from each distorted leg, filling the middle of the cage.

Viktor swallows the last bit of her and wipes an arm to his mouth in satisfaction.

The sadistic grin returns, and with one small glance to the crumpled woman in front of him, he finally turns to me.

Forcing down every bit of bile I can, I wait.

I wait for him to give me the same treatment.

To grab me. Bite me. Tear out the pieces the monster inside him demands.

The wolf in Viktor’s head has taken the reins.

I’m not going to make it out of this cage.

No, my corpse will stay here until Sergei is forced to clean it.

The room begins to spin, a cement blur complete with green, indistinct faces.

One step.

I swallow hard. Fighting off every horrible image crashing through my head.

Two.

My lungs seize, cutting off each trembling breath.

Three.

Viktor reaches for me like he did for the woman lying still a few feet away, his nails dripping with her blood.

This is it. I close my eyes. Hoping the first bite, the first chunk taken is fast enough to feel numb. That he will kill me qui—

Thumpf.

The entire compound shakes. I manage to stay upright, though it proves difficult when the whole world seems to curve on a different axis.

Concrete rains down from above, dusting over not only the captives, but Viktor as well.

His face pinches tight with confusion until he tilts his ear to the ceiling.

Sheer dread replaces his bloodthirsty features in an instant.

His outstretched fingers, only a foot from grabbing me, ball to fists at his sides.

I’ve seen it before. How the mere mention of a name was enough to send Viktor into a murderous spiral. That can only mean one thing.

His brother has come home.
